4 out of 5 eggsIt gets the job done

Pros: This form factor is convenient, and the built in wireless came in handy for my purposes.

Cons: The only let downs that i encountered, were the minimal amount of fan headers, and cooling options. As everyone knows AMD's stock cooling solutions are utterly despicable, so as someone in their right mind I opted for an AIO solution. I copped an (Enermax Liqtech 120x) amazing cooler by the way, but on this motherboard there are soldered bits on the back which restricted the coolers back plate which rendered it usless

Other Thoughts: Besides those two complications, everything was good

1 out of 5 eggsTwo Bad Boards

Pros: Inexpensive.

Cons: Blue screens like crazy.

Other Thoughts: I had orinally gotten this motherboard a year ago, and it worked fine for a few months. However I had hard disk issues, so I decided to buy a new hard disk. Then things were fine until I got BSODs on that disk, so I got an SSD. After the same behavior happened again with the SSD, and finding no issues with the RAM via memtest, I RMA'd my board through ASRock and it was approved (RMA #1503291). However, the replacement board has had more frequent BSODs than before! I'd get one or more a day - sometimes my PC would abruptly restart without warning. I wouldn't recommend this board to anyone. I've spent more time troubleshooting this than actually using my computer.

1 out of 5 eggsDefected board as well

Pros: Small and compact. Fits my cooler master elite 110. The CPU fan works when plugging in the power supply.

Cons: Unfortunately, the onboard video was defected. I tried VGA, DVI, HDMI cables. Tested with 1 ram stick and also checked if the RAM was plugged in properly. After reading newegg comments, I followed the ASRock manufacture guidelines below:

• Unplug the ATX power, remove all components from mainboard.
• Remove the mainboard from chassis, place it on mainboard’s box.
• Clear the CMOS.
• Reseat the CPU and heatsink fan.
• Test with single memory module.
• Test with onboard video.
• Connect the monitor.
• Plug the 24 + 4 pins ATX power.
• Connect the chassis power switch to mainboard, and try again.

Still no luck. I had a speaker that came with my case, but no beep was present at all.

Other Thoughts: I bought this combo:
A8 -7600
ASRock FM2A88X-ITX+ with the sticker saying P2.4
GSkill Ripjaw 2 x 4 gb 2400 MHz

Newegg is planning to send me a replacement, but it's going to take days of processing..... so I'm crossing fingers hoping it will work this time!!

5 out of 5 eggsI'll give it a 5

Pros: This little guy has been installed in 2 separated computer cases now. (Not recommended), but it has been pulled out of those cases for cpu changes, upgrades, rebuilds, etc at least 4 times, and has held up really well.

I like it's look.
I like it's wireless.
& I like it's abilities.

Cons: No specific cons with the motherboard itself, just with placing certain wires into it. As stated in my previous comment I just hated how the front panel function wires went in, but that's the same with all PC cases & motherboards.

Other Thoughts: I have not have a problem with the hd audio wires I managed to fit them in with my graphics card just fine. Now that I clearly know what I'm doing I can see that this motherboard is better then I original thought. Thank you ASRock for the support.

2 out of 5 eggsunsure as to problem

Pros: all the features you could need

Cons: performance degrades over 48 hours until a reboot

Other Thoughts: 4 identical builds all 16gb ddr3 2400 all kaveri 7850k all ssd's boot and data. some intel ssd, some corsair, some Samsung, but in each system identical boot and data drives. all these itx's slow down after 48 hours. ATXMB same chipset same manufacturer does not. need to reboot every 48. I have a 6800k at home on a 85x chipset runs for weeks at a time no performance hit but these start to visibly lag. looking at the expense of building tax's just moving all the hardware over to new case and mb as this is unacceptable.

Manufacturer Response:

4 out of 5 eggsRequires Graphics Card

Pros: Reliable board, been using it in an ubuntu server and has been running for 28 days 24/7 plus several weeks on and off before that, all with no trouble. Easy to use BIOS, very helpful as it shows every port and what is in said port.

Cons: Could not for the life of me get this board to boot without a graphics card, sent the first one back due to this problem, not sure if its actually a defect or a "feature". stopped by the local computer store and picked up the cheapest GPU they had as the board is for a server that only has a command line.

Other Thoughts: very happy with this, wish I knew I couldn’t use it without a discrete gpu though.

4 out of 5 eggsInitial results

Pros: Pros: So far it works. Nice design and feature set.

Cons: 1) Don't like the 5 beeps appearing then vanishing with no reason that I can figure out.
2) The CPU heats up when in the BIOS settings menu like their previous board I have (FM2A85X-ITX).
3) There is no way to disable the wireless in the BIOS.
4) When I asked their tech support via email if the board supports the Kaveri APU running Windows XP their answer was basically we have no idea, try it and see if it works.

Other Thoughts: This is just a preliminary review of the FM2A88X-ITX+ motherboard. I received the board 4 days ago. I assembled it on the anti-static bench with the A10-7800 APU and everything worked fine. I loaded up both Windows XP-32 and Windows 7-64 and both ran just fine. Benchmarks, games and diagnostics all looked good. I was running the RAM at 2133 and that worked. I tried my 2400 RAM (G. Skill Ares) but it didn't run at 2400, it ran just fine at 2133. I didn't try the wireless capability in either case but the drivers are not supposed to support Windows XP-32.

When I put it in the case and fired it up I got 5 quick beeps (I assume it means processor error). However Windows 7 loaded just fine and the benchmarks looked ok. I removed everything but the power connector and was still getting the 5 beeps. I removed the motherboard from the case and just ran the power supply and the motherboard (no keyboard, monitor, etc) and kept getting 5 beeps. I unplugged and rebooted the system over 10 times yesterday afternoon and evening, every time getting 5 beeps.

This morning I powered it up and still was getting 5 beeps. I decided to try some diagnostic software, so I plugged in the monitor, keyboard and mouse and powered up the system, no beeps. I removed the monitor, keyboard and mouse and still no beeps. It has been running to day being power cycled, put back into the case and there are no beeps, none.

I have no idea why I was receiving the 5 beeps and no idea why they went away. I am posting this because others have mentioned the 5 beep problem.

Everything was assembled on an anti-static mat with wrist strap so I doubt static charge was an issue.

If the Gigabyte ITX board supported the Kaveri processor running Windows XP I would probably have tried that one first, but their board only runs XP with the Trinity APU line. Looks like I will try the MSI board next.

For those who are wondering we are controlling hardware and the software only runs under XP, not Vista and not Windows 7. We are looking at purchasing replacement systems just incase the current ones die.

5 out of 5 eggsUpdated Review after Build Completion.

Pros: Running like a champ. My 12 year old son completed his build based on this board. It is being used as we speak as an HTPC. My wife loves the fact that we can disable the Power light on the front of the Corsair 250D case. It's possible through the ASRock software included. I must say, the software they include is really nice. Usually that stuff from any manufacturer is pretty buggy but I am very pleased.

Cons: None so far. Nothing I would call a con, just things that are common place when building around an ITX board. You can't expect ATX or Micro ATX.

Other Thoughts: Not a con for me but as I stated in an earlier review of this board during the build, the onboard usb 2.0 ports can be hard to reach if you attach a large cpu heat sink before attaching the usb 2.0 cables. I recommend using low profile memory. I.E. GSKILL Aries or similar. Large heat sinks can block the inner most memory dimm if you use taller memory.

My son tested the motherboard on our test bench before mounting in the case. He used a Rasberry Pi Remote keyboard with track pad. Reason: It doesn't require a driver to operate. Here are a list of parts in the build for anyone looking at compatibility.

Case: Corsair 250D ( ITX case) Great airflow and nice appeal.
Power Supply: Rosewill Capstone -550M Modular
CPU: AMD A8-7600
Memory: GSKILL Aries 2133Mhz Memory 4Gb x 2 ( 8Gb )
CPU Heatsink: Scythe Big Shuriken CPU Cooler.
SSD: Corsair BX100 250GB ( Boot Drive )
Data: Seagate 1Tb Mechanical Hard Drive
TV: Hauppage 2250 Dual TV Tuner Card.
My son swapped the included Corsair Case fans for these:
1 Rosewill 140mm PWM fan, 2 Gelid 120mm PWM fans.
Being there is only one 4pin system fan header, he used a Silverstone 1 into 3 4pin splitter. Works like a charm.
For the remote he used the infrared receiver from an HP Media Center remote. It's attached to I/O panel via usb. We have the HTPC connected to our Onkyo AVR via HDMI. The Onkyo is attached to TV via HDMI. We are able to control all three devices with a Logitech Harmony One Remote. My son set up the HTPC to go to sleep when the power button on the Harmony One is pressed. The TV turns off and the Onkyo AVR turns off but the PC will go to sleep. When we want to turn the tv on and watch tv, we simply touch the "Watch TV" screen icon on the Harmony One and a few seconds later we are watching tv. One tip if anyone has this problem and can't figure it out. If you watch live tv through your computer and get an annoying flickering, go into catalyst control center (if you are using AMD based graphics) and select video, quality, and uncheck the "enable dynamic contrast" box.

So proud of my son on his 1st solo build. The only thing he messed up and old daddy had to help with was when he put the motherboard in, he didn't notice that one of the little metal tabs on the inside of the I/O shield caught the HDMI In port and bent where it blocked you from inserting the HDMI cable. Took a couple seconds to remedy and voila! If anyone is curious as to how it is doing temperature and sound-wise, here are the numbers. CPU at idle ranges 27-31C, Motherboard 26-29C. I have the fans set to standard mode in bios and it is barely audible. You have to be within a couple feet to hear it and even then it's very faint.

Also with everything at stock settings our Windows WEI scores are:

CPU 7.4
Memory 7.7
Graphics 6.9 (both)
Hard Drive ( SSD ) 7.9

I can say this is a fine little motherboard and I would recommend.

5 out of 5 eggsHelp for Aditya

Pros: N/A

Cons: N/A

Other Thoughts: Aditya, 5 beeps is usually a Processor Error. Usually, you can re-seat the Processor. I know it's a pain but I would try re-seating it.
