Is the X9SCM-F-O motherboard Newegg shipped you a version 2.0 or newer product? Did you install a version2 Xeon CPU on this board, without a bios update?

I had bricked a board previously by doing a bios update to version 2. The new board came with the latest update and I used the same E3 Xenon processor. Worked like a charm. Be careful with bios updates.

No, only Xeon E3s, Core i3-3xxx, Pentiums, and celerons are supported. Also you need a specific type of RAM, this board is finiky about that. DDR3-1333 (PC3-10600 unbuffered ECC)

Since I use this motherboard in a white box ESXi server, I don't have a sound card installed. Not sure what your use case is, but this might not be the best board to use for a work station.
