1 out of 5 eggsASRock sucks!

Pros: Nice box!

Cons: ASRock simply sucks! This review is nothing to do with the motherboard themselves.

I've received this motherboard 2 months ago with missing piece in the box. The I/O panel shield. I've contacted Newegg and ASRock immediately to ask if they can send me another I/O panel shield. Newegg answered me the same day. At this time, they don't had any board on stock so they offer me a full refund by RMA or a $15 credit on my next purchase. Very nice and professional from their part.

Otherwise, Deisy from ASRock replied to me 3 days later and asked me a proof of purchase. Which I give by email the same day. I've received a new email from Deisy 6 days later where she asked me "What is the missing piece you are missing?"... In my first email, the missing piece was clearly describe. It was really frustrating and unprofessional. At this point, I've understood the process will be long and complicate.

I've replied to Deisy with a copy-paste with the line from my first email where I've described the missing part ("I've buy this motherboard from Newegg last week and the rear I/O panel shield was missing in the box").

Two days later (December 5), Deisy from ASRock replied to me "I will mailed the I/O shield soon.". Nice!

December 11 : Without any information if the shield was sent or not, I've recontacted Deisy again to know what happening with the I/O shield. She doesn't answer.

December 16 : Without answer, I've recontacted Deisy again to know what happens.

December 17 : She finally answers and say the finally don't have any I/O shield in stock and they wait for it.

January 7: I've sent another message to Deisy to know what happens with the missing I/O shield and their stock.

January 10 : Whitout answer, I've resend another message to Deisy. She finally replied '"We don't have any accessories for the Z87 Extreme4/TB4 I'm waiting for inventory to come so I could send you the I/O Shield." the same day.

Today : I'm still WAITING since 2 months for a stupid piece of metal which look very complicate to obtain for the manufacturer themself.

ASRock customer service and after sale support look very akward and unprofessional. Seriously, I don't care if they do nice board if they aren't able to respect their customers by offering them a nice and efficient after sale support.

Manufacturer Response:

1 out of 5 eggsLinux Fail

Pros: Has Thunderbolt Ports

Cons: Suspend and Shutdown don't work under Linux. Maybe the kernel/driver guys will figure out it eventually, but plan on keeping your case open to hit the Clear CMOS button until they do.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear ASRock Customer

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.
Unfortunately, we do not provide the Linux OS drivers.
Please visit the mainboard’s drivers link at " ".

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Board!!!!

Pros: Tons of Features, Great Price, Build quality is excellent.
Dual Bios Chips, Onboard Power Switch, Great UEFI Bios, Easy to Overclock.

Cons: Onboard Video is pretty bad. I am using an Intel i4770K Haswell, with Windows 7 64 bit. Ity would not run Aero and was very sluggish. This is not ASRocks fault, it is Intels. Intel needs major work on the video portion of their CPU's.

Other Thoughts: Great Motherboard!!!! This board does it all at a great price!! I build lots of computers for people and have changed to ASRock boards over the years. I have had a couple of DOA boards, but compared to how many I have built... I will stay with ASRock. I have had DOA boards from all the large manufacturers. The current ASRock company reminds me of what Asus used to be. For my own build I chose the ASRock Z87 Extreme4/TB4 . I am using an Intel i74770K CPU with 32GB of G.Skill Trident X Series DDR3-2400. The board powered up and worked perfectly from the start. A few very minor and quick changes in the bios and my memory was running at top speed. Once updating all the boards drivers and the boards latest bios, it has run perfectly and very fast. I love that the board has dual bios chips. You can run two different bios versions or easily roll back to an older one, or if the bios update fails you can still boot and use the computer. Other than getting a DOA motherboard, the most common problem I have come across is killing a motherboard while updating to a new bios. My worst experiences have been with Asus. I have had to solder many new surface mount bios chips onto Asus boards to bring them back to life. I must add that on another recent ASRock build, the bios update failed. I called ASRock and the Tech Support was great. Within a few days I received a replacement bios chip and plugged it in. That was only the second time I called ASRock for support, but each tme they were very helpful. I have pretty much tested each feature of this board and everything seems to be working perfectly. The only thing I have not tested yet are the Thunderbolt connections. The UEFI bios is great and was pretty easy to overclock the cpu. As with all motherboards I have installed, The manual is never descriptive enough about each setting in the bios. If I come across a setting that I am not very familiar with, I search the internet before making a decision on the setting. I would consider this an enthusiast board and highly recommend it.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Board

Pros: - fast boot options for people who want to boot quickly and for those who don't
- BIOS is easy to use
- dehumidifier is actually pretty useful since it's rainy and humid where I live right now
- Automatically picked up my mems XMP profile
- OCing is straight forward

Cons: - Just nit picking here sorry but the BIOS labeling and categorization needs some work, some of the stuff just doesn't make much sense lol. Not an issue for anyone with a bit on knowledge though.

Other Thoughts: I've already did some light OCing with my haswell i7 and it's rock solid so far. I'm getting 2 290x's for crossfire goodness soon!
