5 out of 5 eggsNot bad

Pros: It works! Went with the cheapy and got one that works...good deal

Cons: Its a socket 754, but that will change when i buy my 939

Other Thoughts: I first got the TUL AX480A7-F DO NOT BUY! That board is junk and it is not compatible with the socket 754 amd with E6 stepping. This board is working great for now

5 out of 5 eggsNice for the price!

Pros: It works!

Cons: I'm sure you get what you pay for, so I'm not planning on keeping this motherboard too long. But that's what upgrading is for right? :)

Other Thoughts: I have built a few budget pc's with no prob, but you gotta watch out for the AMD athlon 64 bit socket 754. I have the E6 revision, and found out the hard way that alot of socket 754 boards DO NOT support the E6 revision....but the albatron does!!!!

5 out of 5 eggsReview Rewrite

Pros: It has a small layout with a blue PCB board. Very easy to setup inside the case, and gives plenty of room to work around. Performance and stablility of the board is above average for the price. No comapatibility issues with software.

Cons: PCI/AGP frequency runs synced to the Hyper Transport frequency, which basically means, no AGP/PCI locks. Limited overclocking due to the lack of the PCI/AGP lock.

Other Thoughts: If the chipset had PCI/AGP locks, it would be the perfect budget overclocking board. ULi chipset is rock solid. I pushed it to 300 FSB with a Sempron 64 1.6 GHz stock, ocing it to 2.4 GHz without realizing that the agp bus was running at 100 MHz. Haha, my bad. For some weird reason, I had to download SATA drivers from the ULi website in order to install Windows XP, although I suspect that it is my floppy drive.

I am reviewing this board again since I am not convinced that I gave a proper review the last time. This motherboard is perfect for the average user, perhaps a family or office computer. Putting a Sempron on this motherboard is a very effective way of making a budget computer.

5 out of 5 eggsExperience with Albatron Motherboards

Pros: I do not own this board but I have 3 different Albatron board in three different computers. They are great boards and I plan to buy another one very soon. The reason why I am posting this is because the guy who posted the review with a similar title to mine seems to know nothing. He says this board is made in China, which is halfway write but it is made in Taiwan. He says this like its a bad thing.

Cons: I don't own this board.

Other Thoughts: This is probably a great board.

1 out of 5 eggsexperience with Albatron Mobos

Pros: boots up fine. wait from about 1 month to few years later. then instability comes up

Cons: I have noticed the poor quality workmanship on these boards. I noticed that these boards and others are made in China. Which is obviously isn;t New Egg's fault. Lets take a good look. If you buy a cheap board. more than likely it will come DOA. Its the chance a person takes in looking for something to do with pc building. I would definetly try for a Gigabyte or another name brand. I noticed that having a fan on the north bridge heat sink causes a major headache. when shopping for a mobo. look for one without the fan on the northbridge heatsink. usually it mean long life.

Other Thoughts: I wished that I would have bought the Gigabyte mobo with AMD socket A. They were stabile boards. You get what you paid for. remember this. my specs are as followed.

AMD athlon
3000 + socket A

Kingston HyperX
1024 mb ddr 333mhz ram dual channel

western digital 40 gig hdd
(main drive)
120 gig western digital
(storage drive)
windows xp home edition

Comments: Nice small mobo. My last mobo and video card came from albatron, so I trust them. Had problems with setting up SATA drivers because of the corrupt drivers that came on my CD. Just download the ones from the albatron website and use them instead.

4 out of 5 eggs

Comments: Baught this baord to test with Linux and it works great. Needs atleast 2.6.14-rc1 kernel for the onboard nic to work but everything else works without an issue.

The board is smaller than most others I have played with so it makes for a tight fit with water-cooling. The chipset can't use a DD maze4 or z-chipset block. You could prolly epoxy on the chipset block if you wanted to though but you better make sure that's something you really want to do.

The OC'ing is decent and the board seems stable at over 250mhz, that's my known ram limit I have found from other boards and I am pretty sure this board could go further.

To me it has a very clean layout as long as you don't want to use a floppy drive as it's connector is located under the pci slots o.O

All in all 4 stars, solid board, performs good, works in Linux, and decent OC'ing.

Comments: Whipped up a 64 bit workstation/home computer with this board. No Problems. If you need the 64 bit chipset drivers, download them at the ULi website I included with this review.
