5 out of 5 eggsMoBo

Pros: Received first MB. RAM slot A-1&A-2 were dead. RMA'd. Felt like forever to get another. 2nd works great. All is working great.

Cons: None other than defect. Couldn't be forseen, so no worries.

Other Thoughts: Would definately recommend for budget build.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Motherboard at a Great Deal

Pros: I bought this item when it was on the Newegg Spotlight deal. I really wanted to build a nice gaming rig, but didn't want to break the bank, so this deal fell out of the sky for me.

Very sturdy build, and easy to setup/use. I haven't played around with all the settings, but I've been using it for about a month now and I'm loving it.

Cons: 0

4 out of 5 eggsASRock Z97 1150 MOBO

Pros: Very easy simple mobo to use. Things are labeled well and readable. Has all the thigns for OCing your cpu and it even has some for doing RAIDS and all that happy stuff.

Some people said the MOBO was DOA or they had to RMA but mine worked right off the box.

Cons: None that I have had

Other Thoughts: The mobo has a option to increase the usb power to make your Iphones actually charge quick from a computer.

3 out of 5 eggsso-so

Pros: It's pretty with the anodized blue heat sinks, the layout of the board components is clean, the 6 sata connectors are oriented so 90 degree cables are not required. Easy BIOS update, and boot disk priority setup is a breeze with the simply layed out interface. The system is running air cooled at 91 degrees F using the 4 case fan plugs provided.

Cons: Assembled a new system to replace to 8 year old one (XP/WIN 7 32 bit dual boot) and looked forward to be WOWED. I wasn't. Assembled the mobo into a Rosewell Blackhawk ATX case, installed the new Cool Master 650W PSU, added my new I5-4690K CPU, added 16 gig of G Skill Ripjaws, Added a new Sapphire R9 280 video card, threw in my Lite-On DVD from the old case, added a new 120 gig SSD with Win 7 64 bit OS, 3 Terrabytes of addition HDD's and fired it up. One PCIE X1 slot is DOA. Fine I can live with that. I have 2 more PCIE x 1 slots. Moved the sound card down to one of them and everything works fine. Go through the easy internet BIOS update to install v1.50 (requires cable to wireless router for some reason) and viola: no sound from the sound card (slot doesn't recognize my card) and now there is no case front panel headphone jack operation. No sound output at back of motherboard either. I roll back the BIOS to previous version V 1.40 and recover sound from my sound card (Sound Blaster w/latest drivers). The slot originally mentioned is still DOA.and now so is the headphone plugs at the front of the computer case. Checked all the plug connections to the motherboard from the case, PSU and reseated all the cards and RAM. Issue persists. The 4 x 2.0 and 2 x 3.0 USB ports are working at the front of the case. Wish they would verify the latest BIOS updates actually help rather than hinder operations.

Other Thoughts: Wish there had been 2 more fan plugs provided. Had to remove the side case fan as there wasn't a plug left over for it to connect to.

3 out of 5 eggsAverage

Pros: Good amount of cpu fan slots.
Nice to have VGA/HDMI for testing without graphics card.
Really like the lock in mechanism for the PCI slot

Cons: HD audio is poorly placed, only way to plug it in is to go directly across board. Makes it cluttered.
Ram slots are so close to the CPU that my heat sink covers 2 of the RAM slots.

Other Thoughts: Very small board, almost like a micro ATX board.
Took some tweaking to get Instant Flash via internet to work, but ended up working.

1 out of 5 eggsDo NOT Purchase

Pros: The only pro of this motherboard was it was packaged nicely.

Cons: This motherboard was dead on arrival. When you pay over $100 dollars you should not have to worry about a DOA motherboard. I did not purchase a warranty and do not plan on trying to get a replacement from AS Rock. I will not plan on buying from AS Rock product any time in the future and you shouldn't either. Go with a more well known reliable company, like Asus, Gigabyte or MSI. Very disappointed.

1 out of 5 eggsTurns on once....

Pros: Seems like it would be a good motherboard if it worked.

Cons: So, I've never seen issues like this as long as I've been building computers, I've wracked my mind trying to figure out what it could be but I'm at a loss. I RMA'd the first board because the issues were so strange I assumed it was defective. Firstly, the PCI Express slot doesn't appear to work with my R9 280 on either board, I don't know what is up with that, but I figured I'd move past that with the onboard graphics and come back to it when I got the rest of the computer working. Here's where it gets weird. The computer will boot once, all the way to the desktop, then when I shut it off and turn it on again it wont post. If I change the amount of ram or clear the bios, it works again for one boot. This leads me to assume its a bios issue, but there doesn't appear to be anything wrong with my settings or ram configuration (I've tried multiple). I've never had so much trouble getting a board to work, but I really don't want to have to return it for a different board.

Manufacturer Response:

5 out of 5 eggsGood for a first-time build

Pros: I was looking for a lower-end Z97 motherboard for my first PC build with an i5-4690K. This motherboard has pleased me and met all of my needs for a stable system. Also, don't fear overclocking on this board - although I wouldn't leave it overclocked 24/7, my i5-4690K is stable at 4.4 GHz (max).

Cons: BIOS GUI feels cheap and outdated, and the menu is poorly organized. Other than that, none.

Other Thoughts: No second PCIE slot for SLI or crossfire - but I already knew that when I bought it. Bright blue heat sinks look great!

5 out of 5 eggsVery nice motherboard

Pros: Nice Quality
Good Price
Good board Layout

Cons: Seems a bit smallish, but that might just be because I went with a fairly large case because my wife would like the looks of it better.

I really don't see a need for PCI slots in 2014, but it's something I'm willing to overlook on a sub $100 board.

Other Thoughts: I've been building my own PC for over 20 years now so I've seen a whole lot of motherboards. I bought this one to build a fairly basic (but good quality) PC for my wife.

She doesn't need a whole lot of fancy features, just a good standard motherboard. Which is exactly what I would say this is. It's not fancy, but the build quality was very good. Nice looking board, but again it is plain.

I've never used an ASRock motherboard before, though I've seen them getting good reviews on various websites for years. I thought I'd give them a try because the board had everything I needed, and nothing I didn't at an attractive price.

Having an Intel LAN was a big bonus for me as well since the PC was going to be running Linux. Everything onboard worked well in openSUSE 13.2. Including the onboard sensors, I think I read another reviewer had issues with that but it worked fine out of the box for me.
