Pros: Perform well when it's working.

Cons: Unstable!!! keep rebooting before launching the OS. sometimes it does not even boot up. you have to tweak a little bit. (with latest BIOS, firmware, and drivers).

Other Thoughts: very disappointed. will not buy this brand again.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear ASRock Customer

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent motherboard

Pros: Once the BIOS is updated, this motherboard is rock solid (running 8.1). Temps stay cool, though I don't overclock and cannot provide information regarding performance settings. Intelligent layout; everything just seems to fit great. Excellent clearances for CPU cooling. I personally put a CPU liquid cooler and later a super-large Noctua cooler on this board with no problems.

Cons: I was unable to get the BIOS GUI to connect to the servers to download an updated BIOS. I was also unable to network configure the motherboard through the BIOS GUI. The USB flash BIOS didn't work for me either. Until the BIOS was updated, the BIOS GUI was unstable. The cable on the wireless antenna is fragile and probably incapable of withstanding pets or chidren. My bluetooth radio is showing a problem, but I'm not convinced that this anomaly is hardware-related.

Other Thoughts: I would purchase this board again without hesitation. I initially forgot to plug a CPU power cord into the socket, which made the board boot and immediately turn off, so I respectfully recommend that you be smarter.

4 out of 5 eggsNice Board

Pros: Lots of features. Easy enough for a first time builder to use.

Cons: I put a Haswell I7 4770K in it and was only able to overclock it to 4.2 GHz. I'm new to overclocking so it's entirely possible it's just me, but I was hoping to ramp it up a little more than that.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Great Product value. This motherboard comes with a ton of useful features and the built in Wi-Fi makes it convenient to set up.

Cons: One of the USB 3.0 ports was not working. I confirmed this was the motherboard by switching my USB 3.0 cables. I sent an email to tech support and got no response in 2 days. I called tech support and explained the problem and they informed me I would have to exchange the board through Newegg. Given the relative minor issue, I have decdied to keep the board rather than undo my build.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome value and performance

Pros: FIRST OFF: I immediately updated the EFI BIOS to v2.1, it was literally this first thing I did even before installing the OS.

The board auto overclocked well, recognized my XMP profiles (2400MHz G Skill), and provided an easy way to setup RAID. I haven't used the manual overclocking features yet.

This board has an extensive set of features for $200. Definitely a great a value. I use the HDMI-in to easily have a console+PC setup.

The Wi-Fi has worked flawlessly so far on 802.11N, some day I will get an AC router and see if that works just as well. It was one of the reason I got this board.

The "on the board" USB port was nice quickly updating the BIOS.

Cons: Spent no more than a minute in the v1.4 BIOS so I did not have any stability issues that others may have had.

Other Thoughts: Just a note: the wireless package is below the main PCI-E slot, so you will have to route the antenna cables under your graphics card to reach the back plate.

The board is black/matte with visible traces. I actually prefer a board with no flash.

There are a lot of features on this board I still haven't got a chance to try out yet. A lot of value from Asrock.

1 out of 5 eggsASRock Poor Customer Service

Pros: Connectivity: 10 x SATA3, Intel Dual Gigabit LAN, AC WiFi

Cons: ASRock customer support is a huge disappointment!

I have been holding off on a Haswell build since I wanted a mobo with the latest C2 stepping which corrects a USB issue.

I contacted Newegg and inquired about the version of this mobo and was told there's no way for them to tell and they recommended that I contact ASRock. So I decided to purchase the mobo and then provide a Serial Number to ASRock before opening the box. If ASRock were to tell me I had a C1 board based on my serial number, I planned to take advantage of the free return shipping as a Shoprunner member and I wouldn't have opened the box either. Since Newegg couldn't tell me if they had C2 boards, this was my best plan - they offered no other choice. After all, it was October already and I figured C2 should be available from them by now.

I opened a ticket with ASRock and specifically stated, "please tell me if this is a C2 motherboard. Here is my Serial Number... I do not want to install this motherboard without knowing if this is the latest C2 stepping." ASRock's response, was "Yes, now all the mainboard have c2 stepping."

With that confirmation, I went ahead and opened the box and spent all day carefully putting together my new Haswell build. Once Windows was up, I ran a tool to display the mobo information. I was disappointed to see that I had a C1 version of the board.

I then contacted ASRock customer support and they said, "Please contact seller for C2 stepping mainboard." To which I replied, "There's no way for them to tell..." (Good job trying to avoid the situation ASRock!)

So ASRock offered to replace it, but they will not offer free return shipping, nor will they offer advanced replacement. So I will have to pay for shipping even though ASRock apparently didn't bother to check the version for me and even though I did my due diligence to avoid the situation. I will have to spend hours disassembling the computer and carefully store all the loose parts while I wait for probably 2 weeks after mailing it before I receive the replacement. Bogus!

I'm paying for their mistake... How convenient!

I have not sent the mobo back for replacement yet since I will have to spend some time disassembling the computer, and I may update my review based on how it goes. I hope I'm not in for some more disappointments! My level of confidence at this point is very low.

I probably won't purchase another ASRock product. I should have known better to go with another name that I trust. Too bad low prices of ASRock equates to low quality of customer service.

Other Thoughts: I should have gone with a brand I can trust with good customer service

Manufacturer Response:

Dear ASRock Customer

Thank you for your purchase and review. We always do our best to support customers. Unfortunately, it does not meet your needs.
All current mainboards shipped with C2 stepping to vendor, but we are unable to control that vendor would ship C2 stepping due to product is in their warehouse.
If you have any technical issues or warranty questions please contact our Tech Support at We can assist you shortly.

Thank you

Pros: AC wifi, 10 sata III ports, HDMI-in, 4 pwm chassis fan headers, BIOs are really easy to use. Has a lot of really nice features and not that expensive.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: This was my first build, and this board made it very simple. The debug led was useful. No issues so far.

4 out of 5 eggsNice for my HTPC/Gaming rig

Pros: Lots of USB ports, AC wifi, Z87 chipset, lots of SATAIII ports, 4 case fan headers, 32gb RAM supported, UEFI BIOS, backup BIOS, CMOS reset button, debugging LEDs, heatsinks on chipsets where it matters, enough space for a reasonable CPU cooler w/o blocking a DIMM slot, legacy PS/2 port, PCIe 3.0, 1150 socket.

Cons: By far, the biggest con was the initial BIOS (ver 1.30) which didn't play nice with USB 2.0 devices (like your mouse or keyboard) on the USB 3.0 port when in BIOS. That was fixed by flashing to the latest BIOS.

BIOS is upgradable via the internet directly from BIOS, but ironically, this feature too didn't work until I upgraded to the 2.10 BIOS.

The next biggest con was really with the Intel Rapid Start software when installing on Win8 pro (but to be fair, this isn't ASROCK's fault). I eventually did get that to work, but I am still confused as to how I initially did it, and now I can't replicate the difficult I had even if I uninstall it, so go figure?

Other Thoughts: I used this MB in a Home Theater Server build, so I am not using the overclocking features.

Parts in the build:

Case: Silverstone GD08 w/3x120mm case fans
Motherboard: ASROCK Extreme6/ac
SSD: Kingston HyperX 3K 120GB (used for Intel RapidStorage and RapidStart implementation).
HDD: 2 x 2TB Seagate Baracuda 7200 rpm SATAIII.

CUP Cooler: SilverStone Argon Series AR02 CPU Cooler

Pwr: SILVERSTONE Strider Gold Evolution SST-ST75F-G Evolution 750W ATX 12V v2.3 / EPS 12V 80 PLUS GOLD Certified 100% Modular, Active PFC Power Supply
Memory: Kingston HyperX 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600
