Cons: I will never again buy a SuperMicro product. I ignorantly deducted that buying a case and MB from the same supplier would make the building process smoother. How stupid was I.
Instead of planning on buying an aftermarket cooling solution, since SuperMicro made sure you can't use the one that comes with the chip that THIS BOARD IS DESIGNED TO USE, I suggest you do yourself a favor and buy another board.
If they suck so bad they can't even get the right mounting solution for the chip btw. their case and their MB, then they do not deserve your business.
Other Thoughts: I can't wait to find out everything else wrong with this board.

This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: Built a second system with this board. It runs 100% stable with no issues or problems.
Cons: It's a huge board. But, when you buy this you expect it, right?
Other Thoughts: 32 gigs Crucial DDR 2 FB DIMMs, dual X5482 Xeons (these are thermonuclear reactors), ATI Radeon 4870 x2, Areca ARC 1280ML-2G, 4 500 GB WD in RAID 0, 5 Seagate 1.5 TB in RAID 6, 4 Seagate 1.5 TB in RAID 6, 4 Seagate 1 TB in RAID 5, 3 WD 2 TB in RAID 5, PC Power and cooling 1200 watt ps, Mountain Mods Ascension case, PC Power and Cooling 910 watt silencer (2nd installed), Plextor DVD, LG Bluray

Pros: I got it open box for about 250 and it was unmolestered ;)
Holds a lot of ram.
Runs well in windows 7 rc1 with zero driver installs so far and no updates.
With two L5410 quad xeons I get about the same heat waste as my old dual core proc that was only .6~ ghz faster with a slower fsb and mem. AKA -- its not hot in the room now and not noisy and my computer is faster, a good thing.
Cons: The board could use some more ports, such as usb and has no firewire ports, only headers(no big deal really).
Not a con on the board itself but I can tell you to go and get yourself a cpu cooler such as the dynatron h46g(x2) and that little plate will save you a lot of hassle fabricating a part that SHOULD come with the cpu or mobo. It snugs the cooler to the board and does NOT require making standoffs or other elaborate contraptions to attach the heat sink(you will need something, else if you have the time, a mill, a tap and die set, some calipers, a drill press, be my guest and make those plates or drill and tap some aluminum standoffs, not me, though i have all that the price is cheaper than my time). That fan is dead quiet when you set the bios correctly.
Other Thoughts: Why in the world doesn't either the mobo or cpu come with a full mounting solution? That's just flat out ignorant in my book. Are they attempting to help the job of installation tech retain its lifespan and thus increase revenues by offering some certification or what? Here's a car chassis and the road, if you can make it go its yours.....
