5 out of 5 eggsMini board Big performance!

Pros: Inexpensive for a z170 chipset board.
Looks good and runs cool
Helpful how-to to install win 7 on it if you need it on their website and support cd
Just works

Cons: Some bloatware on support cd so be careful to install just what you need.
No USB 3.1 but I didn't need it anyway.
That is pretty much all.

Other Thoughts: Asrock boards have some of the best price/performance ratios of all boards on the market imo.

2 out of 5 eggsDOA

Pros: Quick ship from Newegg. ASRock has always previously been a reliable brand for me.

Cons: DOA. Installed motherboard. No boot. Disconnected everything but keyboard, power supply, memory stick (tried each memory stick separately). No boot. Connected speaker to motherboard speaker connector and on boot, received 4 short beeps. Back it goes for a replacement. Hopefully, replacement works.

Other Thoughts: ASRock has ALWAYS been a reliable brand for me. Maybe, just once. I'll keep buying ASRock, as I still think they are a reliable brand.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Ronald,

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.
4 short beeps also possible related to memory.
Please trouble shoot the mainboard whether the issue is resolved.
• Turn the power off, clear the CMOS.
• Reseat the CPU and heatsink fan.
• Test without memory to check if it making 3 beeps.
• Test with single memory module if its 3 beeps, switching another memory if problem still persist.
• Test with onboard video (plug monitor to onboard video).

Pros: The specs looked good, plenty of usb / sata ports.

Cons: First time getting a DOA item in 18 years of building and the first time trying this brand. Was bound to happen eventually but a wasted day off and more waiting for a replacement is always frustrating.

Other Thoughts: Newegg gave me a free return label without even asking, that's a first, usually returns aren't so easy. Hopefully this is a sign for the better.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear William ,

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.
For future reference, Please trouble shoot the mainboard whether the issue is resolved.
• Unplug the ATX power, remove all components from mainboard.
• Remove the mainboard from chassis, place it on mainboard’s box.
• Clear the CMOS.
• Reseat the CPU and heatsink fan.
• Test with single memory module.
• Test with onboard video.
• Connect the monitor.
• Plug the 24 + 8 or 4 pins ATX power.
• Connect the chassis power switch to mainboard, and try again.

2 out of 5 eggsSome things to consider

Pros: Cheap board worked right out of the box, and has a great bios interface.

Cons: -You will need a fan power hub if you think you'll have more than 3 fans (including cpu fan).
-Only 1 usb header.
-Not much clearance at all between gpu and wifi card (literally 2mm).
-No use in trying to place gpu on the bottom PCI-Express slot due to it blocking off all com ports, usb, etc.

Other Thoughts: I wish I would've seen the standard Pro4 board by asrock before I purchased this one. It is my first pc build, and have learned from my mistakes. I would not recommend this board to really anyone, due to that fact there are much better boards out there for nearly the same price.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Robert,

Thank you for purchase and review.
The information and specification are available at ASRock website to verify they are meet the needs before a decision.

5 out of 5 eggsAfter BIOS update much more stable, solid OC i5 6600k to 4.4GHz

Pros: + Once the BIOS is updated to newer version, it will OC like a champ. Mine is running very stable.
+ Tuning program allows on-the-fly overclocking in Windows
+ Lots of options available in the BIOS for overclocking and voltage control
+ Will default to safest settings if previous POST unsuccessful

Cons: - Have to immediately update BIOS to get stability if you want to OC

Other Thoughts: + Great for the price

5 out of 5 eggsGood budget Z170 board

Pros: - Low cost (especially with mail-in rebate)
- Easy UEFI upgrade from within UEFI via Ethernet
- Good UEFI default settings

Cons: - None

Other Thoughts: The first one was defective. It wouldn't go to sleep, won't power off after shutdown and took 10+ seconds to reset. The RMA was process was fast and straightforward. The one board worked perfectly.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat for the Price

Pros: All USB inputs are 3.0
USB 3.0 headers
Supports RAID
Supports up to 64GB RAM
HDMI video

Cons: Personal Preferences:
DVI-D could've been a DVI- I
SATA 1 & 2 connections were upside-down in my literal case

Other Thoughts: Overall a great board for a great price. Would buy it again even with its "flaws"

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic Budget Skylake Board

Pros: - Very excellent simple motherboard. Has decent features for the price (M.2, Crossfire support, overclocking features, great build quality).
- The UEFI is fantastic. I used the built in PS/2 emulation to install Windows 7 without any issues. Super helpful and very intuitive.
- I like the way it looks. I know some people like the aesthetic of higher tier gaming motherboards, but I think this one looks great.

Cons: - Not a huge fan of the RAM mounting system. Clips only on one side, which makes removing sticks a little dodgy. Just remember to be very careful!
- Placement of the second chassis fan connector is directly underneath my GPU. Made installing the GPU feel like I was going to maybe damage the pins or something, but in the end I think there's JUST enough room that you can have that fan connected and install a large graphics card.

Other Thoughts: If you're looking for a decent Skylake board that's affordable, overclockable, and fits in a Micro package, you've just found it. The two cons I listed didn't actually interfere with my ability to complete the build, so I didn't remove any eggs for them. They're just something to be aware of when working with this board. I love it!

1 out of 5 eggsDOA

Pros: Cutting edge Mobo for half the price of the competition.

Cons: Dead on Arrival. I bought a new intel skylake i3-6100 3.7ghz and two sticks of 4 gig G.skill DDR4-2133mhz dual channel ram. Three long beeps no post. Tried all 16 different configurations for the ram. Both the processor and the ram are found on the QVL. Unplugged everything but PSU processor and ram. Pulled the CMOS battery for an hour and put it back in, still will not boot.

Other Thoughts: After spending $40 to rush order a working MOBO I went with Asus, they have been good to me in the past. Asrock has a bad mark in my book now. Their Motherboard manual is terrible. Very little technical data, no trouble shooting codes, had to look those up myself. If my some impossible chance both of the sticks of ram are bad I will update my review

Manufacturer Response:

• Check the mainboard’s CPU contact pins are normal (should be pointing same way and pattern).
• Reseat the CPU and heatsink fan if socket pins are normal.
• Reseat firmly to test with single memory module (non-ECC, un-buffered).
• Test with onboard video.
• Connect the monitor.
• Plug the 24 + 8 or 4 pins ATX power.
• Connect the chassis power switch to mainboard.

5 out of 5 eggsFeature packed, price is incredible value. You don't need anything more than this for 99% of all power users.

Pros: I am using this with a 6700K, 32GB Ram, Samsung 950 Pro M.2 and I have a large RAID 5. Initially I had some bugs with booting off m.2 And Intel's RST not thinking my raid was compatible, but it was still all working with great support we got it working and with the last bios update of 2.4 all is working now. I love the small form factor. With Asus is having _so_ _many_ _troubles_ with skylake and new bios updates almost bi-weekly, I avoided them. Happy with Asrock.

Cons: Nothing. Lacks USB 3.1? I don't have any devices anyways.

Other Thoughts: As of Bios 2.4 (Jan 25th 2016) there are no problems with m.2 and RAID. Do not hesitate to get this board, all the Skylake Bleeding edge bugs have been worked out. As long as you don't need more than 2 way SLI/CF, and 1 M.2 + 4 SATA devices, this is a high end board with every feature you could ever want. I can't comment on how well it overclocks, but overclocking requires a lot of expensive cooling that gives you maybe 1-5 more FPS, so it's not really worth voiding all your warranties. The gamble is just not cost effective, just buy a more expensive videocard or cpu that will give you more performance per dollar than buying hardware to support overclocking.
