5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Paired it with a G3258 and it worked right out of the box with no BIOS update needed. Actually had the latest 2.20 version.

Extremely easy to overclock.

Overall a great buy.

Cons: The PCB's brown color

4 out of 5 eggsCheap & Easy Overclock

Pros: Mated this motherboard to an Intel G3258 and couldn't be happier. Literally one-click over clock in UEFI Bios w/o needing to update.

-Cheap
-Ridiculously fast boot
-Easy Overclock
-All peripherals I was looking for

Cons: -Board a little on the flimsy side (but not a huge deal)

Other Thoughts: So far this board has been perfect.

Will update with any future developments.

Cons: This build was for a customer that wanted a small form factor pc that vould be lugged around and play the latest games. It was working well hor him until he brought it in and said that he heard a pop and the computer wouldnt turn on. i immediately assumed it was the psu but after trying my 800 watt psu that was not the case as no power was being delivered to the system with a slight smell coming from inside the case this is the 2nd time ive returned this board and i will not be getting another one

5 out of 5 eggsFor WHS 2011 box

Pros: Rock solid computing platform for my server. I've also used 2 more of these for general home computers.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: My PC case came with a fixed speed fan, so I purchased a PWM fan for quieter operation. I plugged the new fan into the MB chassis fan connector, and tried to set up a fan curve in the BIOS, but kept getting erratic fan operation. I ended up pulling the MB out of the case for an up close and personal inspection.

Right off the bat I noticed a Nuvoton IC marked "3941S". I promptly did a web search and managed to find and download a data sheet for a Nuvoton NCT3941S which is listed as "The NCT3941S/S-A is a simply linear fan driver".

So I dug up my Fluke multimeter and verified that the +12V pin on the "chassis fan" connector supplies a variable DC output in proportion to the PWM value set in BIOS setup. (when PWM=50% , the +12V pin is actually reading 6V.

Because this feature, which is a really cool one, is not mentioned in the documentation, I bought a PWM fan unnecessarily. My original 2 pin case fan can be plugged into the "chassis fan" connector and set up for variable speed vs temperature operation.

4 out of 5 eggsgood mostly but some audio noise

Pros: Great little ITX board, does everything i want, good for future HTPC down the road.

Cons: audio noise issue through speakers at higher volumes. tried everything, 3 different amps, wires, its definitely something in the audio analog out (green plug). going to try optical out, should eliminate any noise....

4 out of 5 eggsnice price, ok mobo

Pros: Great price and easy to work with the clear instruction set.

Cons: The only issue I had was installing the stock drivers. My build has no CD ROM so I tried to use the internet flast from BIOS which I could not get to work. Easy work around was to use another computer with CD to load drivers on USB and transfer that way.

Other Thoughts: I paired this with an i3 4330 and have had a great deal of issue with the HD4600 graphics. The ONLY driver that works is the stock one from mobo manufacturer. The windows update driver causes a bios screen loop. Only two molex fan connectors, so get a splitter if you are running two case fans and proc fan

4 out of 5 eggsRunning Home Ubuntu Server - Good So Far

Pros: Worked right out of box, booted up with relative ease
Running quiet, cool, efficiently
Relatively cheap at the time (esp. for 4th generation miniATX board)
Controls fan well
Able to run my home Linux server(Ubuntu Server 12.04) perfectly fine with minimal driver issues
BIOS okay to navigate, menu/option organization could be better

Cons: Lack of support (esp. for linux/ubuntu)
Wake on lan (WOL) support tricky to set up for Linux

Other Thoughts: Not officially supported for linux according to some other articles/posts. Possible to get working, but a little more difficult because of driver compatability. Going strong for almost a year now. Overall good value buy.

Running:
Ubuntu Server 12.04
Kernel 3.11.0.26 generic
Kingston SSDNow V300 60GB
Cooler Master Elite 120 Case
Crucial Ballistix Sport 8GB DDR3 1333MHz RAM
Antec 430W Green
WD Green 2TB HDD

5 out of 5 eggsCan't be beat for the price

Pros: Price and features. I have had a 4770k in this motherboard for the past 4 months at 4.4Ghz rock solid stable. Recently I wanted to try out the G3258 and this board did not disappoint. With the latest BIOS 2.10 it does support the G3258 and it overclocks beautifully on such a low cost board. 4.6 Ghz at 1.37V. There is nothing bad that I can say about this motherboard at this time.

Cons: None whatsoever in my experience with the board.

Other Thoughts: I really can't believe the value of this motherboard.

1 out of 5 eggsDefective on arrival -- shoddy craftsmanship

Pros: It fit perfectly in my Cooler Master Elite 110 case without any major issues.

Cons: Well, for one, the memory channel on this board is defective and won't recognize my RAM (tested with another PC; working fine). So this board is completely useless, whatever other features it has.

What a piece of junk. For $75 and rush processing/shipping fees, I expect things to actually work when they get here. Googling the issue I found other people with ASRock boards that had the same problem.

I really needed this part ASAP. Now I am stuck without a computer for at least the amount of time it will take to RMA the item. That could be several weeks, and is not an acceptable timetable considering I paid extra for this item to arrive immediately.

If the manufacturer resolves this issue immediately I will change the review. In the meantime, I cannot recommend that anyone try an ASRock product.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Tom,

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.
Please trouble shoot the mainboard whether the issue is resolved.
Unplug the ATX power, remove all components from mainboard.
Remove the mainboard from chassis, place it on mainboard’s box.
Clear the CMOS.
Check the mainboard’s CPU socket contact pins are normal (should be pointing same way and pattern).
Reseat the CPU and heatsink fan if socket pins are normal.
Test with single memory module on each slot individually.
Test with onboard VGA.
Plug the 24 + 4 pins ATX power.
Plug the chassis power switch to mainboard
Turn on the power to check if it POST.
