Foxconn's nForce4 based board brings nVIDIA quality to everyone at a value conscious price. The Socket 754 supports the Sempron and Athlon 64 processors.
Two PATA ports support up to 4 devices. There are 4 SATA ports that support RAID levels 0, 1, 0+1 and JBOD. You can also attach an external drive to one of the 4 USB 2.0 ports on the back panel or one of the up to 6 on the front.
FastEthernet keeps you attached to your network at maximum speed. A COAX S/PDIF out lets you play your music or movie audio track through a compatible home theater system.

Horrible shipped bios...
- Comments: This is my second encounter with the NF4K8AB-RS, and this time around it was a bad experience.
I built a machine for my fiance's brother and his machine with this motherboard worked flawlessly. With AGP being phased out, I decided to go with this board and go pci-express. The motherboard arrived fast, thanks to newegg and their awesome service, but the board itself was a pain and a half. First off, it would not reboot properly, or reset properly. A lot of the times I had to hold the power button down, and then power it back up after making bios changes, or even just checking stuff and exiting the bios. Finally got everything up and running, I go to install my video card drivers and my machine just reboots to a black screen. After it coming back up, I played some quake 4, it then did the same thing, rebooted to a black screen in the middle of a game.
I got fed up and decided to double check all my cables, all was well, I then checked the bios version that shipped with the motherboard.. March 2004 was the date on the bios. I then decided to update to the latest bios, which was a August 2005 release. After updating the bios my problems no longer exist.
Decent board for the price, but not good if your unexperienced, very good alternative if your on a budget and ARE experienced. I was very close to RMA'ing this board if the bios update did not fix my issues.
So - So
- Pros: It works just fine for basic needs, I updated the BIOS right away and have no problems with standard functionality (just using it for a file server).
- Cons: - Support is pretty poor. They don't answer question and just give you canned repsonses
- Cool and Quiet is not available - Use of little whizzy failure-prone chipset fan instead of a passive one which is quite sufficient.
- Other Thoughts: If you don't expect much, it will be just fine.

Winfast? Moar like Failfast, amirite?
- Pros: Lots of features for a 754 board. Cheap.
- Cons: Had to flash the bios when I first got it or else it would fail when I installed my video card. Bios remained unstable and then the board stopped working completely after a couple months.
- Other Thoughts: This board is made out of lose and fail. I guess you get what you pay for.
Piece of junk
- Pros: none
- Cons: didn't work, wouldn't recognize my hard drive or CDROM. There are better choices, look under motherboard/CPU combos. Also, wrong bios.
- Other Thoughts: had many other problems
NICE
- Pros: Cheap mobo if you got spare socket754 CPU dusting around. Setup went with ZERO problems everything is clear as it can be.
- Cons: Socket754 is totally dated but for basic use: internet, printing is just perfect.
- Other Thoughts: I really do not understand people who gave this mobo one star just because they expected performance of a Core 2 Duo or connected something wrong. In my comp. technitian life I installed hundreds of mobos and had ONLY 1(one) DOA board. So those of you who get 2nd or even 3rd DOA board maybe just do not have to be around any electrical/high tech stuff at all? :).
