5 out of 5 eggsGreat for low noise HTPC

Pros: This board is really cool. During system installing I tried to keep my hand on the heatsink and was able to touch it as long as I wish. That means, that temperature was not higher than 50-55C (~130F) while temperature in the room was around 28C (82F). I have only one very quiet fan in the power supply inside the box. Together with SSD it makes practically ideal HTPC.

Cons: The hardware is too new for using with LinuxMint that I was going to use for this HTPC. And because of that I was not able to get HD Audio stream from it. This chipset support appeared in Linux core 4.1.3 and officially in 4.2, while the current version of LinuxMint uses 3.13.0.

Other Thoughts: Installing Windows 7 and updating to Windows 10 solved problem of HD Audio. However, it takes quite long. Sometimes I even thought I would never get that update. So, be patient during that process, this computer is not too fast in this terms. However, after that for HTPC purposes it is really great.

5 out of 5 eggsSimple and powerful for my purpose

Pros: embedded SOC on the cheap. 1.5Ghz x86_64 quad-core under 60 bucks.

AMD HSA FTW!

3 PCI-E ports

Cons: Passively cooled... Not really a CON, but you need to realize your box MUST ventilate to keep temps down.

Other Thoughts: I'm using it to build a 2U OPNSENSE firewall. Nice 1U corp-grade ones use AMD G-SOC around same speed and build. Small cheap SSD, 4-8GB of RAM, Dual port PCI-E 1G NIC(s), and you can build a fairly nice firewall :D

Where corp grade are prettier, they are around 3K for the awesome ones.. this complete machine cost me around ~$267 which is pretty close where difference in 3K model is it doesn't use cheap realtek NICs.. Spend a bit more money and you can get intel ones which are far more capable, just more costly.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat HTPC / ELNA audio Caps!

Pros: Once setup properly it runs fast with great video playback at 4K.
Very in-expensive build. Costs 1/2 the price for a separate APU and motherboard. ASRock is now using ELNA audio Capacitors on their Motherboards which Audiophiles should love as well.

Cons: These are more nitpicks then cons because of the price. The Auto Memory @ 1600MHz timing did not work well with my Kingston HyperX Beast 1866MHz 8 Gb Memory (the base speed for these memory chips is 1333 MHz even though they are sold as 1866 MHz). I used the timings from CPU-Z for the XMP 2 profile @1600 MHz and bumped up the voltage to 1.6 volts and what a difference, the computer smoothed out and ran just as good as my higher end systems. I also own a ASRock QC5000-ITX that I purchased from here a Year ago and I did the same thing to that and it helped it out as well.
The Motherboard only offers 2 SATA 3 connections and has no on-board USB 3.0 header which the ASRock QC5000-ITX has both, on the upside it does have ELNA Audio Capacitors and 2 PCIe X1 slots that the QC5000-ITX does not. The QC5000-ITX also has a display port that the QC5000M doesn't but the 4k Video is the same with the HDMI port that they both have.

Other Thoughts: It does take some time to get the BIOS set right and adding a video card is a little involved compared to other Motherboards but once setup right this is hard to beat for the price.

Even though I have Overclocked other computers before it has always just been adjusting the Multiplier for the CPU. This is the first time I have messed with the Memory timing settings. In the future I will be learning more about adjusting the Memory Timings because that made the biggest improvement in performance other than installing a SSD.
