5 out of 5 eggsGood motherboard for my needs

Pros: Looks durable.
Good price.
Recognized ssd, processor frequency and memory frequency automatically.
Boots fast.
That was the fist PC assembled by me for the last 5 years and I was impressed by HI-Res graphics in BIOS)

Cons: This motherboard has 2 video cards support but the second slot is placed too close to PSU unit in my mini-tower case so its impossible to install 2 "fat" 2 slot video cards in small case. Probably I paid for the feature that I will not use.

5 out of 5 eggsH97M PRO4

Pros: Asrock is In My Experience (since 1985) is one of the BEST Motherboard Manufacturers available to end users. I have been using them since Shortly after them entering the market in the Early 2000's...Aside from them basically relying on Google Translate in the early days for Support, they were un-surpassed. Both theyre quality, functionality, and Support of the motherboards they sell is unparalelled. Since I have only ever purchases motherboards from them I cannot speak on other products.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: buy this board.

5 out of 5 eggsPerfection

Pros: This is my 5th or 6th ASRock mobo, and I've loved every one of 'em. They've all worked perfectly for me and have been super reliable. I gave this one a G3258 3.2GHz CPU and didn't even bother trying to overclock, since it's more than fast enough for my wife's light-duty PC.

Cons: Whenever I see disparaging comments about mobos in these reviews, I ask myself how much the reviewers really know about proper installation and setup. There are lots of ways to foul up a fresh motherboard - jamming the 24-pin power connector into place without holding the board underneath, where there's no support, is just one tiny example out of many. Based on my experience, if you show proper respect for their delicate circuitry, ASRock motherboards will serve you very well.

5 out of 5 eggsDecent choice

Pros: Needed a MB for new system build and found this one on NewEgg for a decent price. Seems very well made. Made for an easy build (see system specs below) - I had Windows 10 (insider preview) up and running in very short order. MB has many features I'll probably never use (hi def audio, overclocking options, etc.) but they are there if needed.

Don't think I even put the included driver DVD into the computer, (no need for me) so I can't comment on the quality of that content.

Overall this seems to be a very stable and reliable base to my system. Only bug I've seem to have found (BIOS 1.90) is that if I set the keyboard to boot with the NumLock on, it will only do so on a restart, not a cold boot. Not the worst problem in the world.

Cons: Had to enable the XMP RAM profile to get my RAM to function at it's maximum rated speed. I believe that this is true of most (all?) RAM, but it seems like in this should happen automatically, not default to something slower.

As with all motherboards, you'll likely need to update to the latest BIOS for the most recent processor support, etc.

Other Thoughts: System build:

Intel i5-4590 4 core @ 3.3 GHz
ASRock H97M Pro4 motherboard (1150)
16G (2x8) Kingston HyperX Savage DDR3-1600 (CAS 9-9-9)
SanDisk 240G SSD
Corsair CX430 80+ Bronze active PFC PSU
CoolMaster N200 case

4 out of 5 eggsHDMI Audio Fix

Pros: Well built board
4x ram slots
Upgradable with better CPU in a few years still possible

Cons: HDMI audio out of the box doesn't work nor is there any real support for it. Loss of an egg for this headache.

Other Thoughts: The fix -
1) Update your bios so that you are current - http://66.226.78.22/downloadsite/BIOS/1150/H97M%20Pro4(1.90)WIN.zip (***Note - the bios update wiped out my settings. I had to re-enable everything, raid, hot swap, lan & keyboard wake etc. Make sure you know your settings before you flash.)
2 - Download the newest Intel and Iris drivers as a .zip not .exe - In my case, 4600 - https://downloadcenter.intel.com/search?keyword=4th+Generation+Intel%C2%AE+Core%E2%84%A2+Processors+with+Intel%C2%AE+HD+Graphics+4600
3 - Run the setup within the zip, this will update your graphics driver
4 - After reboot, open device manger, right click on one of the "high definition audio device" entries under "Sound, video and game ...."
Update driver software > Browse my computer for software > Let me pick > Have disk > browse to the extracted Intel driver zip folder \ DisplayAudio
Install that and you should be working.

2 out of 5 eggsGreat, when it's not rebooting

Pros: This motherboard has a good feature set at a great price. It looks good, has a good layout and has 2 pcie slots. I have been very pleased with all my past ASRock motherbaords.

Cons: This model seems to have an issue. I'm just not sure the QC is there for it.

My specific problem took a while to develop: over 2 months. Under any and all circumstances it will randomly shut off and reboot. Not a BSOD, not a freeze- it instantly reboots. This is only repeatable if you plug in or unplug something from the io port like usb and audio.

2 out of 5 eggsPoor quality, Decent Performance

Pros: Cheap - affordable option

BIOS has enough options to keep me happy

Cons: 2 RAM slots were DOA - I'm not bothering to RMA at this time because I had to RMA 2 sets of RAM as well, and frankly I'm tired of driving to the UPS location.

Other Thoughts: Would not purchase from ASRock again.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued ASRock Customer

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.
For the memory slots issue, please trouble shoot the mainboard whether the issue is resolved.

• Clear the CMOS.
• Check the mainboard’s CPU contact pins are normal (should be pointing same way and pattern).
• Reseat the CPU and heatsink fan if socket pins are normal.
• Test with single memory module on each memory slot one by one.
• Populate the memory if its all slots are working.

If you have any technical support inquiry, please contact us at http://www.ASRock.com/Support/tsd.asp
We will assist you shortly.

5 out of 5 eggsCan Overclock!

Pros: Tons of features for the money. Seems to be of good quality. Just overall great value

Cons: Non

Other Thoughts: I've read lots of reviews stating that this motherboard is poor for overclocking and though I'm sure it lacks some features a serious overclocker would want I was able to easily overclock my I5-4690K to 4.4ghz in a matter of seconds using the included software. So for you casual overclockers like me this motherboard is perfect.

3 out of 5 eggsOk but can have networking issues

Pros: Relatively inexpensive and easy to install. Seems like the included software to install updates is actually ok. Easy to update bios and firmware.

Cons: Had networking issues out-of-the-box. Tried everything (firmware & bios updates, driver updates) but the onboard networking adapter is not recognized. I have to disable and enable every time I power up the system. I probably just got a bum board since I don't see others with this issue, but an RMA and reinstall is not worth the time when I can solve with a $13 NIC card.

Bios doesn't appear to have options to choose if USB power is on/off when computer is turned off.

1 out of 5 eggsNOT WORTH IT

Pros: Looks great, mini, has many ports.

Cons: Can not handle games well. Every time I try and play a game on high settings, the game crashes. I know it's not my Video card because it's a 970, and my CPU is an i5. If you want a good quality gaming computer, look for a different motherboard.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued ASRock Customer

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.
Please try below.
Update the latest BIOS at UEFI/BIOS, Tools, Internet Flash (required internet connection).
Load the BIOS default.
Test with single memory module, switching another memory if problem still persist.
Test with other games to check if the symptom still occurs.
Check the CPU and system are not overheating.
