1 out of 5 eggsDies - Customer Service FAILS

Pros: Looks nice. Looks solid.

Cons: DIED. As other reviewers have noted, this motherboard can fry whenever the computer is unplugged. I'm talking, power down, unplug, and never turn on again. USBs still operate fine.

But that isn't the main issue. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES SHOULD YOU FILE AN RMA WITH ASROCK. Do not. ASRock has terrible cutsomer service. I did an RMA after then first month. *I* paid the $15 shipping to CA. Upon return, the item I received was not working either. Upon confrontation, they said that since the item was damaged, they would be charging me a service fee of $50, on top of the $15 I would have to pay just to ship it there again. Like... what?

ALSO, Newegg can claim that the product you have is different than the one sold if you do process an RMA, since the serial number is different; and you can not get your money back through Newegg. They offered me a $50 gift card for a $130 item.

After spending thousands of dollars on this site, this is the most disappointed purchase I have made to date.

Other Thoughts: I will never buy from this manufacturer again. However, this also really lessens my view of Newegg, because they should have the respect to fix what their vendors do wrong, whether or not it was their fault.

1 out of 5 eggsSave time and look elsewhere

Pros: Lots of nice features if the boards would work.

Cons: Only 2 of the memory slots are functional. Sadly this sat in the box longer than a month so, I have no choice but to RMA with ASRock and pay shipping to boot. I wish I had paid closer attention to the reviews before I purchased. ASRocks normal response is "electronics fail" Yes, they do but this should have been tested before you shipped it.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued ASRock Customer

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.
Please trouble shoot the mainboard whether the issue is resolved.

Clear the CMOS.
Check the mainboard’s CPU socket contact pins are normal (should be pointing same way and pattern).
Reinstall CPU and heatsink fan if socket pins are normal.
Test with single memory module on each slot one by one.

If you have any technical support inquiry, please contact us at http://www.ASRock.com/support/tsd.asp. We will assist you shortly.

Thank you

5 out of 5 eggsI have 2 very nice MB's

Pros: Very nice MB I moved up from Z77-Extreme4 and liked the Z97-Extreme4 MB so much I bought another.

So that's 2 builds 2 different purchase locations and no problems. Well only one self induced error when I couldn't get case power and HD LED to work. See below.

Cons: None for me

Other Thoughts: The self induced error was not checking the goodnight feature was on - apparently the default on with this MB. Turn it off and everything is fine.

4 out of 5 eggsSeems solid

Pros: -Great list of features
-Well organized BIOS setup
-Plenty of documentation provided
-Huge amount of space to work with
-Sli

This is my first ASRock board, but its also my first Intel build in over a decade, having gone from a Phenom II x6 1050t to an i5 4690k- their was a world of difference in just setting everything up. Luckily the motherboard layout itself was quite good, however I'm a little alarmed by the reviews about this motherboard and keep crossing my fingers that I don't run into any issues.

I also am basically working with 4-5 year old components i.e. RAM is DDR3, but quite old now, also my current videocard is a 560ti, but these components I'm happy to report, are working just fine after placing them into the new motherboard.

I'm fairly happy with everything except the price, and admittedly I wasn't really sure about the SLi feature, but once again- it seems like a solid board.

Cons: None so far.

1 out of 5 eggsnever unplug

Pros: is a great board for the price and worked great until it died.

Cons: Lost power over the weekend and the board wont boot up. The USB devices receive power, but the board will not boot up.

The danger is real. I thought i would not be the one with the same problem people wrote in the reviews. i also looked this up on the internet and found multiple pages and forums stating the same exact problem. Im going to call ASRock today to get the board RMAed, but i really dont want another one that will do the same thing. i should have stuck with Gigabyte and MSI i never had a problem with those boards.

my advice would to buy another mobo as this one should definitely has to be recalled..

5 out of 5 eggsGreat board, working for 8 months now!

Pros: I originally gave this board 1 star when I first got in back in July because I thought it was DOA but turned out to be my PSU. Just wanted to say I think this is one of the best quality motherboards out there. Has any features an asus msi or gigabyte board would have and just because its an ASRock doesnt mean they dont make great quality boards.

Cons: Top heat spreader can get in the way of fans in some cases..

1 out of 5 eggsBe Careful

Pros: N/A

Cons: I purchased this motherboard having used Asus in the past. I had no problem with my first install. After a month of use, I unplugged my PC to install a new SATA HD. After the installation, the motherboard would not boot. After some research, I see there are several people having the same issue. Some people are able to fix the problem by buying a new CMOS battery. Others are dead in the water. I am one of them. My biggest issue is with the technical support. I was unable to get to live chat and the number given to me kept having a busy signal. After several phone calls to their desktop service number, they gave me a link to an escalation mailbox. Pitiful.

1 out of 5 eggsdead

Pros: great when it worked

Cons: dead in 2 months

Other Thoughts: building computers since 1994 and never had a MB just flip out and fry itself like this one. Junk

5 out of 5 eggsExcellence and Value

Pros: Windows 8.1 Pro loaded without hesitation and has a very quick start up and shutdown. All video/photo editing programs are executed quickly and without lag like many other counterparts. I did a 48-hour burn in without restarting it. This board supported this stress test flawlessly and showed no signs of failure. Knowing that there is a M.2 slot available, I will for sure toy with the idea of throwing in a 256GB M.2 card later on to make it on fire. Before I decided to write some review, I noticed there are actually few other users experienced a problem with the board not able to power up. Being a decade old technician, I can assure the fact that it's often time very easy to put the motherboard on the first blame. You don't hear much about anyone complains Intel CPU, right? Granted, when a TV not working, people just tend to blame nothing more than a TV! So out of my curiosity I have tried to duplicate these guys' scenarios. But no, my board behaved as what a motherboard should do. It powered up every single time without a hassle.

With these performance in mind, I know this board should suit very well with Windows 10. I can't wait.

Cons: None
