3 out of 5 eggsa mixed review

Pros: looks nicer in real life than in photos.. I was AMD fanboy and not happy with what there offering.. wanted to try out my first in tel build. this build was kinda differant than what i was use to as some things i was unsure of but got it together ,hit the switch and fired right up fooled with bios for awile trying to figure out things with that A6 code. loaded OS and board drivers witch fixed the A6 error code and has been working stable with no issues. will know more around the 30 day windows activation time runs out. as of now board works and stable and i am happy with that. have not as of yet any issues that i have read about with this board outher than whats in the cons and it might be that i am still running the OS raw i still have to actavate it and get all windows updates and up date the bios witch may correct the HD issue[??} or it may be these drives are just alittle slow.

Cons: seems like I got a old stock board that had the 1st release bios installed 1.90. seems like after a year there would have been a later released bios installed on this board.. that is just cheap right off the bat.[this hurt getting at least a 4 egg rating the most] I don't mind flashing to newer bios but after all this time there is no need to get a board today with a bios that's first release from near a year ago and now i have to take what I fell is an unnessery risk if I need to flash.
. manual kinda vage and there was no info on the dr debug codes. had code A6 at first boot to bios looked online about this and eaven at asrock no help on what the deal was, but after rechecking things over figured it may be due to not having the OS and drivers installed and that was true loaded OS and intel board drivers all was good [ i did not and will not load any of the outher ''c.r.a.p.'' ware or asmidea drivers [windows will pick up there stuff and will work fine] that comes on the asrock driver disk] hard drive performance seems kinda low for what i see with a WD 500 black drive[5.6 on windows score] as reviews have showen. case fan headers could of been placed better to spots were the case fans are on the case had to strech one front fan lead to near the back of the board so just an extra header by the sata ports would have did the trick.

Other Thoughts: dr debug A6 error seemed to be normal untill after OS and chipset drivers were installed and now all good ... box shipped in came kinda beat up and main board box was crushed on one end. seems i e-mailed egg on this issue before. on items comming from a certin wharehouse of theres. tn.
so as far as egg rating....

motherboard = 4 egg, getting old stock motherboard = 1 egg manual= 3 eggs, online support for debug codes help = 1 egg [all you get is a 5 word one liner for the code and thats it, no help no resolve and its in there f.a.q dept.] if this board is still running strong a year or two from now then yes its a nice board and would buy again.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat board

Pros: I was leary of the bad reviews at first but I am happy I bought this board. Built a new gaming box with Corsair 200r, HX 650 PSU, 4670k, GTX 770, 8GB RAM, Crucial SSD and this board.

It was well packed. No damage upon receipt. Posted on first attempt. Flashed Bios. Booted from USB to install Win 8. Good quality, not flimsy compared to budget boards im used to.

Connection points are clearly marked and all had nice fit when hooking things up. Bios is very easy to use. Has great OC tools and has a Bios reset button if you mess up. Im stable at stock after testing and dialing in my OC this week. I have not experienced any of the problems others have reported with this board.

Cons: None for my use.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat unraid server platform

Pros: I was looking for a motherboard with a lot of SATA connections. This one provided 10 for a reasonable price point. Dual INTEL Ethernet ports is a big plus. Nice layout and tons of cool features. Sadly I will use very few of the features on this board since it simply serves up data in a headless server configuration.

Cons: For my use, I couldn't find any. I am using this as an Unraid media server and it provided everything I needed and more. I might have preferred the SATA ports to face up instead of off the edge of the motherboard, but it wasn't a problem really since I installed all 10 cables before inserting the board into the case.

Other Thoughts: BIOS was easy to work with and boot times are speedy. The least expensive board I could find that would drive 10 SATA drives so I got it and am extremely pleased with the results. Would love to try this board out on my main PC and actually test the sound quality and various other features that I won't use. Can't speak to the software from ASrock since I am not running Windows. My wife even commented on this motherboard, she thought it was pretty, for whatever that is worth. I have to say it does appear to be very nicely built.

5 out of 5 eggsA great Z87 board!

Pros: Rock-solid, everything worked right the first time, very good BIOS, top-notch performance, stellar value for the price (or any price). I also bought an Asus Z87 Sabertooth at the same time and this board beats it hands-down in responsiveness and features.

Cons: None and that's been my experience with all ASRock boards I've owned so far.

Other Thoughts: While I bought my Z87 Extreme6 from another vendor I'm extremely pleased with the performance and stability in the two weeks I've been experimenting with it using a 4770K CPU. This platform replaced an Asus P8P67 Deluxe 3.0/i7 2600K in an A/V production rig and is noticeably faster in both stock and overclocked configurations. The 4770K I got appears to like 4.4ghz as an overclock speed and has been crash-free in that configuration.

I've bought several ASRock motherboards in the past 4 years and have been extremely satisfied with their quality, performance and durability. I've had to contact their customer service a couple of times and have never had a problem or complaint getting things resolved quickly to my satisfaction. ASRock is one of the few companies that usually has a human answer the telephone during regular business hours and that's a huge plus as far as I'm concerned. I'm an IT professional and ASRock is on my short list of preferred companies to deal with based upon my personal interactions with them. Those who claim problems in dealing with them are extremely different than mine have all been.

1 out of 5 eggsTwo boards DOA, not trying a third

Pros: Tons of features. Intel NICs, decent audio codec, nice layout, looks nice

Cons: Two different boards I purchased were DOA.
I received my first board, installed all other components on a known good PSU, and it wouldn't fire up.

Tested with another CPU, still had no luck. Stripped everything out except the CPU and 1 stick of RAM (which also tested good via memtest in another box), but still had no luck.

I tested the second board, and it exhibits the same behavior. Connected everything, use the onboard power button and the board doesn't start.

I ended up replacing both boards with a Gigabyte Z87X-OC, which has significantly fewer onboard features, but worked immediately. This is my first ASRock board, and I doubt I'll give them a shot again.

Other Thoughts: I'd heard a lot of good stuff about newer ASRock boards, and the feature set of this board was pretty great, and at a good price point too. I'm disappointed that two separate boards from two different retailers had exactly the same issue.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear ASRock Customer

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.
This is very unfortunate and rarely happens. However, all mainboards are fully tested to assure the quality.
As always, we appreciate your purchase and constructive reviews are welcome.

Thank you

4 out of 5 eggsRock-steady for 2 years

Pros: For the most part, this motherboard has been rock-solid for me. No overheating issues, great options in the BIOS for control.

Great expansion possibilities for future-proofing.
Honestly, if you get this now (at the age of this board already) you should expect to get at least a couple more years out of it before any really convincing advancements make you want to upgrade.

Cons: I've ran into issues in the BIOS where it will freeze on me initially, forcing me to reboot the computer.
After going back into the BIOS, however, everything runs smoothly.

4 out of 5 eggsPleasantly Surprised

Pros: -Works perfectly
-Easy overclocking (for CPU. I don't know much about video card overclocking.)
-I've seen uglier boards.

Cons: It took me a while to get it working properly.
-The RAM slots are a tight fit, but that might just be because my RAM was super low profile.
-For some reason I couldn't get it to recognize my second monitor because it uses a VGA connection. I had to plug it into the DVI with a connector (thankfully my card came with one) to get it to work.

Other Thoughts: I definitely recommend it. I got it with a free 8 gigs of Ballistix ram and on sale, so the deal was absolutely incredible. I was cautious about getting an ASRock product because I have a bad history with them, but since I got this board for Christmas, it has preformed flawlessly. Sans the installation errors. I would have given this 5 eggs happily if not for the installation.

I highly recommend this board if you are on a budget.

5 out of 5 eggsVery Pleased

Pros: Just a solid board. OC, pretty well, and has safeguards built in when you make that back setting change. plenty of SATA. Decent Bios.

Cons: Wish you could add a Bluetooth adapter rather than having to buy the board with it build in. - didn't realize i wanted it till after. Not a fan of the OC or Fan software.

1 out of 5 eggsASROCK WILL RIP YOU OFF

Pros: Pros, huh... ASRock is PROFiccient at selling you a motherboard with a 3 year warranty only to completely IGNORE your support and RMA emails!

Cons: Motherboard arrived delivered with defective bios that crashed within 30 seconds of entering UEFI.

Later, BOTH my ram channels A1 and A2 became defective and will not register ANY ram inside them. Both ram sticks work in B1 and B2, so RAM is not defective - motherboard is defective. I am stick in SINGLE channel mode for this supposedly performing motherboard. I emailed ASRock support AND ASRock RMA, and they have not replied in two friggin days.

Who even knows if they WILL reply?

This kind of service is DEPLORABLE - I should not have to write a bad newegg review to GET THEIR ATTENTION!

Get your business STRAIGHT, ASROCK!

It is NOT hard to reply to an email, especially when I take 30 minutes to write you with every single model number, serial number, etc you annoyingly asked to be sent to you on your RMA page.

(Chant this for me, it'll make me feel better about being RIPPED OFF BY ASROCK)

Manufacturer Response:

Dear ASRock Customer

Thank you for your purchase and review. We always do our best to support customers. Unfortunately, it does not meet your needs.
However, we do reply both email and phone promptly except on week-end and holidays.

Please download and update the latest BIOS at link " ".

Trouble shoot the memory slots steps below whether resolved the issue.
Unplug the ATX power.
Clear the CMOS.
Check the mainboard’s CPU socket contact pins are normal (should be pointing same way and pattern)
Reseat the CPU with heatsink fan as well if socket pins are normal
Test with single memory module on each slot one by one to isolate the slot problem.

If you have any technical issues please contact us at 909-590-8308 or We will assist you shortly.

Thank you
