5 out of 5 eggssimulation machine

Pros: ATX form factor.
Supports latest haswell Xeon, 2600 V3 series.
DDR4 ECC Registered Dimms.
plenty of SATA ports that are nicely arranged.
Good layout for easy connection.
Excellent price.
Server grade BIOS.
Excellent technical support.
Memory down clocks automatically to support 1866GHz CPUs.
Has 2x 8-pin connectors to power CPU
Supports hyperthreading and the ability to disable it.

Cons: Cryptic error messages. At boot screen if something is not operating correctly, you wont even get to the post screen to enter the BIOS.
Hard to tell whats wrong by yourself and I would recommend contacting support to troubleshoot.

1 PCI-express slow thats x16. Would of traded a x8 for another x16 so that I can run a decent GPU for gaming and 1 CUDA card for simulations.

Other Thoughts: Got this mobo to build a CAE simulation machine.
2x 2630 V3 Xeons
4x 16GB GB DDR4 Supermicro certified Hynix Dimms
1 Intel SSD
1 2TB HDD
Evga 750W PSU with 2x 8-pin CPU connectors
1 R7 250X GPU

Handles time and frequency domain simulations really well, especially with 16 physical cores.
I had a bad CPU and the system wouldn't post. If the bad CPU is in socket 1 this will happen as the motherboard depends on CPU 1 for booting and peripherals. Called tech support, they told me to swap CPUs and behold, CPU #2 in socket 1 made my system post and I was able to get into the BOIS. RMA'd the faulty CPU and now all is well.

1 out of 5 eggsNot seeing 2nd CPU

Pros: It sees one CPU1 and had lots of connector and BIOS options

Cons: Doesn't see 2nd CPU
Posts very slow, even for a server board

I tried:
- Swapping CPU – Both worked in CPU1 socket, but CPU2 didn’t show up either way
- Using just CPU1 with both CPUs – Both CPUs worked in CPU1 socket
- Using just CPU2 with both CPUs – Neither worked in CPU2 socket, system would not post
- Swapping CPU EPS 12V power connectors – CPU1 only worked

Unable to return since it's been over 53 days, got LGA 2011 v2 CPU by mistake at 1st and realized I needed v3 ones when reviewing received parts :(

Other Thoughts: I've sent an e-mail to SuperMicro support and will revise this review when I hear back.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Board

Pros: Dual LGA 2011-3
Support for E5-2xxx
Fits in an ATX mid tower case
Supports DDR 4
PCI-e 16x v3 compatible

Cons: Not a "Standard" ATX mid tower layout

Other Thoughts: I put this in a NZXT source 210 and I needed to have plastic stand offs on 2 of the screw hole. Not a major con and everyone building a server can solve this in about a minute. Very nice quality board and much cheaper then its overpriced competitors *cough* ASUS *cough*. No SAS support but personally I would use a hardware RAID card anyway. This is a narrow ILM board so when purchasing heat sinks make sure they are compatible.
