5 out of 5 eggsSo far so good

Pros: Lots of features for a mini itx board. Onboard wi-fi, gigabit ethernet, blue tooth, mini pcie slot, six sata 6 ports, four usb 3.0 ports. What more could you possibly want in a board this size?

Anything is subject to defects, so the real test will be how well customer service is if / when it fails.

Cons: I could't find any, but time will tell.

The board I used before this was an Asrock H67M-ITX and I started having sporadic problems with the 2nd memory slot, so I decided to replace it.

Other Thoughts: Straight out of the manual in case anyone was wondering:

These six SATA3
connectors support SATA
data cables for internal
storage devices with up
to 6.0 Gb/s data transfer
rate. SATA3_5 connector
is shared with the eSATA
port; SATA3_4 connector
is shared with the
mSATA/mini-PCIe slot

So if you use the mini pcie slot and the eSata connector, that disables 2 of the onboard sata ports by default, so you get 6 one way or the other, not 6 +2.

Parts used:
Corsair Obsidian 250D
Intel Core i5 4570
16GB RAM (2 X Kingston KVR1333D3N9/8G)

2 out of 5 eggsDead memory slot

Pros: It's well organized, with slots and inputs in all the right places. The bios and included software make it pretty easy to OC and finetune (although mine wouldn't because of the problems below). The price would be perfect if it worked.

Cons: I started having problems with constant reboots and my CPU running a bit hot. I assumed it was my cooling setup or a bad job with the thermal paste. I removed and repasted the CPU to no avail. I swapped it out with an identical CPU from another computer. I then pulled the H80i and replaced it with a CM 212 EVO and still the problems persisted. I couldn't figure it out. I tested the PSU, the mem sticks, but I kept coming back to the motherboard. The problem was getting worse and worse over the past four months

Finally, the other day I got the error that mem slot B is bad. Turns out the board works fine when only Slot A is filled, but if slot B is filled it either hangs, reboots or goes in to a BSOD when it's booting. I tried it with different mem sticks but it's definitely Slot B. I'm typing this review on it right now, but with one lonely 4gb memory stick in Slot A

Other Thoughts: We'll see how the RMA process works. If I get it replaced quickly and without hassle I'll revisit this review and assume I just got unlucky. However, it appears other have had this problem so maybe it's sloppy manufacturing and QC. I thought Asrock shirked off their past as a cheap and shoddy board maker?

Manufacturer Response:

Dear ASRock Customer

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.
Please download and update the latest BIOS at link " http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/Z87E-ITX/?cat=Download&os=BIOS ".
Set the UEFI BIOS default.
Test with single memory module on slot B to check if its resolved.
If you have any technical issues please contact us at http://www.ASRock.com/support/tsd.asp. We will assist you shortly.

Thank you

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: An ASRock socket 1150 mini-itx board; I've used ASRock in my last two builds, my first being an ATX i7-2600k and now an ITX i7-4770k. This board will be used in a HTPC/Steambox for my living room.

I was going for an absolutely silent build, and I'm happy to report that this motherboard does not emit any buzzing or other noise at all.

Comes with your standard accessories, I bought it so I could take advantage of the displayport connector and future proof myself when I eventually buy a 4k television.

Built in bluetooth made my life a lot easier when I needed to connect a keyboard/remote for HTPC usage.

Build quality is great, as ever. Power over IP is useful for starting up with my phone.

Currently running Windows 8.1 w/ Start8 and XBMC.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: None.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat, but with one flaw

Pros: This motherboard is PACKED with features in such a small and reasonably priced package. It' has a Z87 chipset, 802.11ac wifi, Bluetooth, intel LAN, an mSATA slot, and more! It is very stable, and the UEFI is easy to use.

Cons: Besides the CPU fan, there's only ONE fan header! ONE! I know that ITX boards are cramped, but there's plenty of space for one or even 2 more fan headers. Bummer. Easy fix is to just buy a molex adapter.

3 out of 5 eggsWished it were

Pros: I cannot comment here other than the pro's would be what is advertised

Cons: Never could get it to boot. Checked all components and all trails lead back to board. Any doubt as to that conclusion were squashed when I put a new MSI in place of the Asrock and bam, I have another sweet rocking small form factor pc.

Visual inspection of the board showed warping of the main board. Socket looked ok, just warped board. I am guessing hairline crack or something.....

Other Thoughts: Recently started building again after 10 year hiatus. I have purchased 4 MB's since, 3 MSI and 1 AsRock. and all within their respective price range. I was really looking forward to playing with some of the features AsRock has to offer but not going to happen. Board was warped and compared to other manufacturers mentioned above the material on this board were lacking in quality and durability. Another thing. In order to RMA a MB you have to install the black cap back over socket after you remove CPU. Good luck doing that _____ without jacking it up and being accused of bending pins. For this reason I did not even attempt to RMA the board. 100+ gone.......... Moderator can look at my purchase history and see I don't need to make this up to get my money back, sitting pretty good in that department. Anyhow, hope this helps a few consumers and hopefully helps the big guys to build a little better and touch up their QC process

5 out of 5 eggsNice

Pros: Built in wifi ac and blutooth 4.0, USB 3.0 header

Cons: Custom CPU cooler can be a bit hard to install (not really motherboard fault just because its mini itx), only 2 fan headers.

Other Thoughts: Great motherboard with only a few small cons.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat board, but 802.11ac issues

Pros: Great little board. Dropped it in a Corsair 250d case, gtx 780 etc. runs like a champ in windows and Battlefield 4. Runs hackintosh well too, though it's locking up after 15 minutes.. could be my overclock though too, haven't dove into that much yet. Stable running prime95 with 4770k at OOB 4.4GHz settings. Booted into windows at 4.6 but not stable, didn't tweak at all. H100i watercooler.

Cons: I'm not so sure about the 802.11ac... I'm 20ft line of sight from my apple airport extreme router, and getting speeds of 170Mb to 270Mb.... Even with a ton of crazy interference (which there isn't) I should hit 400+.... I've traced the antennae inside, made sure all connections are good etc... I'm not sure where the issue is but may end up buying some new antennae to try with. Very disappointing... my imac sitting right next to it is getting 450mb\s on wireless N with 3 antennae... ug....

1 out of 5 eggsPoor Quality Control

Pros: This board has great specs and a great BIOS that self-update over the network.

Cons: I went though three of these boards before turning to an alternate manufacturer. The first worked for a while, then lost the ability to read the second bank of memory. The second was identical to the first. The third rebooted anytime you plugged in a USB device on the backplane.

This suggests poor soldering or other shorting issues. This is too bad, as I really like the product.

Newegg's support and RMA handling was stellar however.

4 out of 5 eggsSolid board, with some minor caveats

Pros: tons of features, everything worked out of the box, firmware interface seems pretty complete

Cons: In talking with ASRock support (pre-purchase) I received some conflicting answers with regards to usage of the mPCI-E and mSATA slots. Here's how it works:

Putting any device into the mSATA/mPCI-E slot on the bottom of the board will disable one of the onboard SATA (it's referenced in the manual). It does not matter if the device is mSATA (like an SSD) or mPCI-E (like a wifi card).

End result is, you get 6 SATA devices and one mPCI-E slot. You can trade one of those 6 SATA devices for an extra mPCI-E. I was really hoping (and 1/2 of responses from ASRock supported) that I could use 2 mPCI-E devices in addition to the 6 SATA.

Other Thoughts: The wi-fi card on the top-mounted mPCI-E is removable. There are no mounting provisions made for putting a full-height mPCI-E card in there, only a half-height. There is, however, actual room to fit a full length card, but securing it is up to you (I used an inverted mPCI-E half to full adapter to sort of "full to half" a card upside down).

If you, like me, want to cram 6x 3.5" HDD RAID into your Fractal Node 304 and still attach an SSD for system duties, you can replace the wi-fi card with a mPCI-E SATA HBA.

If you want to retain Wi-Fi and BT, then leave that card there, don't cheap out like I did, and get one of the flush mount style mPCI-E SATA adapters (with side connectors instead of top mount) and you can probably fit it in the bottom port, effectively getting 7 SATA devices instead of 8 (replacing Wi-Fi).
