5 out of 5 eggsGreat Motherboard, except go with better for CFX.

Pros: This motherboard is exceptional for the price. I COULD NOT find a better one at this price with these features! I love this motherboard a lot, considering it does what it's supposed to do most of the time.

Cons: Ok, now I said most of the time because done the line, I wanted to upgrade to get crossfire, but it is so limited that I cannot even have a PCIe or PCI slot in use with it on. I wish I new this before, but hey the motherboard was $115 after shipping and I do like it a lot.

Other Thoughts: I really wish the CFX could do more. Now, I have to buy a new motherboard to get CFX working right.

5 out of 5 eggsASRock Z97

Pros: The board exceeds my needs. I don't play games but use a lot of graphics. Speed is great especially with a SSD. Price was within an acceptable range.

Had to return my first board but the replacement arrived within a few days. Didn't have to pay return shipping because of Premier membership.

The ASRock support was great. Timely response and they had a structured method for me to diagnose, making the return faster. Newegg's support blended in well with ASRock's efforts.

Cons: None. Great coordination. Can't get anything better than this.

Other Thoughts: I added 2 Nvidia full length video cards for my 4 monitors. No trapped heat from the motherboard. I have 4 case fans to get rid of the heat. Fan noise is acceptable, like a white noise.

I think I got more than what I paid for performance and support from ASRock and Newegg. Everyone bent over backwards to get me up and running.

I have been using and building computers since the Commodore 64. I didn't mind using the structured diagnosis method and I learned something from it.

5 out of 5 eggsLike The Mighty RedWood

Pros: Rock Solid , Stable as a Happily Married Man, "gettin some everyday" . This Board booted up first time every time, no hiccups. I accidentally ordered mismatch memory , 1.5 volt G-Skill and 1.35 low voltage G-Skill. Thought i was going to have to return for swap,, NO Such Animal, Installed the 1.5 first booted and installed the operating System , installed Drivers , after running and restarting a few times, lowered the voltage on the 1.5 memory to 1.35 , installed the additional 1.35 memory and "WHAMMO" Booted like Big Dogs Do. Good Board I am Impressed

Cons: nada, none . nothing, cant find anything. cant make up anything. Sorry !!!

Other Thoughts: Asrock boards impressed me a long time back, had a refurbished one and it was a beast also, couldn't seem to hurt it. The stability in this product is something seariously sought after . performance is excellent, bell and whistle are there, stability is excellent.

The Client is still SMILING "Ear to Ear" 48 hours and beyond !!

2 out of 5 eggsProblems within 60 days

Pros: Worked great for a little over a month. Ran at cool temperature even in a non air conditioned apt.

Cons: Parts of it stopped working after I had it for little over a month. The PCI and PCI-E slots don't work. The sound card and audio port plug-in slot has stopped working. If not for the fact that it worked perfectly for month I would've given it 1 egg.

Other Thoughts: If it had continued to work I probably would've given it 5 eggs, but alas there were problems.

1 out of 5 eggsReceived DOA

Pros: Price/Features

Cons: Received the motherboard DOA, would not boot at all. All brand new components, so I had to change out components piece by piece to isolate the problem. Its a good thing I have extra stuff or I wouldn't have even known what wasn't working.

Other Thoughts: As with all tech stuff, there is the occasional bad product, but I think I will switch to another manufacture for this build regardless.

Manufacturer Response:

5 out of 5 eggsVery Stable Board

Pros: The board maintains a low, and stable temperature. I haven't had any issues with any of the slots or ports.

Overall, it just works!

Cons: Thus far, I haven't come across anything negative directly related to the motherboard.

Other Thoughts: This was my motherboard of choice for my first PC build.

It can't be considered a con, more my own neurotic fears, but if you're like me, you might be afraid you'll do something like bend some pins by accident. If you're a noob like me and don't have anyone to help you, you might prefer spending the extra money for an Asus Sabertooth board, which has some nice armor over it that helps in handling the board.

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Everything about this board is awesome. Looks amazing, works great, BIOS has really nice easy to use functions.

Cons: Updated from 1.0 to 1.30 BIOS using the windows installer and prompty BSOD'd my SSD. Still working on fixing it but so far a FixMBR, FixBoot, Offline file integrity, SFC and ChkDsk haven't corrected the issue. When a repair my PC option is selected, Startup repair errors out stating "Baddriver" yet if i walk through trying to install windows it sees my SSD just fine. the SSD seems to work just fine when plugged into another PC. I cannot determine if i have a bad SSD or if the BIOS update has boogered the SATA controller or SSD driver.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear ASRock Customer

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.
BIOS update usually would not affect the drives. It might be BSOD causing corrupted the files on SSD drive.
Please set the UEFI BIOS default.
Install the Windows to check if its resolved.
However, we do not recommend updating the BIOS if the system is working normal.

4 out of 5 eggsFeature-packed, great value

Pros: I'm not a gamer, but was looking for a board that would be fast for video editing/coding/databases, as well has have the potential for overclocking should I need it in the future. This board has Intel RAID, optical out, and works with the latest generation processors. The BIOS looks like an OS, uses the mouse and is easy to navigate. Setup with Windows 8.1 64-bit was very, very easy.

Cons: Forward-facing SATA ports... WHY?!? Every other connector on this board faces up... Had to borrow someone with little hands to hook up the drives. Would give this a 5 star rating if not for this.

I had to install the NIC driver from the CD, everything else was downloadable. It would have been nice if the NIC would work with the Windows 8.1 install, but this is being nitpicky. Also, Intel needs to make things clearer on their chipset package. I installed the chipset INF drivers and everything appears OK in device manager, but Windows still a message to install "Intel Smart Connect" - not sure if I need that or not.

Other Thoughts: Been stuck on Gigabyte for my past few builds, but this time I decided to try an AsRock. So far I am impressed. Would definitely buy this again and assuming this is stable will definitely consider AsRock again.

GSkill Ripjaws DDR3 2133
Intel i74790K
Rosewill QN100
Windows 8.1
LG Blu Ray
Bunch of SSD and SATA drives in RAID arrays...

5 out of 5 eggs2nd Board for my own build

Pros: Stable fast easy to set up. Plenty of expansion slots for PCIE and PCI cards so nothing gets left out of your old build for the new build. Bios are great. Easy to work with. Going to be able to upgrade for a long while without buying a new board.

Cons: You'd think Asrock with all that they put into this board with the stability speed and user friendly Bios would have spent another buck or two and put in a better sound chip. It does not take much to beat the sound chip that is in there. I have my own nice sound card but if not I'd have been a bit disappointed with the sound.

Other Thoughts: The sound chip isn't a deal killer. This is my second build with this board. I built a computer for a relative and liked the board so much I got one for myself. So I really love it. Runs so well it was actually boring when everything fired up without a bit of trouble. Very little tinkering around.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat motherboard for the price

Pros: This motherboard has everything you need for a system with few bells and whistles. We stressed out the board quite a bit installing the CPU fan. and other components. it is built rock solid and with high quality parts. Very good deal for the price. Plenty of USB and SATA ports.

Cons: None yet.

Other Thoughts: We wanted to build a fast computer without too many peripherals. We chose to spend the money on the GPU and CPU. This 1000 dollar build screams, is solid, and silent.
