5 out of 5 eggsGreat board

Pros: Inexpensive
Overclocking
Color Scheme
Great Bios

Cons: No USB 3.0 header for front panel

Other Thoughts: For the price to performance on this board it is a buy now for me. I own 2 of these and I can say that it is a great buy. I don't really use many USB 3.0 devices so I just used my 2.0 header for my case and no one knows the difference.

5 out of 5 eggsDecent MoBo

Pros: If you are looking for a mid range performance build to fit in a small case, this is a very good board to go with.

Cons: There was an issue where 'noise' was passed through the USB interface when the PCIe slot was under a heavy load. This never affected my mouse or keyboard that I noticed, but with my audio interface box there was definitely noise that grew louder the more load was put on my video card.

I'm aware this is a seemingly impossible issue but after replacing almost all the components in my main system one by one since having this board in it, I am absolutely sure this is what was causing it. (Since replacing this board the issue is now gone.)

Very specific situation though. Powerful gaming video card plus an audio interface box over USB to replicate.

5 out of 5 eggsReliable and stable at stock speeds

Pros: Works out of the box when everything is at stock speeds. Paired with an Intel G3258 and 8GB of DDR3 1600 RAM. The motherboard supports up to 1600 but the processor brings the RAM down to 1300. No big deal, I already knew this is what the processor supported. Not the motherboard's fault. Love the dark black color. Windows 8 installed with no problems. BIOS version was not up to date, about to versions behind but the processor worked right off the bat. To overclock you do need to update the BIOS. I recommend flashing the BIOS with a thumb drive. I almost bricked the motherboard using the Windows update method. I began to test overclocking but got BSOD'd, but still reading up on this specific motherboard. Onboard video works great via HDMI at 1080p. Plays Netflix, YouTube, MKV files just fine and smooth. Optical audio also works great out of the box. There are two drivers I had to install from the disc which Windows did not automatically detect. Added an MSI R9 270 and this system kills next gen consoles. I created a video of the build and added some game tests on YouTube.

My father was impressed with this motherboard he requested for me to build him an HTPC.

Cons: Overall no cons. I wish there was a USB 3.0 front panel header but there's the B85M-ITX which does have it for not much more in cost.

Other Thoughts: This makes a great mini ITX next gen console competitor at a low cost when paired with a low-mid range GPU.

4 out of 5 eggsAlmost great

Pros: LGA 1150.
SATA III
USB3
ITX.
Performance.
Price.

Cons: No front panel USB3 support.

Other Thoughts: Now you could consider this my fault as I did not look closely enough to realize but no 19 pin front panel USB3 header on this MB is disappointing.
Never thought that was a corner that would be cut on any MB.
If it supported USB3 then the front panel should be included.
Not on this MB.
Otherwise it is a great ITX board that I used to build a SFF office PC that is very quick.
That is my only gripe with this board.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear ASRock Customer

Thank you for your purchase and review.
Due to Intel H81 chipset limitation, it only supports 2 x USB 3.0 (at rear I/O), unless using third party USB 3.0 controller.
Unfortunately, front USB 3.0 header is not available on this model.
If you have any technical inquiry or warranty question in the future please contact us at http://www.ASRock.com/support/tsd.asp. We will assist you shortly.

Thank you

5 out of 5 eggsSo far so good for HTPC build

Pros: Works as expected.
BIOS interface is easy to navigate.
Layout is pretty good if you're using the Antec ISK 110 case, although you will have to remove the front audio connectors and cable from the case because the ATX power connector on the motherboard is in the way.

Cons: HDMI audio doesn't work out of the box with Windows 8.1. You need to manually install Intel's video drivers to get HDMI audio. Intel's web-based "Driver Update Utility" will tell you that all your drivers are up-to-date but it's lying.

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect!

Pros: HDMI, value, Asrock's awesome BIOS, 16gb ram support, usb 3.0

Cons: only 2 sata ports, maybe?

Other Thoughts: Used this board twice now for windows steam box builds and htpc use. Excellent for a gamer on a budget, or simply a user looking for something small, powerful, and with plenty of input/output options for maximum compatibility with what they already own. I'm using the HDMI output and streaming netflix and playing some games through it. (Monitor for games sensitive to lag of course.) As far as the complaints on USB 3.0...it's on the rear...just plug it in in the back if you're that concerned. Get a good case. My elite 110 has 2 backwards compatible 3.0 ports on the front panel, so you still get easy access 2.0 up front. This motherboard is awesome. If you need any more than 16gb of ram, 3.0 up front, or more than 2 sata ports, you probably shouldn't go itx anyways. For me, it's the way of the future.

5 out of 5 eggsA fine basic mobo

Pros: Price, eSATA port, works great, Ultra Fast Boot mode.

Cons: No USB3 header and only one USB2 header but in my case this wasn't a con.

Other Thoughts: Intel i3-4130
Crucial Ballsitix Sport VLP DDR3L-1600 8GB
Crucial M500 120 GB
Antec ISK 110 VESA
Windows 8.1

Thanks to the combination of this mobo's UEFI and ultra fast boot mode, Win8, and the SSD this PC boots in 7 seconds.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat for a first build

Pros: Motherboard install was easy, ran into very few problems even for my first-time build. Not the most computer-savvy person, but I knew just enough to comfortably put it together. Very good basic board.

Cons: Here we go. Now that I'm upgrading my computer and whatnot, I find that this thing does not have enough ports. I wish it came with more USB header slots (!!! USB Header is only 2.0 which was a bit of a bummer.) and more than just two SATA ports. Can be a bit of hassle when you want to use several small SSDs instead of large capacity HDDs. Still, it's not a big deal for the price.

Other Thoughts: The pros far outweigh the cons. If I had to make another basic mITX build I would easily buy this again.

4 out of 5 eggsNice Little Board

Pros: Small. Supports standard desktop processors and memory. Nice graphical BIOS.

Cons: No front panel USB 3.0. My bad. I didn't check for it before I purchased. I should have bought the B85 version that does have it. Oh well... I think it's built on the same board because this one just has empty solder pads where the connector should go.
