1 out of 5 eggsLasted 4.5 months

Pros: I got 4.5 months out of the board. Small, compact. Plenty of USB ports ( 3 x 3.0 and 5 x 2.0), an HD Audio jack, an RJ-45 ethernet port, 1 x DVI-D and 1 x S-Sub (VGA) port.

Cons: It had all kinds of hiccups during that 4.5 months. It was the motherboard of a mid-level gaming computer I bought in mid October. I was playing BF 4 on it and noted I was getting some artifacting, ghosts, stutters and the occasional drop from the game while playing so I monitored the heat a bit more while playing and found it was heating up a little but not to any degree that should harm the board. I originally thought it didn't have enough fans for a mid level gamer so I put an additional fan (external) that blew on the computer and that seemed to have calmed it down... for a month. Finally, one day while I was playing a quick round or two it totally died on me. The onboard graphics (Radeon HD 8670D Graphics) evidently torched... I replaced it with a Sapphire toxic R9 270X PCIe GPU and bumped up the power supply with a Rosewill 850W but the motherboard would have nothing to do with it. It was done... toast. So, if you're getting it for a mid level gamer, don't. Luckily, the folks that I bought the computer from are doing an RMA for a new motherboard. They're standing behind their product.

Also cons but they fall in line with the motherboard's compact size. Only three expansion slots- PCIe 2.0(x16) (running x16), PCIe 2.0(x1) slot and 1 PCI slot. No HDMI port and no wireless but I remedied the wireless with a simple fob purchase. I don't think they put too much thought in the board's layout. There's just doesn't seem to be enough room to add cooling peripherals, etc. It gets hot fast. I used the stock (300 watt) power supply for the first 3 months and was getting all kids of ghosts, etc. in BF4. I put an externally powered fan on the machine and installed the 850 watt power supply and it ran at about the same temperature... a bit less. I just don't think the board could handle the graphics that was stock on the board. If you're going to use this board for gaming then buy a separate gpu, imho.

Other Thoughts: I expect another ASRock board to come back my way via the computer company's RMA. I'll give that a go and see where it takes me. I have 7 more months on my warranty. All's good with the computer manufacturer so far.

1 out of 5 eggsDoA NoPower

Pros: I liked the board layout.

Cons: Board was DoA, couldnt get it to power up at all. Tested the power supply on another board and booted fine. This is the second time I have ordered a board from this company and the 2nd time it has been DoA. I think its time to stay away from AS Rock like its the plague.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Motherboard

Pros: Has a lot of high tech features and setting to (If you have the right video card) to boot in to windows 8 almost instantly.

Cons: If you don't set set the instant widows 8 boot right you might have to reset your bios to turn it off.

Other Thoughts: So far it is working great!

5 out of 5 eggsGood boards

Pros: The UEFI bios looks cool.
Stable.
I ordered 17 from Newegg business this spring and my 4th graders all built computers. They all worked after they built them. We put in SSDs and plenty of RAM and no crashes yet on Windows 7 32.

Cons: They along with the A10 cpus I bought are pickier on power supplies than the old motherboards had been. The power supplies buzzed. I had to buy new ones. They need specific amperage requirements. I don't mean like 500 Watts, but a power supply rated to handle them.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Entry Level

Pros: For the price you can't go wrong. ASRock delivers quality motherboards. USB 3 included.

Cons: No cons I can think of.

Other Thoughts: I donated my regular computer to a good cause. I combined this with an A6 series processor and some used parts I had and I was up and running for under $150.

1 out of 5 eggsWorthless

Pros: Size and layout are pretty nice

Cons: This was intended for a replacement in a XP machine that had an ECS motherboard that died after 5 months.

ZERO support for XP at all - can't even get the CD to boot XP.
Doesn't work with XWindows under LINUX at all, can't get the Catalyst driver to work at all
TOTALLY WORTHLESS for what I needed it to do, and wasted 2 DAYS trying to get ANYTHING I needed to install on it to work.

Other Thoughts: OS support needs to be LISTED on these motherboards. HInt, some of us are NOT interested in the latest AND BUGGIEST STILL NOT FIXED or just flat out BROKEN OS versions out of Mickey$loth.

1 out of 5 eggsDied after 5 months

Pros: Able to update BIOS over the internet from the BIOS.

Cons: Died after 5 months. Received RMA and sent it back and it's been weeks. Emailed their customer service to check status and 0 response.

Other Thoughts: I was fine with having to replace the board and do a RMA even though I've never had to do it with any of my MSI boards but then it's been weeks with no contact from the company even after emailing them to check the status.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear ASRock Customer

Sorry to hear that the mainboard has malfunctioned after 5 months which’s due to nature of electronic product, it can happen.
We're usually shipping back for replacement mainboards within 1 week.

4 out of 5 eggsNot a bad board

Pros: It works just fine. Booted right up and 0 software/driver issues. Not a grat overclocker but good, it was not needed or expected at this price. For under $60 it was a bargain. Very easy to turbo boost the APU and easy mem overclock. I will say it was my 1st Asrock and the UEFI was a bit confusing but all of my recent boards have been Asus until this. Once figured out it was not too bad.

Cons: For under $60 I can't really think of any cons but for the UEFI being a bit hard to get at 1st.

Other Thoughts: AMD A8 6600k @ 4.2 GHz boost
Corsair HX 650 PSU
Seagate 500 GB 64 MB Cache HDD
8 GB's 2x4 Team Vulcan 1600 Mem @ 1866 1.55v
Bit Fenix case
This is a midrange Gammer with a GPU upgrade comming and this board was a great way to start.
Asus DVD WR Optical drive
6 120mm fans
Total $450 Aprox.

5 out of 5 eggsR1.0 owner

Pros: If it's an improvement of R1.0 then it's great.
Seriously it's worth the purchase, you get exactly what it says you get for cheap.

Cons: R1.0 was discontinued right after I bought it. (other thoughts)

There is always a chance of getting a DOA part no matter where you look. (seriously I read a review of a guy getting DOA zip-ties)

Also make sure you get decent cooling because the north bridge can get kind of warm.

Other Thoughts: I was kind of concerned that the motherboard I bought was discontinued a week after I bought it and replaced with this, but it's not having any issues thus far, so I guess they just wanted to upgrade. If you want to see other reviews for the discontinued version here's the item number. N82E16813157331
