It shortens the loading time of previously visited websites, making web surfing faster than ever. And it also boosts the speed of Adobe Photoshop five times faster. Another advantage of ASRock XFast RAM is that it reduces the frequency of accessing your SSDs or HDDs in order to extend their lifespan.

ASRock XFast LAN allows you to enjoy more speed, easier multitasking, an enhanced multimedia experience, and more – all without weighing you down.

H81

UEFI Tech Service
Contact ASRock Tech Service by sending a support request from the UEFI setup utility if you are having trouble with your personal computer. Dehumidifier
Dampness kills most electronics, so it's a better idea to keep your personal computer dry. Now users may prevent motherboard damages due to dampness by enabling Dehumidifier. When it is enabled, the computer will power on automatically to dehumidify the system after entering S4/S5 state.

H81

Easy Driver Installer
For users that don't have an optical disk drive to install the drivers from our support CD, Easy Driver Installer is a handy tool in the UEFI that installs the LAN driver to your system via a USB storage device, then downloads and installs the other required drivers automatically through the internet. No CD or optical disk drive required!

H81

Fast Boot
With ASRock's exclusive Fast Boot technology, it takes less than 1.5 seconds* to logon to Windows® 8 from a cold boot. No more waiting! The speedy boot will completely change your user experience and behavior.
*The boot time may vary with a different configuration.

H81

Restart to UEFI
Fast Boot is so fast that it is impossible for users to enter the UEFI setup utility during POST. Therefore, ASRock Restart to UEFI technology allows users to easily enter the UEFI setup utility automatically when turning on the PC next time. It is designed for those who constantly need to enter the UEFI setup utility.

H81

HDMI™ - High-Definition Multimedia Interface

2 out of 5 eggsLook Elsewhere

Pros: -Cheap
-Does what it is supposed to do when its not DOA
-6 PCI slots
-No need for powered risers (with R9 270)
-UEFI bios

Cons: -Quality control issues

Other Thoughts: A friend and I decided to build two mining rigs using this board and (6) R9 270s. My board has been running for 2 months now without issues (fingers crossed it continues to run). However, my friend is on his *fourth* board in 2 months. The first board wouldn't recognize more than one stock of RAM, and wouldn't initialize more than two GPUs. The next board came, it mined for about 3 weeks, then would no longer recognize any GPUs. The third board arrived, again, wouldn't recognize more than one stick of ram or more than one GPU. The fourth board has been mining for 3 days and we're hopeful is continues.

Newegg has been very supportive and had even made mention at one point that they were receiving a higher than usual defective return rate on the board (which honestly would prompt me to put a hold on its sale until the manufacturer looked into the issues).

I've got my hopes up that these boards stay alive for more than a month or two. But we are definitely at the point that if another one dies, we'll be using a different manufacturer altogether. I've not had much experience with ASRock motherboards, but I certainly won't buy another one again.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Brian,

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.
Please check whether two 4 pin Molex power has connect to mainbaord.
Set the UEFI BIOS default.
Check the system is not overheating.

1 out of 5 eggsBuilt Quality is Hit or Miss

Pros: Cheaply priced

Cons: QA needs some work, given the hit or miss reviews.

Other Thoughts: I had this board running for about an hour, installing Arch Linux, and 5 minutes after starting the mining software, spark and smoke from the main-board.

Then nothing.

It's shipped back, of course, for RMA replacement, but it seems that the quality assurance testing for these boards could use improvement, if there is any testing done at all (I didn't see a QA sticker usually put on the bottom of the PCB).

For now I have to give only 1 star due to the apparent lack of QA, even if the replacement works just fine, since these boards are in high demand by power users.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear ASRock Customer

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.
Please check if the 4 pins Molex power has plugged to mainboard if using 2 or more VGA cards to avoid damage the mainboard.
Please update replacement mainboard is working fine. If you have any technical questions or warranty issues in the future please contact us at http://www.ASRock.com/support/tsd.asp. We will assist you shortly

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Value MOBO for Mining

Pros: This is a great no frills, mining mobo. It has just enough features to start mining with 6 PCI-e slots along with two additional molex power ports.

Cons: No power/reset buttons or wifi.

Other Thoughts: I'm running this mobo, with an Intel G3220 CPU, 4GB DDR3 RAM, a 64GB SSD and 6 GTX 750 Ti GPUs, running headless. It works great and priced just right. The next rev should have power/reset buttons, wifi and an mSata port.

5 out of 5 eggsGold is best, Board is Gold, so Board is best

Pros: Highest amount of PCI-E slots available on a motherboard in this price bracket. Additional power available with onboard molex connections.
UEFI Bios - It rocks

Cons: Board seems a little wavy, which from other reviews seems to be a common trait with ASRock, but on the flip side it's been said that their production quality has increased. Despite this one issue I've already purchased a second board, and will purchase a third once they are back in stock.

Other Thoughts: THE best board to use for mining.

1 out of 5 eggsYour video show booting with a Non-290x

Pros: This is a response to a previous review that was answered by Asrock.

Cons: Asrock, your link to my response shows a computer booting up with a non 290/290x. Please try again, but this time with a 290x or 290. It does not boot with 290/290x ONLY. It boots with everything else.

Other Thoughts: Did you even read my review before posting your video? It clearly states it's for 290/290x only.

4 out of 5 eggsRisers

Pros: The question no one has answered: This board works with unpowered risers, so if you're looking to save some money on risers, this will work. Plugged in the auxiliary molex power to the mobo and all 6 cards are working fine.

Ubuntu had no problems with the board. BIOS settings are fine as shipped for using all PCIe slots.

Parallel port included for nostalgia is super nice. I can't get my dot matrix to work in Ubuntu though.

Cons: No on board power/reset

Other Thoughts: Other possible improvements for v2 of this board:

Have 2 atx connectors for multiple PSUs.

Why not include some unpowered ribbon risers? I bet ASRock could get/make them for literally pennies a piece.

Why not put 8-16gb of onboard flash as a HDD? I'm sure they're trying not to make the board too purpose specific, but why not go all the way? Or just put in a SD card slot right on the board.

1 out of 5 eggsDoes not POST without a monitor plugged in

Pros: It works with BAMT without needs for extra network driver and has 6 PCI-E slots

Cons: With R9 290x, it will not POST when it's set to PCI-E as primary video when no monitor is plugged in. (also tested with the bios released on 2/27/2014)

This is supposedly a mining motherboard, why in the world would it need a monitor plugged in to post?? Fatal1ty z87 Killer doesn't even require it....

I have tested this in numerous pro BTC board so this is not isolated to only one.

When you turn on the rig without a monitor plugged in, it will not even go through the POST process. You can tell because the keyboard light does not even light up. It's literally waiting for a monitor to be plugged in. Once you plug it in, you will immediately see the POST screen pop up.

This is a total DEAL BREAKER for people running 290/290x which doesn't have any analog option to make a dummy plug for.

Be warned, if you have 290/290x only in your rig, run away from this board.

Other Thoughts: If you set the primary video to onboard, you can POST and run the rig with 5 GPU without issues in BAMT 1.3+, but once you plug in a 6th GPU, you will get black screen during X start up.

ASROCK, please provide a bios update to fix this for 290/290x owner.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Naeco,

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.
The maibnoard would boot without monitor has plugged.
Please visit the link to check mainboard boot without monitor " https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/31184027/H81%20Pro%20BTC%20Boot%20without%20monitor.mp4 ".

3 out of 5 eggsUnaceptable issues with H81 PRO BTC

Pros: - Fast boot
- Detects cards without issues
- Great Price

Cons: - Motherboard wont turn off or restart (tested with 3 motherboards)
- lack of built-in power/reset button.
- lack of MOBO status code display.

Other Thoughts: I have 2 H81 pro btc mobo's, and none of them would turn off or restart. While shutting down or restarting system (windows 7 x64) the screen becomes black, but the motherboard is still running, the fans are spinning, and one LAN led is blinking.
Bios is up to date and running on default settings.
My friend also have the same issues with this board.
The only way to restart this board is to force restart, or force turn off and on. This major issue is unacceptable for me and my friend.
There are also lack of built-in power/reset buttons, and motherboard code diplay (cannot resolve issues without knowing the motherboard state)

Manufacturer Response:

Dear ASRock Customer

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.
For the issue, Please unplug the ATX 24 + 6 pins power.
Remove the battery.
Clear the CMOS.
Reverse all steps above to test if the symptom still occurs.

Unfortunately, this model does not provided power on/off button, Dr.Debug LED light, please visit mainboard's specification link at " http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/H81%20Pro%20BTC/?cat=Specifications ".
