Supermicro mainboards are well-known to be VERY picky about installed RAM. And what about this one? Could I simply buy any ECC REG DDR3 modules? Or I should dig through compatibility lists and then pray the ones I bought will work, even if they are in the list?

I used mine with various Samsung 8GB/16 as well at Hyinx 8GB/16 and I didn't have any trouble. Right now I have all the slots filled with Samsung 16GB's M393B2K70DM0-CF8Q8. Ironically it seems like all they validate are Samsung and Hyinx. I got lucky and was able to take DIMMs from work but if I had to buy I would go with Kingston. I never had any trouble with them. I just built a SuperMicro Atom server using Kingston ECC and they worked great.

Will this MoBo support 16GB 1600MHz RDIMMs? I have an old blade server that i'm trying to scrap for parts.

I'm pretty sure the motherboard will accept it, but it will bump the speed down to 1333
