Get unprecedented graphics capability with the G33M-S by Foxconn. This micro-ATX motherboard is based on Intel's G33 and ICH9R chipsets and ready to support Intel's latest socket LGA 775 processors including the 45nm architecture Quad-Core, Core 2 Extreme, Core 2 Duo CPU's in addition to Pentium chips with a front side bus of 1066 MHz which can be increased to 1333 MHz through overclocking.
Up to 8GB of DDR2 RAM can be installed with full dual channel support. Use the onboard Intel GMA 3100 video chipset or install a PCI Express x16 graphics card for enhanced performance. Onboard video processing is handled by the Intel GMA 3100 chipset. Additional graphics processing horsepower can be achieved with a PCI-Express 2.0 x16 card with the slot being able to mount a double-wide card. Included Intel Clear View Technology and easy-to-use Intel TV Wizard make this the ideal choice for a multimedia system. An additional PCIe and a pair of PCI slots add extra options for expanding your system.
Get eight channels of theater-quality HD sound from the Realtek ALC888 audio chipset. Transfer data from other networked computers at broadband speeds with the Gigabit Ethernet LAN or connect up to four 3Gb/s SATA 2 devices for high-speed data transfer rates and multiple possible RAID configurations. Six USB 2.0 ports offer nearly unlimited possibilities for peripherals.

Foxconn sabotages Linux ACPI
- Pros: /
- Cons: I was looking through the DSDT tables that this board's BIOS passes to the operating system, it sniffs and has different tables for XP/Vista, 2000, and Linux.
It directs Windows to the correct ACPI DSDT table, and redirects Linux to what can only be described as a sabotaged set of broken tables.
- Other Thoughts: I believe that Microsoft probably paid Foxconn to do this for them
Don't buy this to run Linux/Funky BIOS
- Pros: It does boot up.
- Cons: Weird ACPI issues with Linux and FreeBSD, suspend and hibernate do horrible things, BIOS setup has lots of spelling errors, BIOS updater for Windows is in "Engrish" not English, which was quite hilarious even though it made me think "Oh nuts, what have I done?", BIOS defaults fans to run at 100% speed all the time unless you set it to Automatic, and CPU will boot up underclocked unless you choose ACPI 2.0 or 3.0, I would really not recommend this board, it's way too buggy.
- Other Thoughts: I could not find a method of updating the BIOS from Linux or FreeBSD that I felt comfortable with, and would really rather not spend $100 on Vista or something to do that, I ended up grabbing an Evaluation Edition of Windows Server 2008, which the installer hung on until I went back into the BIOS and set it to ACPI 1.0, in other words I had to install an entire copy of Windows just to flash out some of the more heinous stuff that this board will put you through.

Motherboard does not meet specifications
- Pros: Many of the latest bells and whistles
- Cons: Foxconn advertises that this board is compliant with ACPI 1.0, 2.0, and 3.0. But it isn't. Instead of following the ACPI like they said, they wrote their own code that sniffs for the operating system in question. It specifically polls to see if the OS is Linux, and if it is, the motherboard fails in multiple ways.
Does not allow Linux to work
- Pros: It wasnt DOA
- Cons: The BIOS in this board will not allow Linux to work properly. Ubuntu crashes constantly for me. The BIOS also effects Windows, but not as much as it does Linux.
- Other Thoughts: When I asked Foxconn about this problem, I was told to not send them emails and that I was to buy Vista. This is unacceptable even if you do you Windows. I recommend a different board from a company with good customer service.
- Pros: It worked well with Vista, you get a lot for the price.
- Cons: However, I run Ubuntu. This board frizzles out on me and causes it to hang, apparently due to driver issues. I thought it was just my aging setup, but thankfully a fix has been found.
Price is kinda high for a motherboard with integrated graphics.
- Other Thoughts: My girlfriend bought me this board without knowledge, just something a friend of mine recommended to her when she was looking for. Didn't buy it from Newegg, but from a local Fry's. Will be returning it due to issues.
