1 out of 5 eggsDefective board

Pros: N/A

Cons: QC
Defective

Other Thoughts: I bought this to make a budget gaming rig for my cousin for his birthday. I drive up to San Francisco from SoCal to spend a week hanging out with him to build the computer with him. Computer is built in an hour. OS installed in another. I leave the computer on overnight to run stress tests. Everything seems fine. The next day we test some games. We get nothing but freezes requiring hard resets and BSOD. So, my cousin who knows nothing about computers starts to worry, but I assure him that the computer will be fine. 4 days later after testing the cpu, memory, gpu, storage, and psu, I decide that the motherboard is the culprit. By now, my cousin will assuredly never be interested in building his own system when he's older thanks to the experience we had with this motherboard. Shipping costs to RMA this board was over $20, more than a quarter of the cost of this board. Next time I'll be sure to buy from a quality brand like MSI or Asus.
Highly disappointed.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear ASRock Customer

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.
For the BSOD, please check the CPU is not overheating.
Set the UEFI BIOS default.
Test with single memory module on A1 slot, try with another memory if problem still persist.

3 out of 5 eggsOK product, bad support all around

Pros: I bought this rig as a development server. I have several VMs running 24x7, git, web, CI, mail, and a few game servers (mostly minecraft). It handled the task nicely with an i3 and 32 Gb ram.

Easily configured
Nice low power rig. Pulled 30 watts on the Kill-A-Watt running an i3, 2x2TB WD drives, 32 GB ram with moderate load.
Runs Ubuntu Server flawlessly

Cons: Failed after 6 months. Support is not strong.

Other Thoughts: Not a bad on the motherboard itself, even though it shouldn't have failed after 6 months, but support leaves something to be desired.

I woke up one morning and walked down to the server rack to hear 6 beeps repeatedly. I've had this a time or two before and find that this is not uncommon, and is often a bios chip that went bonk. I sent several emails to ASRock, asking if we can start with a new bios chip so I didn't have to send the whole unit back if that's all it was.

After a few days the answer I received was no, we couldn't do that, and that I would have to go through NewEgg for RMA.

So, I contacted Newegg to begin the process and was told no, I would have to go through ASRock. I went back and forth with ASRock a few more times and gave up. I plopped in an Asus board I had and the ASRock is sitting here, ready to go in the trash.

I don't have the energy to fight for support for a product I purchased. Ultimately I have moved on from ASRock and won't look back.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear ASRock Customer

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you. We always do our best to support customers.
Unfortunately, it does not meet your needs. However, we do reply both email and phone promptly except on week-end and holidays.

1 out of 5 eggsDead after 6 months!!!

Pros: Cheap! Excellent price for the specs. Worked well while it lasted

Cons: Motherboard died only 5-6 months since I got it. Before it would hang on POST every other time, now I cannot boot a single thing. I have tried 7 hard drives and 4 optical drives. NOTHING! Completely dead.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear ASRock Customer

Sorry to hear that the mainboard has malfunctioned after 6 months which’s due to nature of electronic product, it can happen.
Please trouble shoot the mainboard whether the issue is resolved.
Turn the power off, clear the CMOS.
Remove all drives form SATA port.
Reconnect single drive to the port, switching another port and drive if problem still persist.
If you have any technical support inquiry, please contact us at http://www.ASRock.com/support/tsd.asp. We will assist you shortly.

1 out of 5 eggsDead after 6 months

Pros: Worked nice for six months. Did what it was supposed to.

Cons: Stopped working after 6 months of ownership, won't power on, tested everything possible to rule everything else out. No light on when PSU is on. Tried to jumpstart in case the power button on my case wasn't working. Replaced power cord, swapped out PSU and surge protector, and checked cable connections, which means the motherboard itself is the problem.

Other Thoughts: Not happy, considering I bought this in January and was expecting it to work for many years to come. What a piece of junk. I wish I could get my money back and buy a motherboard from a better company, but it's probably too late to RMA.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear ASRock Customer

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.
Please trouble shoot the mainboard whether the issue is resolved.

Plug the 24 + 8 or 4 pins ATX power.
Plug the chassis power switch to mainboard, and try again.

1 out of 5 eggsStopped working after a few months

Pros: Worked perfectly for nine months.

Cons: After nine months, I found the computer shut down and unable to power back up. I have ruled out CMOS, memory, and PSU, and thus must conclude that this motherboard has died.

The lack of either an error code LCD or even built-in POST speaker is also problematic.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear ASRock Customer

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.
Please trouble shoot the mainboard to check if its resolved
Remove all components from mainboard (CPU, RAM, VGA card, HDD, USB devices).
Reseat the CPU and cooler.
Reconnect power supply (24 + 8 pins).
Reconnect the chassis power connector.
Turn on the power to check if CPU fan is spinning.
Populate the components one by one if its mainboard get the power back on.

1 out of 5 eggsDOA so cannot comment

Pros: Looks like good specs for price.

Cons: Very well packaged and shipped, but DOA (ruled out power supply, memory, and processor right away, no physical damage observed). Manual is poorly written, so would be difficult to figure out how to set up. I wish I could get a replacement board to try (features for the price cannot be beat), but needed to build a computer sooner.

Other Thoughts: Very well protected shipping, very good customer support, free return shipping, and no restocking fee. Convinced me to buy a router from Newegg just a day later, so no bad feelings.

Manufacturer Response:

Please trouble shoot the mainboard.
Remove the mainboard from chassis, place it on mainboard’s box.
Clear the CMOS.

Plug the 24 pins + 8 pins ATX power.
Plug the chassis power switch to mainboard, and try again.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks as expected

Pros: The board was really easy to work with and although the print was tiny, the manual was clear and easy to understand.

Cons: No Cone - No Problems.

Other Thoughts: This is a very solid board. Set it up with an i3-4570, a new PS, a solid state drive and 8G RAM in an older Antec case and it worked as expected - flawlessly - when powered on the first time. Installed W8 and had no problems. Now it's running W8.1 and I have no issues with it at all. I don't care for the splashy distracting graphics in the UEFI BIOS, but I can live with that.

It boots to the desktop in less than 20 seconds, and Photoshop comes up in about 4 seconds. Win XP Pro comes up in Oracle Virtual Box in 13 seconds.

Shortly after I got it all set up, I added an LG Super Multi Drive (DVD & CD), and a USB 3.0 Front Panel that fills in a floppy drive space.

The board was really easy to work with and although the print was tiny, the manual was clear and easy to understand (and did I feel old having to use a magnifying glass - but then used the pdf on the CD).

2 out of 5 eggsNo POST, No beeps

Pros: Purchased this board based on the reviews, i felt it was quality board, it looks like that though, but may be i got defective board or CPU i am not sure.

Cons: I got this board with i3 4330 haswell cpu from newegg, i put things together and nothings comes up on monitor, I called AS-ROCK after working with techinician and did few tests with ram without ram, board is not doing any POST, No beeps from the speaker Techinician told me to take out all ram and just try with cpu, chassis speaker supposed to beep, but no beeps, He told at this stage it can be bad motherboard or bad cpu. I was told to return it to retailer along with cpu, I have to do RMA tomorrow. I will update and review the rating after i get the replacement parts.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear chandoo,

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.
All mainboards are fully tested to assure the quality. Unfortunately, due to nature of electronic product, it can happen.
Please update the replacement mainboard's working fine.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Stable Board

Pros: This is a rock solid board, no pun intended. If you are an avid overclocker then this is not for you. It is not supposed to be an overclocking board and I have not even looked at any of that.
This is for the serious builder seeking stability, reliability, speed, and great features. I have a 4771 installed in the board and have not had a single issue. I have Win 8.1 Pro and use Adobe CC suite for video and picture editing. I render 60-90 minute HD Video that will stress out any system to the max.
Runs rock solid renders.
The board does a great job controlling the fan speeds. At idle the fans are inaudible. Once a render starts the Fan speed up accordingly to keep the case and CPU cool.

Cons: None so far

Other Thoughts: I have this setup:

ASRock H87M Pro 4
Intel i7-4771
32GB GSkill
EVGA GTX 560TI
PERC 6/I Raid Card
5X1TB Raid Array - Source Drive
256GB SSD - OS and Application Drive
128GB - Target Drive

Rock Solid

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Matx board

Pros: Sata 6, supports my 4 case fans, 6 usb 3.0, UEFI

Cons: Only 1 PCIe x16, but 1 at 4x

Other Thoughts: Bought another one after flawless performance from my previous one.
Paired with a 4670k and a 4670

You might need to set the stock ram settings from 1333 to whatever your ram supports.
