4 out of 5 eggsNo technical support

Pros: Good basic functionaliy

Cons: No qualified technical support from ECS

Other Thoughts: See previous post, no audio downmix. Mentioned I was using the most recent drivers (even named the version). "Technical" assistance told me to try downloading the latest drivers. I could train my cat to give technical support like that.

5 out of 5 eggsNo audio down-mix

Pros: Works well other than this...

Cons: Driver has the option for 6 (5.1), 4, or 2 speakers. If playing source material with the dialog only in the center speaker, but you have the software configured for stereo, the audio does not come through.

Other Thoughts: Anybody else run into this problem?

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Easy overclocking, supports IDE and FDD drives (does anyone still use floppy?), support for 45nm processorsand 64-bit OS.

Cons: Limited OC options, single channel memory.

Other Thoughts: This is my first build. I actually bought the ECS variant of this board (ECS owns PC Chips, so who cares). Anyway, paired the board with a E7200 C2D, 1GB of DDR2 800. Was able to set the FSB up to 1333, delink the memory clock to 800 mhz, then sent the FSB frequency to 1333. This OC'd the CPU to 3.17 ghz. Not bad. The board will let me set the FSB freq. even higher (I moved it past 1700, without setting it), although I was told not go beyond 3.17 ghz on this board since it is a low-end unit. Coming from an old 1.8 ghz AMD processor, 3.17 ghz on this board far exceeds what I had before.

System specs:
CPU: Intel E7200 C2D
Sys. Memory: 1GB DDR2 800
HDD: Seagate Barracuda 80gb SATA
Power: Echostar (generic) 450watt PSU

5 out of 5 eggsPleasantly Surprised!

Pros: Very Cheap mobo. OC's surprising well. I am using it with a e1200 Celeron (1.6ghz Dual Core 800mhz fsb) and as soon as I got the board I set the fsb to 1333mhz and instantly got a very healthy boost to 2.66mhz which is a solid 40% increase in frequency!

The original bios did not have any real ocing features except setting the fsb to 533/800/1066/1333 settings. I was pleasantly surprised when I updated to the latest bios and suddenly got FSB in 1 MHZ steps along with Linking/Unlinking the memory controller with the option to set the ram freq independantly of the fsb in 1 Mhz steps as well!

Other ocing based features are setting the chipset/northbridge voltage and the ram voltage up to 2.0v.

Uses the Via Vinyl based HD Audio with 8 channel support. It has a 100dB SNR which is not to bad for being so cheap and supports up to 24 Bit resolution and 192kHz Samples.

Cons: Well, it is a very basic, no-frills board, which for the price is to be expected. Only has the normal standard mobo features.

No CPU voltage options even with the latest bios update. I wasn't expecting that feature anyways.

And as others have pointed out its only single channel memory. Its doesn't kill performance to much though, only in the 5% range in the real world and maybe 10% in rare conditions. Not even noticable for the most part.
There are only 2x memory slots too.

Other Thoughts: Overall I am happy with the board even though I didn't buy it for myself.

Make sure you update to the latest bios as it will add some useful ocing features.

I got a final CPU overclock right at 3.0 ghz using a 1500mhz (Quad Pumped 375mhz) which is a very solid oc! I tried to literally double the clockspeed to 3.2ghz but its a no go. It is still very good at the 3ghz range. I oced the memory from 667mhz to 800mhz as well.

Be sure to go to the Pcchips site to download the latest bios.

3 out of 5 eggsboard has xp drivers

Pros: Good cheap board, not alot of options but you get for what you pay for. only getting a 32bit OS so i don't need more than 4GB ram( thanks for the patch to see all 4GB).

Cons: for the price their aren't any. if this would have cost more i would have wanted more features, but at this price it just works and that is fine with me

Other Thoughts: The board has drivers for XP and Vista. Just go to PCCHIPS website. for the person that says it doesn't work with xp, they must have never heard of google, or d/l from the manufactures website

3 out of 5 eggsOverall a letdown

Pros: This board is extremely cheap for what it offers.

Cons: Not dual-channel, placement of a few things really irks me (IDE & 24-pin power connector), there's only one IDE channel.

PC Chips has absolutely no drivers for Linux, and what little support it has for XP is mediocre; I had to buy another audio card/network card.

Other Thoughts: Overall, I would have picked a different motherboard if I could, but if you're running Windows on your rig, this board is fine.

5 out of 5 eggsrock solid o/c stability for cheap!

Pros: o/c's crazy easy! - great sata transfer speeds - inexpensive - Overall performance is way above average

Cons: not dual channel - bad placement of USB front headers

Other Thoughts: I took a q6600 to 3.0ghz with ONE setting change. Nice. And what a difference in performance! This board is incredible. I'll be getting another. (didn't use onboard video so can't comment on that)

4 out of 5 eggsexcellent for my purpose

Pros: Easy to overclock e2180 with this, accepted my patriot memory no problem, clean setup, everything is accessible, drivers loaded fine from cd. Overclocked to 2.7 with one bios change, I think it could do more with better memory

Cons: Single channel memory, but I knew that before buying. I figure it is a 10% performance hit, but I can live with it.

Other Thoughts: Bought the e2180 combo to upgrade my inlaws old 754 sempron desktop that was bogging down on them. This thing will run circles around that setup and even beats my e4400/p965 combo.

5 out of 5 eggsMy Fist Time

Pros: This is my first install and I was able to understand all the directions for installing all components that where going into my box. I installed an optical drive, HDD, and hooked up all cables from the case easily and successfully. On board graphics and sound are perfectly fine for a computer which main uses are going to be internet, word processing, pic storage, MP3 storage, itunes docking, etc. CPU installation was easy and intuitive. Again I'm a newbie at this and everything installed successfully!!

Cons: Supplied directions where not very readable and in B&W, however, was able to access online directions from the web site.

Other Thoughts: Provides everything needed for a reliable desktop computer install at a good price.

3 out of 5 eggsGet What You Pay For

Pros: Decent board for the cost. Nothing great, certainly not an overclocker, but it works fine for a basic PC. For the kid whining about no dual channel support, do your homework, not Newegg's fault. Newegg has a link to the manufacturers website, download the manual and read it before you buy. Otherwise quit whining. Dual channel is overrated anyway.

Cons: None at this price.
