5 out of 5 eggsBow to asrock

Pros: $60
actually supports the higher wattage a10s AND has the power delivery head room to OC very well.
got 7850k to 4.6ghz with 1.3v rock stable while holding 2 dimms @ 2400mhz xmp. slight northbridge OC to help with loading and offloading memory for APU.
gfx clock at 933mhz.
not only was i able to achieve all of that on a $60 board but was able to set it up in about an hour and ran a 12 hour stress. rock stable.
this board allows you to have a $400 beast of an APU gaming machine.
especially with dx12 support on apu. I hope to see 1080p high quality setting on vast majority of games.
as of now any game on 720p maxed.
1080p medium settings.
majority of demanding games can make it between 40-60fps with this OC.

Cons: cheap board few fan headers. 2 pwm and 1 3pin with no voltage control.
A tuning software a little buggy on win 10. (yet to update for win10)
has issues with entering s6 and s7 power states for dehumidifier feature on board. I sadly have this rig in my friends garage.
not sure if its with my corsair cx500 or issue with mobo not an important enough of a feature to dive into TSing.

Other Thoughts: built this as my first apu build and couldnt be happier.
did a lot of research to see if its worthwhile adding r7 graphics to xfire with apu and improvements seem only to be from 10-20%. if youre adding that kind of money to it go for a full dedicated gpu. kill the apu underclock the gfx core and bring nb OC back to stock. and use dedicated and you still have a quad core beast at 4.6 and if lucky enough in silicon lottery 4.7 4.8ghz with proper cooling stable while not using gfx that can give an i5 a run for its money.

so future compatibility for any gpu if you wish to upgrade and a little work and get you a $400 gaming pc in a matx form factor today. apu based off of old architecture is still the way to go IMO for budget gaming.

1 out of 5 eggsWould Not Recommend

Pros: Has many ports

Cons: I ordered this motherboard early of June 2015 and about 4 days ago my monitor would not get detected via DVI or HDMI connection. Tried taking out the RAM and putting it back in and restarting comp, but no luck. Connected monitor to laptop via HDMI and it works. For some reason my monitor is not being detected by this motherboard.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued ASRock Customer

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.
Please trouble shoot the mainboard whether the issue is resolved.

• Turn the power off, clear the CMOS.
• Test with single memory module, switching another memory module if problem still persist.
• Test with onboard video (CPU with APU or test with VGA card).
• Connect monitor to onboard video (HDMI or DVI).
• Turn on the power to check if its post.

If you have any technical support inquiry, please contact us at http://www.ASRock.com/Support/tsd.asp. We will assist you shortly.

Thank you

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Value

Pros: Paired this with an AMD A10, 8GB of memory and got a very fast system for a great price. I found the board to be well laid out for my application. Manual was fine. The on-screen setup/diagnostics maybe not so well documented, but easy enough to figure out.

Cons: None. Having wrestled with some nasty MBs in the past, this one was pleasant to deal with.

4 out of 5 eggsAlright

Pros: Gets the job done
USB 3.0

Cons: BIOS shows AMD A10 APU running 65c... but while in OS (using ASRock program, shows between 31c - 47c and i'm pretty sure that's accurate)

I'm not sure if the UEFI BIOS has a problem reading the temp or the BIOS system is using maybe too much CPU power

I had weird shutdown and restart problems which had me worried for bit, I thought my AMD APU was damaged (from the heat). I updated the BIOS to 1.50 and those problems don't occur anymore. Yay!

Other Thoughts: I will probably get an aftermarket cooler for my APU, that will probably help a lot.

5 out of 5 eggsGood board.

Pros: My first ASRock board, and I'll be looking at them closely for the future.

No troubles with installation; G.Skill ram is stable with zero troubles. I haven't yet done any overclocking, but a cursory glance at the options is reassuring that there is good flexibility there.

I'm using an Athlon 860k rather than an APU, so the onboard graphics headers are not relevant currently, but it's nice to see both DVI and HDMI should I ever decide to stick this board into a media pc with an APU.

Solid caps, and the onboard sound is decent, with noticeably less hum than my AM3 machine.

At this price point, 6 SATA ports and more than 4 rear USB ports are harder to find; this board packs a lot into a small package.

Cons: The motherboard headers for front USB ports aren't in the best spot. With a decent-sized cooler on the graphics card and a card in the regular PCI slot, it took a bit of fiddling to get the cable to fit in without a really crazy bend.

Other Thoughts: It is fairly tiny. The ram is close enough to the cpu that a large aftermarket cooler (the Cooler Master Hyper 212 is what I'm using--it barely cleared the giant sinks on my ram) could cause problems, so watch out for ram with tall heatspreaders.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Cheap FM2+ Motherboard

Pros: Good amount of ports, Small size, good build quality, Bios is easy to use. Fan control is OK.

Cons: Could use an extra 2 PWM fan ports, 2 extra other than the CPU is OK, but it could use more.
