5 out of 5 eggsHelp for Aditya

Pros: N/A

Cons: N/A

Other Thoughts: Aditya, 5 beeps is usually a Processor Error. Usually, you can re-seat the Processor. I know it's a pain but I would try re-seating it.

2 out of 5 eggsThought I would be pleased with it but not

Pros: Cheaper than other Motherboards of this class
H.D. Audio (which i never got to test)

Cons: Haven't gotten it to work
The design is off. (Memory slots are on the side with the 24 pin power supply, as pictured, however, the brackets for the CPU cooler aren't as pictured front to back but rather from side to side. So the heat pipes of my ITX CPU cooler are pushing up on the inside RAM stick.

Other Thoughts: I picked this board over the MSI one I originally wanted to go with because this board offered an amplifier which for me was big because I constantly am listening to music at my desk. However, I should have followed my first choice and have gone with the MSI.

I have had nothing but trouble since I purchased this board. The first one I received I had to RMA it with Newegg because it was DOA. The actual RMA process wasn't too bad thanks to the associate that helped me out.

I received the second one and unfortunately this PC project had to be put on hold for a few weeks. Now I get back to it and this second board is having problems as well. The USB ports on the back aren't working properly because it isn't powering up my mouse. There is also no display or beeps when I power it up. Leaving me to think that I got a faulty board. Luckily I did purchase the insurance for this product but I did not expect this build to be so much hasel and a waste of time.

5 out of 5 eggsTest benching it and so far its a winner!

Pros: Excellent build quality. Plenty of I/O connections for about anything. Onboard USB 3.0 and 2.0.. 6 Onboard SATA with an additional e-sata on I/O panel. Realtek ALC 1150 Audio Codec.

Cons: Not really a con to me but more of a heads up to future buyers. The Onboard USB 2.0 headers can be obscured by large CPU heatsinks. Not an issue other than you might have to attach case usb cables before the CPU heatsink.

Other Thoughts: My son is 12 and a GURU, so I am letting him do this build. Our Windows 7 64 bit OS hasn't arrived yet so we are playing around with this build on the test bench. He downloaded all current drivers and bios from ASRock site. Using his Raspberry Pi wifi keyboard for mouse and keyboard functions.

G.SKILL F3-2133C9D-8GAB 2133Mhz Memory 2x4gb Dimms
AMD A8-7600 APU
Scythe Big Shuriken CPU Cooler. ( PWM fan )

Test Bench PSU-Corsair VX550
Test Bench HDD-WD2500KS
Acer X192W Monitor (Connected with D-Sub cable)

Inserted APU into mobo, inserted memory, applied rice sized dab of Arctic Silver 5 to APU heatsink.

Connected PSU to mobo..connected Hard Drive via SATA cable to SATA 1 port.. Connected Monitor via D-Sub..

If you've never done this, the cheap redneck way is to take a small screwdriver and touch the power button and ground connectors on the mobo ( Where you would hook case wires for the power button ) This will boot the PC. Then my son used his Raspberry Pi remote keyboard to enter bios. I must say, the ASRock UEFI bios has a great look and feel. He inserted the USB flash drive which had the 2.6 Bios version. ( board came with 2.4 ) Rebooted and then under tools menu in bios, selected instant flash. It instantly found the file on the USB flash drive. Selected the file and it updated Bios. Rebooted and back into bios. He then selected the OC Tweaker option in top menu and set the memory to 2133Mhz. He is now just letting it idle along as I type to facilitate the break in of the thermal paste.

I posted this just so some people that may not know might possible realize how easy it is to update the BIOS. Keep in mind that we have not added an OS or any drivers. OS should be in tomorrow.

Overall 1st impression is- VERY IMPRESSED... Nice build quality.

I would point out to future buyers: If you plan on using a CPU heat sink that has a large footprint, the USB 2.0 headers should be connected 1st because larger heatsinks can block direct access. SATA ports will be no problem even with large heatsinks.

3 out of 5 eggsPoor manual poor support

Pros: Great Features for the price.
Really compact motherboard.
Nice to have Wifi and BT onboard.
Accommodates larger dGPUs like the EVGA GeForce GTX 650 Ti Boost

Cons: The motherboard was fine when I setup my rig but I was having driver issues with my EVGA card resulting in it freezing a few hours after use. Perhaps the driver wasn't well tested for the Dell 4K screen I was testing it on. So I tried disconnecting the EVGA dGPU and going with the onboard iGPU. Machine refused to boot with 5 short beeps, if my memory serves me right that means the GPU isn't detected.

The printed manual was small and had no troubleshooting steps. Even the PDF manual couldn't say what 5 beeps meant. Looking online wasn't much help either and given that I have taken the motherboard out of the country RMA isn't an option. I just wish AsRock had proper tech support who would get back to me in time or at least some documentation!

I lodged a complaint on but haven't heard back:
"System doesn't boot , doesn't even reach BIOS settings page and beeps 5 times. We have tried removing multiple components but the beeps persist. Looking through Asrock FAQ I find that the system cannot find the GPU.

Removing the Geforce PCI-E external dGPU and attempting to boot from the onboard iGPU doesn't work either .....still beeps 5 times.

Paper manual & PDF manual do not provide troubleshooting steps. We have tried clearing the BIOS and resetting it but it doesn't help"

Other Thoughts: You buy a good motherboard after doing your bit of reading...I just hope AsRock will read this and provide me with a solution!

4 out of 5 eggsAcceptional mini board

Pros: Very smooth running and I like how easy it was to work within the CMOS menu to check settings.

Cons: Only thing I can say is that the first board was DOA, but RMAd it and was able to get it replaced with a working one.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat board for the price but hit a snag when installing a cooler.

Pros: Really great value board. Also has 6 SATA ports which I needed for video archiving.

Cons: 1) 4-pin CPU connector is placed right above the PCIe slot. Kind of ruins the overall look if you wanna show off your build with a windowed-case.

2) I have a Hyper 212 EVO cooler which won't fit as THERE ARE 2 LITTLE CHIPS BELOW THE BOARD which obstructs the backplate for the cooler.

3) Wire for the built-in WiFi card to I/O plate crosses paths with the cooler. But easily manageable.

Other Thoughts: If you want to install an aftermarket fan cooler, go with the Cooler Master Hyper TX3 as it utilizes the same mounting for the stock cooler on FM2+ APUs.

2 out of 5 eggsWarped board after a year

Pros: Small size, good performing chipset, built in wireless.

Cons: only 2 dimm slots

Other Thoughts: I paired this with a A10 7700k with stock cooler and had it in a small factor case. after a year the cpu heat warped the board along the middle. Looks bent in the middle. I opened the case to upgrade the memory after a year and noticed the problem. I noticed the memory wasn't going all the way in because the slot had warped with the board so it was curved shape not straight. Might of not be the board's fault, I don't know. The heat from the small case or the underpar stock cpu fan might of caused the issue.

3 out of 5 eggsRough install

Pros: Great board for a media server or NAS.

Cons: Shipped with a bios chip that did not support the new (on sale) CPU that I bought from Newegg. I did not have a second compatible CPU that I could update the bios with, so I contacted ASRock. Their friendly tech staff took a few days to get back to me. But then when I proved my case to them, they offered to send me an updated bios chip that I could replace on the board. It never came. I verified the address I gave them and contacted them again. Then said "it should have come by now" but offered to send a second one. It never came. I went to the local computer part store and just bought a cheap compatible CPU. Figured I would flash the bios and return it. It flashed with no problems. I popped in the original (faster) CPU and it still didn't boot. <sigh> So I popped in the 2nd CPU and tried again... etc. Spent two nights trying to get it to work with no luck. So I gave up on that and decided to just use the new CPU and get on with my build. Mean while I went onto Neweggs site to try and return the original CPU and it is past the time I can return it. Slow tech support means I am stuck with the CPU. Oh well. I finished my NAS and it is great. Three days later, the bios chip shows up in my mail. DOH!

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued ASRock Customer

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.
Due to the mainboard has been released before processor, the BIOS update is needed to recognizing the new processor.

3 out of 5 eggsGood board, bad wifi connectors, bad documentation, bad ram support

Pros: -Very good UEFI interface with lots of bells and whistles
-Built in wifi and bluetooth which were big pluses

Cons: -Hideously small internal connector for built in wifi. I broke one of the gold metal connectors /immediately/ while trying to install it. You have to be extremely gentle while installing the two connectors. I was able to jury rig it back into place by bending the metal around with a pair of pliers.
-Motherboard did not POST with both sticks of the RAM I bought

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued ASRock Customer

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.
Please try below trouble shooting to sheck if its resolved.
Turn the power off, clear the CMOS.
Reseat the CPU and cooler.
Test with single memory module on each slot one by one to verify all slots are working.
Test with another pair of memory if both slots are working.

If you have any technical Support inquiry, please contact us at We will assist you shortly.

5 out of 5 eggs11 months and going strong

Pros: Second review! This will take the newest AMD APU with R7 graphics. Had 1st one almost a year with no problems. Plenty of ports and wifi and Bluetooth moderately decent. Great bios that allow you both legacy and uefi boot at boot time
Recent Purchased a 2nd !
Run most linux distro well! May have to search for wireless drivers

Cons: The only aggravation is the flimsy back plate that is not strong enough to hold wireless connectors. You must use pop rivets and a custom cut aluminum plate to reinforce it . This is also mentioned in other Asrock mini ITX reviews is you read them!!

Other Thoughts: Did not take off an egg since con is part of many builds and motherboard and software is rock solid.
