Pros: Good layout with plenty of sata and usb connections. The esata port works well, although it would be nice if it was hot swappable.

Cons: USB 3 ports on io panel and header do not work. I was really disappointed in this because, it has been a long time since I built my last computer and I really wanted this one to be up to date on the USB and Sata. I am running Linuxmint 17 and have searched the web to see if someone has a fix for this. No luck.

Pros: Works.

Cons: Do not plan on any overclocking on this board with anything past a FX-6300. I can't get my FX-8320 stable at all after stock speeds. The manufacturer should mention the limits of this board as I don't think it could even handle a FX-8350 and up.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat board that drove me to buy another one.

Pros: I already have bought this board awhile ago and ASRock has won my loyalty that I decided to get another one for the home office photo editing. The difference of my build this time is I invested two Samsung Evo 850s in my RAID Mirror and lots of RAM. Launching the Photoshop relatively takes no time comparing with my friend's Giga GA970 that has an equivalent components setup. This beast is on fire and it surely makes people envy on my build.

Cons: Should have come with some ASRock decal so I can stick to my windshield like Apple does!

4 out of 5 eggsGood board.

Pros: It worked first time.

Cons: RAM is stupid hard to install, you have to press down hard enough to almost break the board to get it in the slot, not like you drop it in and lock it. The back plate refused to go on and there was no help in the instructions, its held on with electrical tape inside the case. Doesn't line up well with pre-established mount points in the case. Out of 6 screws I got 3 in and only 1 in all the way.

Other Thoughts: I can't complain too much on a sub $100 board, but dang this thing piss3d me off. Also thought the board was DOA, never plugged in power for the CPU. Felt like an idiot when it was pointed out to me.

5 out of 5 eggsRock solid, nice board for the price.

Pros: The board does well deserve 5 eggs for price and quality. It take my FX8350 right out of the box. UEFI is user friendly and the default settings are pretty much what I expected to have balance performance. Was confused about some setting in SB950 RAID so I emailed ASRock Support. They gave me a surprise by responding to me shortly in a day. They are very helpful and friendly, and provided me with some downright intuitive answer. You made my day ASRock. Thank you!

Cons: It doesn't smell like roses!

2 out of 5 eggsSeems to be a very good product but DOA :(

Pros: -Seems to be a very decent Motherboard.

Cons: -DOA on arrival, fans worked but nothing on screen. I've searched on the internet for answers, checked connections everything. But it was only the motherboard.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued ASRock Customer,

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.

Please follow the procedure to check your system.
Step1:
Turn off the system power and unplug the power cord/cables. Remove all PnP cards (Plug and Play) and cables including VGA, USB, and external devices.
Step2:
Re-install CPU and only install one stick memory to verify, then confirm CPU and DRAM is inserted properly.
Step3:
Clear CMOS
(Please refer to motherboard user manual for clearing CMOS)
Step4:
Plug the power cable back to the system and also re-connect your monitor, mouse and keyboard.
Step5:
Turn on the power and make sure CPU, and CPU fan is functioning.
If it's still not no display, please change another CPU, memory for try.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks fine, some annoyances.

Pros: - Inexpensive (when I bought it) -- praying I get the $35 rebate.
- Attractive and comprehensive BIOS config interface.
- Rock-solid performance.

Cons: - XFast advertising is potentially misleading... it's just software.
- Some components (SATA ports, chipset heatsinks) seem a little loose on the motherboard.
- Can't figure out how to get the keyboard backlight to turn off on Sleep.
- Can't figure out how to get a BIOS POST screen/logo on startup.
- No on-board video.

Other Thoughts: I'm not an "extreme" overclocker. I installed 1866 RAM and boosted the base CPU clock up 5 MHz. Everything runs cool and rock solid with an FX-8320, Hyper 212 Plus cooler and G.Skill memory.

The XFast LAN software is nice. I haven't tried the USB or RAM software. I'm somewhat fearful of the USB software but I've seen that it actually works and the latter is just a ram disk solution.

2 out of 5 eggsI had the previous gen of this mobo

Pros: It was cheap
it worked well initially
I think I got it as part of a bundle deal off of new egg - not sure about that though

Cons: cheap - lol - for an extra $10 you could get an ASUS or another competitors board with a 3 year warranty vs. this one's 1 year warranty. And wouldn't you know it - the mobo worked for 12 or 13 months - then I started to have really weird lag / CPU issues - I'd run WOW on ultra and the CPU would be maxed out at 99% - with a 4ghz 8 core AMD - then finally after having owned it for 16 months it just died - shut down and that was it.

I bought an ASUS w/ a 3 year warranty - installed it and was up and running in about 2 hours after updates and such - went for CPU usage of 99% on Ultra settings in WOW to 15- 20% CPU usage in wow.

build is now - ASUS M5A97 R2.0 MOBO
16 gb corsair 1600 ddr3
xfx 6870 GPU
AMD 4 ghz 8 core cpu

the only change was the mobo - went from 99% cpu usage to 15 to 20% on the same build.

Other Thoughts: get a mobo with a 3+ year warranty - I won't ever trust another mobo manufacturer with a 1 yr warrant.
