5 out of 5 eggsGreat Board

Pros: Love this thing. Great BIOS for OC. Layout is great with plenty of space for whatever you put on it.

Cons: Not much of a con, but this thing is friggin HUGE!!! When I first took it out I was scared it wouldn't fit in my case. Once I cleared everything out and installed this everything else I was a tight fit.

Other Thoughts: I Would totally get this board again assuming it doesn't catch on fire of any reason. OC was crazy simple for the fact that I've never done it before.

5 out of 5 eggs9 months and she's been great!!!

Pros: - It's been a great board. Not much more to say. I can't see spending more for Intel stuff when AMD boards and CPU's are just as good. I have 16GB RAM in her, GTX 970 GPU, AMD FX 8350 CPU. She's a beast when gaming!!

Cons: -none so far

3 out of 5 eggsDecent product

Pros: - Supports lots of RAM (I render a lot and I like to multitask, so my RAM is very important to me)
- Has M.2 (I guess)
- Black and red is my PC's color scheme and this matches perfectly
- SATA 3!!! (my past two mobos from my desktop didn't have SATA III at all)
- USB 3.0!! (same thing as SATA)
- Supports SLI (I use AMD so I don't care about that, but it's a nice thing to have)
- Fairly cheap

Cons: - Doesn't actually support 220w CPUs (the power delivery will just throttle like it would be holding for its life), so my 8350 can't be overclocked a lot.
- It can fail under overclock really easily.
- Apparently, the MOSFETs overheat easily.

Other Thoughts: I don't recommend this mobo for overclocking CPUs like the FX-8350, 8370, or 8150. That's really all I can say.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Logan,

Thank you for purchase and review.
Please allow better air circulation inside the chassis if using liquid/ water cooler due to there will be no air around CPU, VRM and North Bridge chip and potentially built up heat upon usage.

The CPU models that required top-down blowing fan, please visit link below.
http://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/Fatal1ty%20970%20Performance/?cat=CPU
Or install the chassis fan top of VRM (MOSFET) area instead.

5 out of 5 eggsStill doing it!!!

Pros: Plug and play!

Great value for the price.

The M.2 feature on this board is pretty nice my OS loads in seconds.

No issues after i got the OS to install on the M.2...

Cons: Had to back door the OS W7 on the M.2 ssd. was a bit of frustration in the start. -1 egg for this.

Other Thoughts: FX - 8350
DDR3 1333 16gb
R9 290
850w
128gb m.2
2gb sata

I have a inwin Grone case all total with the gpu fans i run 11 fans. i have seen no temp issues. i also generally keep my ambient room temp under 75F, so ive never really stressed the board in that manner. i run temp monitoring software and havn't seen anything out of the norms.

Update:

originally 4 stars +1 for being awesome! been everything i hoped it would be!

Still running strong after about a year i've been very pleased with this board. I would really like to see it restocked, so i can buy 10 more.

1 out of 5 eggsIt took advantage of me being a newcomer

Pros: The pros are nothing but getting money to Advil for headache pills.

Cons: The cons at first aren't present but over time they jump out just as your warranty expires.

First problem was that the motherboard runs hoter then the rest of my system by 15 degrees so if my CPU is at 40 the motherboards at about 55. Then came its terrible overlays which look awful and function the same. All there programs just a unneeded strain on my pc. The fan settings hardly did a thing to the speed of my fans with the bloody rate that they were going flashing on and off baffling me and immediately making me regret buying and wish I had bought the motherboard a month after so I would have bought a different one. Sadly I'm out 139$ plus the useless warranty(I picked it up on willcall so I saved on shipping). Why in the bloody blaze's would newegg have such a horrible item on there website still makes me scratch my head. With a non-working pc till I get a new motherboard. All I can say is thanks asrock and newegg for having such a abhorrent item.

Other Thoughts: Just don't even look. Just buy any other motherboard that isn't this one

1 out of 5 eggsThe MotherBoard

Pros: Looks Nice

Cons: The MotherBoard Sucks. I have had this MOBO for 10 months. So far so good until October, when the MOBO fried after 9 months of owning this board. Luckily there was a warranty, I used the warranty to replace the board and the new board only lasted a week before it fried AGAIN. I hate ASRock and am never buying another MOBO from them again.

Other Thoughts: Don't Buy This MOBO.

2 out of 5 eggsLoaded with features but function is lacking

Pros: Fatal1tty mouse port, gamer armor, loads of USB ports, SLI capability... I mean, of course you'd want to try this board for the price.

Cons: These boards get terribly hot, building a custom water cooler to cool every component you can is recommended. These boards also for some reason tend to arrive defective- FREQUENTLY. Apparently ASROCK and newegg don't much care if they ship you a busted one, I was able to find a slew of instances of DOA 970 performance boards in just a few minutes of poking around. Just go for the 990 killer if you're set on fatal1ty gear, or a ROG if you've got the dough. It's not worth saving a few bucks to get something that has so many down sides.

Other Thoughts: If you get a working one, you'll like it-provided you can keep it from burning out in 3-5 months.

1 out of 5 eggsFatally Fried

Pros: None, poor layout 4+4 is hard to reach, nothing special about this board now that I have had several months using it. Lacks USB ports as well.

Cons: I have had this board just over 6 months and it fried!

Other Thoughts: I was in the middle of playing Everquest 2 and my PC shut down out of the blue. I turned it back on while looking inside case to make sure fans etc were spinning up when suddenly a 3" flame shot up out of the north bridge area and I then heard a frying egg sound. It killed my video card, processor and RAM all at the same time.

It held up to its name sake and is a true "Fatality" motherboard. This is the 3rd ASRock board I have owned that has fried. I will NEVER EVER purchase another ASRock product again, EVER. I'm going back to ASUS.

Now I have to build a whole new computer right here at the holidays and I have very little money to do so because of my disability income and unable to work.

Thanks ASRock for ruining my holidays for the second year in a row.

1 out of 5 eggsJust quit working

Pros: Well...it looks nice. Appears to have good features, which doesn't matter since it seems like everyone's board is failing 5-10 months in.

Cons: Had intermittent blue screen for a while, but I chalked it up to software. Then the board just shut off one day about 9 months into owning it. I swapped out every single part one by one to try and isolate the problem, turns out its the same as everyone else here. Failed Mobo.

Put all parts in my old mobo for now. Going to try and RMA it or something.

Other Thoughts: Would be a nice board, but it looks like a lot of people are experiencing failures with it.

1 out of 5 eggsAsrock JUNK Motherboard

Pros: i wrote a review on how good this MOBO was i take that back. TERRIBLE as hell, never again will i purchase a ASrock mobo. Started BSOD in the first week i had it.

Cons: Who the hell had the idea of putting the front cable audio connectors in the back of the motherboard and right underneath where the GPU is supposed to go? USB connector was, yeah terrible i wouldn't hold my cable in.

Other Thoughts: Terrible waste of a $100 Mobo never again will i buy another ASRock product.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Scott,

Thank you for purchase and review.
Front audio header location is clear from VGA card slot (see attached image).
The header could be near audio chipset due to layout.
However, it would have sufficient space to route the cable.
As always, we appreciate your purchase and constructive reviews are welcome.
