A great foundation for you to build a FM2+/FM2 APU-based system, the ASRock FM2A78M PRO3+ motherboard delivers performance, features, and quality at a great price. It's based on an AMD A78 (Bolton D3) chipset and supports an FM2+ 95W/FM2 100W processor. This motherboard is built to be stable and durable with an all solid capacitor design. Compute with confidence with Full Spike Protection that safeguards sensitive components against voltage abnormalities. Turbocharge the performance with one key with X-Boost technology. Experience blistering data transfer with the native SATA III and USB 3.0 technology. And enjoy clean, noise-minimized sound thanks to the ELNA audio caps. The acclaimed ASRock XFast RAM and XFast LAN are also incorporated, for a fast, smooth experience in both local operation and on the Internet.

  • newegg Full Spike Protection Some sensitive digital components on the motherboard are vulnerable to power surges; the excessive current may cause your system to malfunction immediately. ASRock Full Spike Protection includes Surge Protection, Lightning Protection, and ESD Protection to prevent your motherboard’s components from being damaged by these unexpected voltage spikes.
  • newegg ELNA Audio Caps Who says high-quality audio is only available on high-end motherboards? ASRock has applied ELNA audio capacitors on mainstream and entry-level motherboards! Compared with traditional solid caps, the leakage current of ELNA audio caps is merely 3uA. This is the key to significantly reducing noise levels, and satisfying even the pickiest audiophile.
  • newegg All Solid Capacitor Design ASRock is determined to use high-quality materials to build the best motherboards, that's why all the capacitors on this motherboard are built with 100% solid capacitors. These solid capacitors bring long-lasting durability and ultra-stable performance.
  • newegg X-Boost Brilliantly designed for smart overclocking, ASRock X-Boost Technology is able to unleash the hidden power of your CPUs. Simply press “X” when turning on the PC, X-Boost will automatically overclock the relative components to get a performance boost of up to 15.77%! With the smart X-Boost, overclocking the CPU can become a nearly one-button process.
  • newegg Easy Driver Installer For users who don’t have an optical disk drive to install the drivers from our support CD, Easy Driver Installer is a handy tool in the UEFI. It installs the LAN driver to your system via a USB storage device, then downloads and installs the other required drivers automatically through the Internet – absolutely no CD or optical disk drive required!

1 out of 5 eggsDon't Even Know Why Newegg Sales Them

Pros: Who knows had two and neither got to Post

Cons: DOA, Replacement DOA

Other Thoughts: Bought this motherboard the first time on June 12. Excited because I got a new processor, ram, ssd, and an HD. Tried with minimal parts, then with combinations of parts, no ram, one stick, no drives, video card that works, out of case to make sure it wasn't shorting. No post at all. No error codes. Fans come on and that's it. Got my RMA, it took forever to return, finally got my replacement July 8. Same exact problem. I have tried everything, every tutorial. Replaced with old board, drives and PSU are fine. Gonna try to return for a totally different company. But by the time it gets there the replacement warranty on my CPU will be up. What a load of garbage. Don't buy Asrock. Period. Or at least this model. I should have attempted it after the reviews I read.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued ASRock Customer

Sorry to hear that the second mainboard having same issue (no post).
Please trouble shoot the mainboard whether the issue is resolved.

• Unplug the ATX power, remove all components from mainboard.
• Remove the mainboard from chassis, place it on mainboard’s box.
• Clear the CMOS.
• Reseat the CPU and heatsink fan.
• Test with single memory module (non-ECC, un-buffered).
• Test with onboard video (CPU with APU or test with VGA card).
• Connect the monitor.
• Plug the 24 + 4 pins ATX power.
• Connect the chassis power switch to mainboard, and try again.

4 out of 5 eggsGood board for basic gaming builds

Pros: Worked just fine right out of the box. Came with two black Sata 3 cables, and mounting hardware.
Decent Bios interface, mouse works in Bios.
Overclocking in the Bios is pretty simple.

Cons: The Easy Driver Installer did nothing for any version of Linux, while running Unbuntu and PlayLinux OS it was using just the inboard graphics, ignoring the graphics card. Windows worked right off the bat.
Also doesn't have built in Wifi. USB ports get pretty hot when using a small USB Wifi unit and thumb drive, almost burning hot after a few hours of gaming, might not be the board's fault.

Other Thoughts: The Cons I listed are minor things, it's a nice board for a sweet spot gaming build, not too many bells and whistles, just has it where it counts.

1 out of 5 eggsDOA?

Pros: None

Cons: Powers no post, considered DOA, exchange RMA requested.

Other Thoughts: Installed MB, CPU, Memory, PCI-Ex video card - power but will not post. I work in IT and have done so for 12 years. I troubleshooted by changing memory (8 times), PSU (3 times), PCI-Ex video card (4 time), Reseated CPU (3 times), cleared CMOS (4 times). Removed all connections and drives to eliminate potential compatibility issues. Made sure bios speaker was connected. Received bios post a total of 2 times in 20+ power on cycles.

Absolutely ridiculous. If the issue is the board not defaulting to PCI-Ex when no onboard video cables are detected, THEN FIX the problem. Solution is simple - configure the bios to check for PCI-Ex card FIRST!

If replacement board is is DOA too, I will never buy another Asrock board, period.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued ASRock Customer

We sincerely apologize that you having difficulty with mainboard. ASRock mainboards are fully tested to assure the quality. Unfortunately, due to nature of electronic product, it can happen.
Please update replacement mainboard is working fine.

For the onboard VGA, the out put will be off once installed the discrete VGA card by default. So monitor should be plugged to discrete VGA card.

2 out of 5 eggs

Pros: It worked with all my other parts perfectly, 4 RAM slots was nice for such a cheap price.

1 out of 5 eggsDOA

Pros: I have no idea

Cons: Dead on arrival. Refunded.

Other Thoughts: I bought it because it was inexpensive and worked with the AMD CPU I bought. It arrived dead. Dead on arrival makes you wonder if there's any quality control/testing.
