5 out of 5 eggsGreat for pfSense or freeNAS

Pros: Plenty of punch & low power. Intel NICs.

Cons: No IPMI. Low max RAM (to be fair I'm sure that's a CPU limitation not a mother board limitation).

Other Thoughts: I use it for pfSense. I have at least a dozen vlans, VPN, some IP blocking, QOS, multiple WAN connections and some connection logging. It has plenty of resource headroom.

This would also make for a nice little freeNAS box, but check your RAM requirements if your going to be using ZFS file system.

4 out of 5 eggsThis motherboard does not have IPMI

Pros: This board is rocking with features.

Cons: I am primarily creating this review to let people know that the X7SPE-H-D525-O does not have IPMI, the X7SPE-HF model does however. One small letter in the model number makes a large difference.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat little board

Pros: I have been using this board for over a year in a Linux file server in my home running CentOS 5, what a great little board! Uses very low power and has plenty of drive inputs.

Cons: Don't expect too much out of the Atom CPU, its great at serving files but CPU intensive operations will take a significant amount of time, such as compressing/decompressing files etc. This is to be expected!

Other Thoughts: Great value, I've loved having this running all of the storage at my house.

2 out of 5 eggs

Pros: low power

Cons: burned up after 3 months
it has Gbit lan but it doesn't have enough power (even with jumbo frames) to stream 1080p movies over the lan

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome boards

Pros: Huge bang for your buck when it comes to compatibility and stability. Windows Servers. Linux Servers. BSD servers. VMWare ESXi. You're ready.

Cons: Like all the other reviews said, this doesn't fit a standard mini-ITX profile. Get a slightly larger case for better air flow and customization options and you won't have whine about it later! :)

Other Thoughts: I've installed several of these boards in various server rolls and have nothing but smiles!

3 out of 5 eggsi think i will like it

Pros: every thing about the board seems great
a perfect server atom board with 2 gigabit ports so i can load balance, and and 6 sata ports for lots of drives and such, also bought a vidabox cube case which is also very nice as far as mini-itx cases go

Cons: EXCEPT-----i was unable to mount in my case that i bought because this is a FlexATX board NOT a mini-ITX as described in the overview, the MBD-X7SPA-H-D525-O is a mini-ITX, but new egg does not have that board on there sight

Other Thoughts: i had to return as did not fit in my case, if i new it was a flexATX mount i would have looked for a differant case

5 out of 5 eggsI like it!

Pros: 6 sata ports, low power, passive heat sink,

Cons: max res 1024x768

Other Thoughts: uses about 33watts with a single SSD drive and a single 120mm fan sitting in bios. obviously this will be higher when processor is loaded or more drives are added.

stays well under 100watts with 1SSD drive and 6x 2TB WD greens
