AM1H-ITX What you've never understood about your computer is that it is scared to death of water, H2O, humidity or whatever you'd like to call it. And even though you do not see the water, actually there may be lots of excessive moist in the air killing your motherboard silently and slowly. No, your motherboard doesn't melt when in contact with water like the wicked witch of the west, but it dies of short circuit. Luckily, ASRock has a new High Density Glass Fabric PCB design that reduces the gaps between the PCB layers to protect the motherboard against electrical shorts caused by humidity.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat little motherboard!

Pros: Low power consumption and small form factor. Paired it with the Kabini 8350 Sempron 1.3Ghz, 4 gigs ram and 1 2.5" HD. Also picked up a fanless Artic Cooler heat sink for the CPU. Built it to replace my home Router. Installed Untangle with OpenVPN, IDS, antivirus, etc. All free no less... Works great, low heat and is quiet. Great little board!

Cons: Only drawback is no USB 3.0 header on motherboard. But I knew that going in.

Other Thoughts: Worried a the Kabini 3850 would not be up to snuff on performance, but had the Kabini 5350 2.05Ghz on hand in case. No need as this little rig handled all perfectly. I wanted to buy another one but it was out of stock at the time.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat for its price

Pros: Price
Small, simple layout

Cons: Price
Durability

Other Thoughts: Good cheap motherboard, died after just under a year of use due to sudden blackout at the house. Primary use was web browsing and really old games.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks and Cheap

Pros: Works very well for how cheap it is. Gotta Athlon 5150 w/ 2GB of RAM and a Radeon 5450 for HDMI. If the board came with an HDMI Female connection, that would of been the best. Works well overall with my HTPC setup.

Cons: No HDMI but got what I paid for.

5 out of 5 eggsGood basic motherboard

Pros: The motherboard is a good basic board for a web browsing/extremely light gaming. I am using this motherboard currently with a Sempron 3850, but I intend to upgrade to an Athlon in the future. I have so far not had any issues with it.

Cons: what I wish this motherboard had was 4 SATA ports, I know Asrock has a Matx am1 board with 4 SATA ports because in the installation they list the AM1H-M that has 4 SATA ports. I also wished it had another USB2 header, but that is probably a chipset limitation.

Other Thoughts: If you are considering building a budget gaming computer DO NOT choose any AM1 motherboards. The reason why is PCIe x16 slot is only a 4x slot, meaning your video card gets less then half of the bandwidth it would get in a higher end PC. This is not a problem with Asrock, this is a chipset limitation beyond their control.

5 out of 5 eggshttp://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=13-157-489&_ga=1.118505865.1229596429.1443719679

Pros: Excellent Mobo for those running a simple HTPC setup, runs cool and quiet, never getting above 25 degrees Celsius at any point during a 24 hour Stress test. bought in a combo with the Kabini 2.05GHz Quad Core APU, and it is an excellent combination. silent operations, at all periods of time.

Cons: needs at least one more SATA Connector for Seperate HDD so you can have an HDD For Storage and for the OS as well as the DVD-RW Drive.

1 out of 5 eggsAsrock am1b-m

Pros: Inexpensive little motherboard part of a bundle with Athlon 5350 and 4 gigs of ram

Cons: Does not work in Windows 10, computer constanty freezes. Re-installed Windows 7 and everything ran well. Wasted 3 hours with Windows 10 and another 4 hours getting in Windows 7 with updates. Defeats purpose of a cheap motherboard considering wasted time.

1 out of 5 eggs1st and last ASRock

Pros: Cheap.
Specs look good.

Cons: Glitchy from the start, but got it working reasonably well for 3 months. Now I'm getting random BSOD's and my USB (both 2.0 and 3.0) ports work only randomly...not worth the money to return for another.

Other Thoughts: I don't profess to be an expert, but I've been doing builds since the late 90's and have never had the unreliability and randomness of the problems that this board presents. In over 20 builds, I've managed to troubleshoot issues and have actually enjoyed the challenges that building from scratch sometimes presents...but this thing is SO unpredictable that I'm throwing in the towel and replacing the board with an MSI or Biostar (boards that have served me well over the years). DOA would have been so much better than wasting my time on this tease!

Manufacturer Response:

5 out of 5 eggsI messed up

Pros: what isn't to love gigabit lan, lots of usb, 2 pcie lanes, that great amd apu, I mean I love it for how cheap it was

Cons: why only have vga out? I know this is the cheap version here but come on who uses vga for a cheap htpc motherboard.
its also a kind of ugly color but it sits on a shelf who cares

Other Thoughts: so I was building a server and recording computer with this kabini apu and just thought throw the cheapest motherboard you can find in that thing and then plug all the components into it. that's when I realized that it didn't have hdmi. or 3 sata ports I needed. but raid cards are cheap and so are converters.

5 out of 5 eggsFix

Pros: Cheap
Good Specs

I fixed it, the boards do work, it was just a simple screw shorting everything out.

Cons: Now that they are working, none actually.

1 out of 5 eggsA few DOA

Pros: Cheap

Cons: Did not work out of the box

Other Thoughts: First two I received did not work. As the rest of my build was based around this motherboard I am determined to keep trying until I get one that works. Will update the review if I get one that is good, although I'll take away an egg for each time I have to try again. Waiting for #3 now!
