Cons: this motherboard is the worse motherboard that I have ever had!!! had problems since day one of when I bought it. pci ports go in and out drivers disconnect on windows, plus problem starting system back up after is being shut off for a while. I don't know why but all asrock motherboard have the same problem including my asrock extreme 3 970 is the same problem! Other Thoughts: all I know is that I would never buy from asrock again i try two boards and supposed to be good but quality control is not important to asrock they owe me a brand new cpu that the board took with it!!! i do not recommend this to anybody!!! save your self from my mistake and buy your self an ASUS motherboard which i should of done in the first place, at least they never let me down! This review is from: ASRock 970 Performance/3.1 AM3+/AM3 AMD 970 6 x SATA3 6.0 Gb/s Connectors, support RAID (RAID 0, RAID 1, RAID 5 and RAID 10), NCQ, AHCI and Hot Plug 1 x USB 3.1 Type-A Port (10 Gb/s) (Supports ESD Protection (ASRock Full Spike Protection)) Pros: It's a motherboard, and it does all the basic things a motherboard does. It runs my computer. I'm good with that. Cons: It has this thing called x-boost. It sounds really cool and it automatically senses your computer and overclocks. When it does, it corrupts my windows OS and then refuses to boot. I have to reset my computer twice and always twice to get the bios to come up. Then I have to restore defaults in the Bios to get it to run again. Then I have to reinstall or restore/repair my OS to get it to all run okay. Weird... Usually it'll just fail and give me a blank screen. But it regularly will fail and Post 6 times (6 beeps) and boot a blank screen. I contacted ASRock about this issue and they had no idea what 6 posts was or meant. I got a flurry of confused questions when I told them my Mobo wasn't booting and it posts 6 times. Oh and every now and then the UEFI BIOS tool will freeze. The Bios crashes... I have to hit the reset button to get it back. Never have I ever had an MSI board freeze in the bios of all things. Other Thoughts: Given the info listed in "Cons" I'd never buy an ASRock again. I can use the mobo and it works. I just can't use any of the overclocking and dynamic settings. Furthermore it's alarming to have tech support for your motherboard completely bamboozled by something that should have a definitive answer. Google searches for 6 posts came up with a vast cornucopia of nothing. No one knew what's wrong with it. It gets 2 eggs because it works. I'm not horribly dissatisfied, but nothing about it has brought me any wow moments. Mostly moments of disappointment and late nights staying up reinstalling my OS. Manufacturer Response: Dear Anthony, We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you. The X-boost is an easy OC function. However, its based on adopted components, which is not guaranty would be OC on all CPU and memory. For the beeps, the 3 beeps usually related to memory and 5 beeps related to video. For the issue" UEFI BIOS will freeze", please clear the CMOS. Load the BIOS setting default. Reseat the memory. Reseat the GA card.
