1 out of 5 eggsReplacement didn't work either

Pros: None

Cons: This was the biggest waste of my money ever. Neither the original motherboard NOR the replacement would output any video at all, no matter what. As far as I'm concerned, SuperMicro stuff is pure trash. Very expensive trash at that.

5 out of 5 eggsMakes a great linux server

Pros: Using this for a linux file server, possibly a NAS. Running Linux software raid 5 with all 6 sata ports full. Very fast write speeds and lower pwr consumption. Stays very cool w/ all the drives humming.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: I've done some basic read/write tests. Waiting on a switch capable of trunking and a couple nics to jack it to my lan. Then I will thrash it but good. It will be a storage box for mythtv as well as a backup device. I think it will do just fine.

4 out of 5 eggsThis is NOT an Mini ITX board

Pros: Great board, no technical problems at all.

Cons: The board is wider than Mini ITX specification, and therefore did not fit in to the Mini ITX case I purchased for it. This is insanely stupid. If you're going to call it a Mini ITX it needs to be the standard height. Very annoyed that I have to exchange the case I purchased for this board for another.

5 out of 5 eggsx7spe - freaking awesome

Pros: 2 nics, IPMI, 6 sata

I use linux and have for 13 years. This board rocks!!! I am getting +80mbps through put over 1 nic. Installed F14 to a usb flash drive. It is fast once it gets loaded. But I am still pleasantly suprised at the disk performance i am getting off the $3 usb drive i am using for all my local partitions. Installed 3 drives in linux software raid5 upgrade to 6 when i need them. Using it for iscsi/aoe, still testing which to use there. Its totally silent.

On supermicro's website it says it has a proprietary layout. I have it mounted in a cheapy case temporarily. it fits fine, normal board layout. You don't have to buy a super-micro case.

With only the PSU fan, it is running about 33C or 90F. IPMI was as easy as dhcp. I used ddr2 600. I forget what brand what ever was cheapest on newegg at the time. I think it was kingston value ram or maybe patriot I can't find the little card right now. dmidecode just says Manufacturer00 and Manufacturer01.

Cons: the other reviewers...

Other Thoughts: I am going to buy another one of these. I love this board. The nics have an option for booting iscsi targets.

5 out of 5 eggsworks fine

Pros: worked fine right out of the box... IPMI is really a cool feature... basically KVM over ethernet... can watch post, play with bios from the comfort of my desktop...

Cons: a bit pricey...

Other Thoughts: picky about memory, but I knew that going in... so I bought recommended memory to start with...

1 out of 5 eggsDOA

Pros: None

Cons: Could not get it to work

Other Thoughts: Like the other guy I could not get any video no matter what I tried. The board seems to be quite picky about the memory as different memory produced different symptoms/results. After several hours I gave up and returned it to Newegg.

1 out of 5 eggsJunk

Pros: None

Cons: Needed a server motherboard to get my server up and running again - my old motherboard had died. I chose this one because the processor was built onto the board. Using the manual, I installed this motherboard and worked for five hours checking all the settings and connections (including the jumpers for VGA) even trying a good video card - could NEVER get video output of any kind. DO NOT buy one of these if you don't want to waste time.
