4 out of 5 eggsWorks - and I found a cooler that works with it...

Pros: It works. I didn't really need mini-itx since it was going in a normal case but it had a rebate and all the features I needed so I went with it. I'm using it for a plex setup, so I may go to a smaller case down the road anyway. One thing I missed in the reviews initially was the concern of compatible coolers. I got the Artic Freezer A11 for an AMD CPU and it works just fine. The plastic "pins" that hold the socket in are removable, and I wonder if that was the concern for some previous reviews. It was a tight fit, but it works. I have two sticks of G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series, and there was enough clearance in the second slot, but it was pretty close.

Cons: I'd never worked with a mini-ITX board - it is definitely small and hard to work around. I had to remove the PSU in my case in order to have enough room to plug it into the motherboard. If I ever need to take out the RAM the fan will have to come out which definitely sucks.

Other Thoughts: It being so small I was having a hard time reading the PIN layout for power, reset etc. I can't tell for sure, but it seems like the labels on the mobo don't match the documentation. I couldn't get it powered on and when I looked at the manual it showed a different layout - but that could just be me getting old ;)

2 out of 5 eggsDisappointed!!

Pros: Features, small and easy set-up.

Superb performance on the first 2 days.

Cons: I was really looking forward to use this itx board, but unfortunately as other reviews has stated "black screen."

Only on my second day of using this motherboard it started acting weird. Things like taking multiple attempts to power on, freezing at bios or after boot-up, powering off by itself, and finally this morning I got a black screen. I tried resetting the RAM, CMOS, checking for loose connections, reconnecting cables, etc. I still have a black screen. What's funny is that all my fans and LED's are still working. I am currently in the process of refunding this mb for a different one.

Other Thoughts: I gave it a 2 because I still remember the excitement I had when it first arrived at my doorstep, as well as the great performance the first 2 days.

Would recommend if it works, but I'm not so sure now.

3 out of 5 eggsHo Hum

Pros: It was the only board that had everything I needed. So I am glad it is here. It has the fast booting, built in WiFi, and holds the chip I wanted. And I wanted a small board.
It has been over a month and the only issue has been interference with the speaker wire messing with the WIFi. That took a while to figure out. It would say it was connected to the router but pages would not load or take forever.

Cons: The so-called built-in WiFi makes you put it together. And the assembly is very fiddly. Not fun for me at all. These connections are microscopic. And you need wrenches that are not provided to attach the connectors to the back plate. Just 2 data cables...but I knew that. Putting on all the front panel stuff was annoying. And the directions were ambiguous...but I got it right the first time because I have built a few computers. Or, maybe I was just lucky. I think it should have a couple more fan plugs but other than that, it is Ok.

Other Thoughts: If you need reading glasses, forget this board. The WIFI is too difficult to assemble. Also, be sure to keep the antenna wires away from other wires or you will start griping to your ISP about internet speed.

It is fairly ergonomic...but not if your case installs the board upside down. I probably just got a weird case, so I can't hold that against the board maker. I used this one: and it was very difficult to put the front panel wires in.

Not really my idea of built-in WiFi. The regular WiFi adapters are far easier. And that pretty much was the reason I bought this board. The fact that you don't just screw in the antenna is a big bummer.

1 out of 5 eggsWorst company I have purchased from.

Pros: None

Cons: UPDATE: After updating to the newest BIOS from Asrock support (this means all the way through the update, including it telling me it was successfully installed and rebooting), it no longer boots, posts or otherwise works. I can't hear any beeping, no post on vga or hdmi, and a couple of weeks after initially emailing asrock support I have not heard anything back...

The IOMMU present in the bios/southbridge is flawed and does not work. This means this entire computer build based around the motherboard is useless... IOMMU support is advertised, but it does not work and is completely useless even with the latest BIOS update. This has wasted hundreds of my dollars, and now I need to return and my processor, motherboard, and new mini-itx case because Asrock is advertising features that don't work at all. Look up IOMMU if you don't know how important it is for efficient, effective, vm's.

Other Thoughts: Update: After trying to contact Asrock customer support for multiple issues, I have found that there is none. Buyer beware, they won't help you when something goes wrong.

I can't find any other decent mini-itx amd fm2+ motherboards with IOMMU for running virtual machines. So even if I return this mobo, I won't be able to use this mini-itx case I got for it seeing as I will have to get a larger mobo (obviously not an Asrock as the advertised features don't work).

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued ASRock Customer,

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.
Please turn the power off, clear the CMOS to check if it address the issue.

1 out of 5 eggsFaulty MB turned paperweight

Pros: it was good.. whenever it booted up
built-in wifi(though trash signal unless you add the antenna)

Cons: Fairly new builder, so I thought it was my fault but oh was I wrong.
first time trying to boot, no post. Breadboard and several trials and errors got it to post, loaded up an OS. Still didn't boot up well even after, figured it need a bios update since I was using a kavari CPU. It booted... after about 15 mins each time from shut down. It lead me to just putting the computer to sleep since it wakes up immediately from that.
Fast forward 4 months later, after another bios update(since it described better compatibility) it completely killed the MB, no post whatsoever, and self shuts down within 5-30 seconds.
Several diagnoses and part swaps later, I replaced the MB with a Gigabyte one, no built-in wifi, but at least it WORKS like MB should.
I would say ASRock customer service it terrible, but I can only say that if it actually existed. Filled out a premade detailed warranty/RMA form on their webside, was only met with a generic, non-respond-able copy and paste email.
No way of actually contacting them directly since there's not even a phone number.

Other Thoughts: Trash MB, trash customer service, horrible first experience with this company.

4 out of 5 eggsGood board, but could be better

Pros: - Build in wifi and blutooth is nice and works fine
- DRAM location is not standard, but actually worked with my build quite nicely. I used an IN WIN BP655 case and ADATA V2 DRAM (8GB X 2 2400mhz). The DRAM coolers I believe would have interfered with the back of my optical drive in that case had the DRAM been in its normal location.
- Great sound
- plenty of video output options
- had no issues with ADATA RAM and A10-7870K

Cons: - Poor overclocking options (it's an AMD board for heaven's sake!)
- BIOS overclocking only allowed in steps for iGPU, steps are awkward and often bigger jumps than you want to make. Also when I overclocked the iGPU in the BIOS it failed everytime. I was able to get stable overclocks using AMD Overdrive, but for some reason the BIOS OC, even just a single step, did not prove to be stable
- DRAM cannot be clocked over 2400 mhz, even if you DRAM can handle a little faster, that option does not seem to be available anywhere
- Far less options that ASUS boards

Other Thoughts: - If you are looking to push the most potential out of an APU, look elsewhere. That does not mean this is not a good budget board for a budget build. I was actually building a PC for my wife. She almost bought a Dell All in One and I told her to let me build something that would be just as cheap, but much more powerful. Her only orders was that she wanted a touch screen and did not want a big hulking computer tower. She's very pleased with the build and it only cost about $100 more than the sale price of the Dell all in one. The AMD onboard graphics chip will be good for some of the things my wife likes to do and for casual gaming. It was a great home PC option where we were not looking for a computer to push to the max, and, excluding the touch screen monitor and Windows software, the total cost of the hardware was less than $470.00

4 out of 5 eggsPreliminary review - see video note

Pros: Seems to work well so far. Lots of features. I might upgrade it to 5 stars after a little more experience with it.

Cons: I had no video as reported by others, but that turned out to be an installation quirk that might apply to the others as well. See other comments.

Other Thoughts: I had no video and contacted the ASRock support web site. They sent me an email with suggestions, but I had returned the board already . The second board had the same problem. I re-read the tech support email and noticed that I had overlooked the statement about only connecting 20 pins instead of all 24 on the power connector. Huh? Yep. I detached the 4 removable pins on the power supply connector and, voila! I had video on the next reboot. Weird.

2 out of 5 eggsGreat feature but....

Pros: I loved all the features the board has. HDMI in is a really neat feature!!

Cons: CPU temps kept rising in the BIOS (could have cooked my APU) and the board died on me....

Other Thoughts: I love ASrock products but this board has more problems than what I would have liked to have dealt with. Maybe I might get another ASrock board for another build but this one kind of sucked....

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Dan,

Thank you for purchase and review.
The BIOS has not build-in power management as Windows, so it would be full usage while in the BIOS and risen the temperature.
However, it wont be caused the issue since users does not stay in the BIOS for hours or day.

We will assist you shortly.
