5 out of 5 eggsGreat 24/7 Computer basics.

Pros: Surprisingly quick processor! No AMD is this energy efficient and no Intel. Stable. Ample power to archive, play digitized movies, rip cd's, etc. and low low power usage.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: This C7 is not slow at all. I use this for a 24/7 machine for downloading. Handles tasks as well as an Athlon 64 cpu I have. 45w drain idle, 70w maximum under load (system total), with 3 drives, 4 80mm fans (no daughter cards), and 1 Plexwriter drive.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Cheap for a combo of cpu and motherboard. Almost twice faster than C3(800MHZ). The max # of drives is 6(2xSATA+4IDE), which is great for making NAS. Low power consumption, mine is 50W with 1xIDE + 1xDDR2 on idle.

Cons: Its CPU is C7-D(model A) and there is no PowerSaver feature on it. It means you can't change CPU's frequency to save power.

Other Thoughts: I connected 5 drives with v21g. One drive is for the system disk, and 4 drives are Raid1 and Raid5 with Linux-EVMS. The raid drives are spined down usually and the system is the perfect NAS system for me. I tried CentOS5 and FedoraCore6 and both worked fine.

3 out of 5 eggsIt Seems OK

Pros: Cheap. Fast enough for my needs. Low power consumption. Seems to be very stable with Windows XP and Ubuntu Linux.

Cons: Could not get microphone to work properly (distorted audio) or line-in to work at all. Speaker sound is OK.

Other Thoughts: I decided not to RMA. I will just by a cheap sound card later, if I decide that I need one. PC is being used for practicing Windows installations, learning various Linux Distros, and eventually I may turn it into a homemade NAS.

4 out of 5 eggsGood Deal

Pros: Good deal for the price.
Included C7 1.5 GHz cpu is surprisingly adequate for most computer needs. It makes less noise than the power supply I have hooked to it. Boots from USB flash drive.

Cons: REQUIRES P4 4-pin connector for power to cpu.

4 out of 5 eggsIt is what it is

Pros: It does what it's supposed to do, basic computer functionality. It plays all standard definition media files without stuttering.

Cons: It struggles with multitasking, which is to be expected with any C7 system. I give it a 4 rating because you buy a C7 system to be dead silent, and PC Chips goes ahead and puts a 5200rpm fan on the cpu.

3 out of 5 eggsChanging Specs

Pros: Good board. Video and audio quality are excellent for on board solutions. The via C7 provides enough power to do things like decode a divx video and browse the web w/ no slow down. Performance on games in teh warcraft 3 generation is also surprisingly good.

Cons: PC Chips was probably pressured by via to remove the on board over clocking feature as it undoubtedly hurts via's market strategy (bump up the clock speed in .5ghz intervals) If your lookinbg for one of these board to over clock, despite what you might read on the internet, this version is no longer easily over c lockable.

Other Thoughts: It worked out of the box.

5 out of 5 eggsJust perfect size

Pros: It's hard to find this size motherboard. I have a old system which has the exact same size motherboard need to be replaced. Put this combo inside and get the system life back.

Cons: IT's OK...
