2 out of 5 eggsno onboard graphics

Pros: It's a nice board for the price. When booted with a discreet graphics card, it looks and works well.

Cons: I bought two of these to use as workplace builds. Neither of them will boot with the on board graphics adapter. I tried the VGA and the DVI-D ports. Nothing. I installed a discreet graphics adapter and it works well. Following a suggestion on a forum, I booted with the discreet adapter and changed the BIOS to make the on board ports default. Still nothing when I tried to reboot without the discreet adapter. If I'm doing something wrong, I would like to know what it is. I have built dozens of computers and this is a first for me.

Other Thoughts: I've usually had good luck with Asrock products, but this experience is making me question the purchase of them in the future. I am using a FM2 socket processor.

5 out of 5 eggsOutstanding!

Pros: The software it comes with overclocks without any work! Mine is set to 4.2 Ghz and running 36 Deg.C! Stable and perfect.. I have been watching Netflix on my monitor and its clearer than my HD 60 inch TV! I'm amazed.. I bought the AMD A6-5400K Trinity Dual-Core 3.6 GHz Socket FM2 65W AD540KOKHJBOX Desktop APU (CPU + GPU) with DirectX 11 Graphic AMD Radeon HD 7540D and 8gb Gskill Ram.. The whole build cost me 140 buck for superpower.. I am not a gamer.. However, I am going to buy the A10 and throw that in here for the hell of it.. Outstanding board

Cons: No IDE port

Other Thoughts: Low Price and big return for your money, The BIOS is outstanding!

3 out of 5 eggsStopped Working

Pros: Cheap motherboard, worked fine.

Cons: I'm giving it a three stars, but having this fail right after the return date ended was not pleasing. Will try to RMA it with the manufacturer.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Christopher,

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.
Please trouble shoot the mainboard whether the issue is resolved.
• Unplug the ATX power, remove all components from mainboard.
• Clear the CMOS.
• Test with single memory module.
• Test with onboard video (CPU with integrated VGA or test with VGA card).
• Connect the monitor.
• Plug the 24 + 4 pins ATX power.
• Turn on the power to check if its post.

If you have any technical support inquiry, please contact us at http://www.ASRock.com/Support/tsd.asp
We will assist you shortly.

Thank you

5 out of 5 eggsHTPC ?

Pros: Perfect board for a budget HTPC build.

AND A HEADS UP, that top VGA isn't supported very well at all...when building i would support it with my hand when plugging in the video cause it BENDS BACK!

Cons: none... just watch that VGA port.. don't go jabbing the video cable on that aggressively or you will end up with a broken board.

5 out of 5 eggsNice motherboard

Pros: for the price i could not ask for more this is my 1st asrock mobo and i am impressed uefi bios looks great and easy to navigate posted 1st try

Cons: SATA 3 would have been nice as this mobo only has SATA 2 i knew this when i bought it, and for use for a htpc SATA 2 is fast enough, bigger picture of the front switch header would have been nice
back I/O shield is really cheap looking

5 out of 5 eggsASRock FM2A58M-HD+

Pros: Nice motherboard. Easy to set up for a budget build. Has 3 types of video connectors to ensure future compatibility.

Paired with a 'AMD A6-5400K Trinity Dual-Core 3.6GHz'. Using the APU graphics of the chip, which is decent depending on how high a resolution you intend to view for videos and games.

Ram is 'G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB)'.

Cons: On install of Windows7, the need previously to go to the Asrock site and get drivers: Video, LAN, AMD all in 1 . Windows will initially install generic driver for graphics to get started.
The AMD all in 1, if you point Windows to the general file location for the AMD drivers on your harddrive, will install the 'AMD external events utility', which you can disable in services. I prefer to not have extras processes running that are not needed.

5 out of 5 eggsFine Board

Pros: Has everything youd need to get the Fm2 / Fm2+ system going.
All solid state caps.
she booted right up first try sweeet.
Good bios options

Cons: Dvi plug doesn't use a standard White, its missing 4 little prongs, that allow for a standard Dvi plug, no big deal but its odd.

Other Thoughts: Only supports 1866 fsb BUT I knew that going in.
came with a rebate
