5 out of 5 eggsGood board

Pros: Good quality board, supports 2 processors (but will also work with just one), work well in 1U cases

Cons: No PCIE-16 video slot, but I'm running as servers with on-board video anyway.

Other Thoughts: Purchased 2 of these for new server builds running quad-core Xeons & Win Server 2003 in Supermicro 1U cases. Been running 24/7 for a couple months now without any problems

3 out of 5 eggsNot Good For Home

Pros: This board is very nice and is a very amazing board. Installation was a cinch and it looked like it woulda ran great if I managed to get to the point where I would turn it on.

Cons: No PCI Express x16 slots. This is a real bummer for those who plan to but this for a home/gaming machine. I know it's a server board but those are the best ones really.

If you plan on getting this for home use like gaming, don't bother. You could get a GeForce 8000 series in a PCI-e x8 slot, but it's about as far as that goes at the moment as far as PCI-e x8 graphics cards.

Other Thoughts: The one up from this that is $50 more will support PCI-e x16. it's the X7DAL-E by SuperMicro.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome mobo!

Pros: This 'unofficially?' supports quad-core xeons and will run them with or without a second processor in the socket. The bios is excellent and comes with some very handy logging and remote terminal features. Holds a ton of memory.

Cons: Has a cpu heatsink bracket which did not sit properly in my Athena Power 2U case, but worked fine in my Chenbro pedestal.

Other Thoughts: Bought two of these, loaded one with one quad-core xeon 5405 and the other with two of them. Bought super-talent ECC FB-DIMMs to go with it as well, worked beautifully.
