5 out of 5 eggsNice motherboard for the Price

Pros: Small board, plenty of graphics power. I'd highly recommend for a small test server.

Cons: Could use an extra expansion slot.

Other Thoughts: Got this board to build a small server for web application testing. Works great and I'm very happy with the build. Nice little board for the money and plays all of my games including Rust and Space Engineers.

5 out of 5 eggsthe little board that can do HELL of ALOT

Pros: gigabit nic - 4 sata ports - no p4 CPU conn. - fanless (headders available) - decent graphics - up to 16gb RAM - 4 mods of video output (VGA.HDMI,DVI,DP) - USB3.0 x 4 - quad core low power APU - COOL RUNNING - MINI ITX!!

Cons: maybe - no SSD support on MSATA
some video tearing on myth TV native player while using Open SOURCE DRIVER - (doesn't exist on KODI - so i use KODI as Front-END) could be solved by proprietary AMD driver but i dislike the amd drivers

Other Thoughts: running Lubuntu/MythTV + SAMBA file server + torrent client 24/7 64gb ssd for os + 2TB + 2TB (both 2.5") for total power draw of 15.5Watts = 15 dooalrs annualy!!!!!! powered by 60watt - 12volt pico psu and VONAGE device power brick 12v @ 2A (it's not even warm)

CPU load never exceeded 60% - going to add 2 motion detect IP cameras under ZONE MINDER and i don't think it'll be an issue
Serving files @ gigabit flood bandwidth = load 25-30% watching one tv show and recording 3 (not serving files) = load 55-60%
for testing purpose i transferred files while recording (2 shows) and watching one - some studder occurred sue to I/O on HDD's system load load did NOT exceed 65%

1 out of 5 eggsGood while they last; they don't last long

Pros: small footprint, good layout, good price

Cons: They fail. Unfortunately, I own about 10 of these boards, in various -ITX and -WIFI models. They last somewhere between 3 weeks and 8 months, but I've lost 5 of them within the last month. They were purchased at different times, for installations at various locations, all running on battery backups. After the first few began failing at one installation, we suspected power conditions or other environmental problems. We replaced all other components in succession, including the cases, but no resolve. We would run burn-in tests without failure, but then they would still die with increasing regularity in production. We thought it was related to the video circuits, but even our headless, light-duty boxes are now failing after 8 months.

Other Thoughts: The screen goes black and not even a push and hold on the power button will shut it down. You have to remove all power, clear any residual, and power on again. It starts slowly, dieing once a week, then it gets to the point where they won't turn on at all. We've tried various brands of memory, power supplies, etc, but after the 5th unit died, we concluded it was this QC5000 board. It's a shame, as we've had good fortune with other ASRock mainboards.

Manufacturer Response:

5 out of 5 eggsGreat board

Pros: Great for low cost Kodi HTPC's or Home server/NAS's not needing more than 4 SSD. Install LinuxMinst and works great for websurfing/office apps computer. With LinuxMint boots in <30 seconds

Cons: Does come with WiFi cables to back panel (the mini express cards don't either)

Other Thoughts: Would surely recommend or buy again fo another build

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Low cost mini-itx, passive heatsink for quiet operation, 15 watt APU for low cost computing. Comes with mini-pcie slot for WiFi-Bluetooth cards. Has bracket in place for WiFi antennas. Runs cool for a quad core for being passively cooled.

Cons: The PLED is very dim and non-existent with the night time LED set to Enable. Not sure if its a design flaw or a defect seeing as another reviewer mentioned it.
Another issue I found is that Keyboard and Mouse will wake the PC from sleep regardless of what the options are set to. I have tried clearing the CMOS a few times and even with ALL Wake options set to Disabled you can still wake the PC from sleep by a key tap or mouse click. BIOS is not disabling these when set to disabled.

Other Thoughts: Other thoughts are AMD drivers are pure c**p! The drivers that come with the included CD seem to work the best but still have issues. AMD does NOT use an AHCI driver with the chipset and SSDs on these boards have horribly slow Read and Write speeds. I tried several drivers and re-installs.

I even tried to install the AMD AHCI driver (via Google) and that did not work either. Registry edits didnt work either. The only thing that fixed the issue was rolling back the SATA driver to the Standard Microsoft AHCI driver from within Window.

Other than that it is a nice little mini-itx board good for light duty general computing or a nice HTPC. Honestly the AMD E-350 which is a lesser APU performs better. I was disappointed but for 15 watts what do you expect?

4 out of 5 eggsMany firsts for me, not disappointed

Pros: - Price to performance
- Passive cooling
- PCIe slot running at x4
- 4 SATA 3

Cons: - No NIC activity header for PC front panel
- No on-motherboard power LED indicator
- System Power LED header (PLED) produces very dim output, disk I/O header output is much, much brighter. I tested all combos of the BIOS “Good Night LED” setting without success trying to correct that.

Other Thoughts: My first Mini-ITX MB, first SoC, first passive cooling and first ASRock motherboard.

I’ve installed this in an old HP Media Vault MV2020 chassis to use as a NAS4Free (FreeBSD) test system. Tested N4F versions 9.2.0.1 and 10.2.0.2, booting to a USB stick from both USB 2 and 3 ports. NIC is recognized and works fine under both versions. System won’t be used for production since this MB doesn’t support ECC memory, but it works great for testing.

System can max out the GB NIC on an inbound file copy to a 7200 RPM 3.5” disk drive, processor runs at about 35% for that. Ran both drive encryption and ZFS lzjb compression without issues.

Using one 4GB stick of 1333 MHz memory (Corsair XMS3 CMX8GX3M2A1333C9)

No problem with 24 pin power supply connector locking in as reported by others.

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Works well, generally speaking. Nice and quiet, surprisingly powerful, awesome for a HTPC.

Cons: Having trouble with the USB ports, both front and back. I've used multiple different external drives, but in all cases, large file transfers (say, movies) are continuously interrupted by the USB connection failing.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear John,

Sorry for that you having difficulty with USB ports.
