2 out of 5 eggsHorrible luck

Pros: -Boots in UEFI
-Didn't start on fire :)

Cons: Stock Bios is horrible. Tried to install Windows 10 from newly downloaded DVD. No go. Tried everything in the bios to disable anything I didn't need. When I locked up multiple times (was still able to hit Ctrl+Alt+Del though) I decided enough was enough. Tried the online bios update. That seemed to work, but instead of loading to ram, it required a USB drive. Had to cancel when it asked for one. All I could hit was cancel at that point. Rebooted. Dead. Reset CMOS, started working again. :)

Got a USB Drive and updated to 1.60. Seems much more stable. No dice on Windows. Several errors, WHEA, KMOD, etc. Overall, it most of the time would get into the installer then just crash. Ctrl+Alt+Del did not work here. Tried a new drive, swapped memory around, etc. Nothing. Even tried with built in video.

Updated to 1.61 beta to see if that was better. Same. Reverted back, found some ACPI advanced settings to disable. Still nothing. Overall, it is worthless. Put my old system back in and cleaned out the case. Typing on it now.

Other Thoughts: I'm really not sure what is going on here, but when I bought the board the header on this page said it had WIFI. I knew that to be false. Then a couple days later it had another option stated that it truly didn't have. Didn't think much of it. NOW IT SAYS IT HAS ASSASSIN'S CREED!!! Nope. Another false claim.

They really need to clean that up.

This is the 8th board I have had from Asrock. Most of the time they are very solid budget boards, but this time was enough. I am currently using a Fatal1ty Z87 Killer board that I have had 2 years. This one has been rock solid, but Christmas 2 years ago it was not. If I unplugged that one for a while I had to clear the cmos for it to even power up. Got a replacement from this here site and it has been fine ever since. 3 more of my friends have purchased the same board with no issues from the board itself.

Since this is the second Christmas that Asrock has let me down, I am officially done with them. I will spend a couple extra bucks and get an ASUS (which I have even bought open box items with less issues than these boards) or MSI. I have had issues with Gigabyte as well, but they were all no big deal as the manufacturer covered all issues.

**UPDATE** I may have been too harsh with this board. I have been reading up on DDR4 compatibility and Z170 motherboards. I see that many people have had to do a few things to make it stable. They say to change all memory settings to manual and enter in the timings of your ram kit. Also, JEDEC has been known to not work as well. Some kits have the jedec settings the same as the XMP settings, so it never defaults to a safe value. So, manually set the timings as safe as possible.

The second thing that many have had to do is increase the memory voltage in .1 increments until it runs ok with more than one dimm. I did not change that at all. The kit I have is G-Skill F4-2800C16D-8GRR. I saw this in a couple youtube videos with other motherboards and they didn't say anything about having to tweak it, but others have had issues with many brands.

I had almost the same issues with another Asus Z170-A motherboard that has the 16 gig Ripjaws 4 kit in their QVL list. I didn't see these things before I RMA'ed my CPU and memory. Now I get to wait 2 weeks to see what will fix this.

Since I have no way to verify if that is the issue with this board, I increased the eggs to 2. If I confirm that the memory needs to be tweaked on the Asus, then this board wasn't too shabby and I would give it 4 out of 5 eggs as the features are nice. Bios was horrible, and inputs have a little to be desired if using the integrated GPU.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat MB

Pros: Good price, stable board, usb 3.1. This board may not look flashy but it gets the job done with all the basic features you need. My last two computers have had AsRock motherboards and both computers have been rock solid machines. I always make sure I pair the motherboard with a good, high quality, name brand power supply. There is no reason to buy a junk power supply. Newegg has specials on name brand power supplies everyday. A good power supply will save you lots of headaches in the end.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: The importance of a good power supply as the foundation for a stable system cannot be stressed enough. If you pair this motherboard with a high quality power supply and RAM it will be rock solid. Anyone having trouble with system stability needs to first look at your power supply. Just about any motherboard will work great as long as it's being feed good power. If you have to cut corners then try to save money elsewhere in your build. Always buy a good power supply.

1 out of 5 eggsDead On Arrival

Pros: Has an NVME M2 interface that can be booted from... Supposedly.

Cons: It arrived DOA in December 2015. This wasted a lot of my time troubleshooting. My first DOA, so I just wasn't ready to accept that it can be. I finally unplugged everything and got down to just PSU, CPU, HSF and still no beeps. The HSF come on, LED light turn on but no beeps, no display. I'm very disappointed. Just hoping that newegg can send me a super-stat replacement when I call tomorrow morning.

5 out of 5 eggsinteresting, reliable

Pros: ` seems like a nice, stable, reliable systemboard at a reasonable price.

I installed an i3-6100 (dual 3.7 GHz), running Ubuntu Linux, with no issues.

I measured power consumption, including 500 w power supply and M.2 SSD, at only about 30 watts at idle, which surprised me as it uses no more than my previous 3.6 GHz i3-4350. Nice !

Cons: none of which I'm aware

Other Thoughts: I wish it had more USB 3.1 Type-A, rather than an external and internal Type-C, which are of little/no use to me ... no big deal, though.

Cons: MOTHERE BOARD CAME TO MY HOUSE FROM LAST WEEKS (10/26/2015), UNTIL TODAY 11/3/2015, I OPENED EVERYTHING I'VE ORDERED, AFTER INSTALLED EVERYTHING INTO 1 PIECE, WHEN I TURN ON THE PSU, NOTHING ON, I TOOK EVERY CABLE OUT FROM PSU, AND THEN I TEST PSD WITH THE PSU TESTER, PSU FANS WORKING, I TRIED 2 MORE TIMES BY PUG IJ THE POWER A4 PINS ADAPTER, BUT NO WORK........DOA 1000%

Other Thoughts: NO NEED TO THINK MAN
