2 out of 5 eggsArrgh!!!

Pros: It works

Cons: Before i bought this mobo, I had to assure myself this was the right choice because i am a gamer on a tight budget. I wanted to overclock my q6600. In the description on the page it said 1066 mhz to 1333 mhz stable, even a couple reviewers said it did just that. But to my suprise, I couldn't overclock past 2.6 ghz without me hetting a blue screen. I dont know, maybe i got too excited. But What do i exactly have to do to fix this!!!???? I did not buy this board to play on stock speeds

Other Thoughts: Heres my specs:
foxconn g41mxe
gigabyte gtx 560
g.skill ddr3 1333
465 watt power supply
core 2 quad q6600

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer
We apologize for the inconvenience. When overclock, you need to disable the cpu feature, such as C1E function and EIST function .Which item you have started to change it to a higher speed? Please adjust it little by little, do not change it in haste.More information ,Please submit your email to the link for overclocking .

4 out of 5 eggsFoxconn G41MXE

Pros: really inexpensive and offer's current gen memory (DDR3) support.

Cons: built using the ICH7 southbridge; not SSD/ACHI compatible.

Other Thoughts: I purchased this mobo as a budget upgrade for my older computers, as I'm unable to afford a full upgrade to a totally new processor and matching mobo. I was happy to find that this would support my existing Pentium dual E2220 proc and I would only have to upgrade to DDR3 RAM and a budget PCIe video card.

Unfortunately when I purchased this board I mistakenly assumed that it would fully support my brand new SSD (ACHI bios mode), and after much research (after the fact) I was able to confirm that the Intel ICH7 does not support this.

Other than the missing SSD support, I still like this board as I it allowed me to upgrade from my old computer running only 2Gb RAM, to 8GB; and I was able to upgrade to a newer model video card.

I'm using:

RAM: G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series Model: F3-12800CL8D-8GBXM (standard clocking)

Video: MSI NVIDIA GeForce GT 640 model:N640GT-MD1GD3

3 out of 5 eggsReally

Pros: cheap

Cons: old drivers

Other Thoughts: I think people should learn how to read. This particular socket type is old and the well is running dry for this type of motherboard. This is really a Mobo aimed at the end run during windows xp. I understand there are those who want to use this type of processor for a NAS box or home theater but really. Although this could make a suitable back up pc, this dog wont be hunting for to much longer. Upgrade to a newer socket type if you can as the support for these chipsets are at the end of there life cycle.

2 out of 5 eggsMiss information by NEWEGG

Pros: I don't know what to say my board isn't running yet.

Cons: Neweggs ad had a problem in that it states this board will run using a Pentium D. This is wrong. Check Foxconn's web site to find the list of valid cpu's. I didn't see any single core Pentium D processors listed so now I'm in the process of acquiring a core duo that will work.

Other Thoughts: Don't believe everything you read

Manufacturer Response:

This is a great feedback. You are correct. This board does not support Pent D processor. However, it does support Pentium Dual-core such as E2220, E5300, etc. Pent D is not the same as Pentium Dual-core.

5 out of 5 eggsReplaced an old board, works even better

Pros: I had to replace an old motherboard for an Intel core duo made back in 2006, it got burned from some static or surge while plugging in a cable.

I was weary at first because I never replaced any computer hardware device before and let alone a motherboard. But I was able to match up the CPU and memory spects with this board and thankfully it worked.

The instructions came in every language imaginable and had lots of big photos and diagrams, so it was relatively easy for me to figure out. Hardest part was the front panel lead connections. I connected it wrong at first and had to reconnect.

Any ways, everything works now, and the new board boots up even better than the one it replaced.

Cons: Two minor things, the photos in the instructions were rather tiny and hard to understand.

The FD cable slot could have been designed to be closer to the front panel instead of the back panel. But I guess we don't use floppy much any more, the computer I replaced the motherboard on had a floppy drive.

4 out of 5 eggsFoxconn G41MXE

Pros: Great price for an LGA 775 motherboard, very straightforward. Will accommodate longer video cards decently. Nice compact design.

Cons: My only complaint on this motherboard was there seem to be quite a bit of delay on file transfers and accessing files it seems to lag when you opened them quite a bit. Have not experienced this on other G41 based motherboards.

Other Thoughts: Be aware of the 8gig memory limitation of the G41 chipset.

1 out of 5 eggsfollow up to Foxcon response

Pros: none

Cons: all other

Other Thoughts: In response to Foxcon suggestions:
BIOS was upgraded to newest one, no improvement
As far as calling technical support:
1. I've been building computers for over 20 years now, I know a dud when I see one
2. Tech support is from 8:30 - 5:30, thanks but I work during those hours.
General observation. I'm sure in this price competitive business, it's cheaper for manufacturers to not test products and deal with relatively small numbers of returns. However this is short sighted. In this age of internet, negative reviews have big impact on purchasing decisions, so ultimately their sales will get hurt by using that business model.

3 out of 5 eggsStill trying to get it to work

Pros: Havent gotten to do much with it yet.

Cons: None verified yet. At least permanent ones. obviously if it doesnt boot the frist try it automatically becomes a con lol.

Other Thoughts: New build with a core 2 duo, 8gb of ram (2x 4gb sticks), radeon 5850, 575 watt ps.

First power on. The power light blinked every second. Looked up the code via manual on foxconn website. Found it to be memory related.

After research. Others have had this issue. It is related to the bios not liking 4gb memory sticks. With both 4gb sticks the power light blinked continuously and after putting the speaker on it simply yelled at me continuously. i tried using 1 4 gig stick. and 1 8 gig stick. (all i had on hand) with 1 4 gig stick the power light stayed solid and no yelling from the speaker.

The memory is patrot gamer 2 series 1333 8gb. This particular model is not on the supported memory list. But 2 other 8 gig sets are so i figured it would probably work.

Tomorrow i will borrow one of my friends 2 gig ddr 3 sticks. and see if i cant get it to boot so that i can update the bios which has fixed the problem for many. I will edit review later to inform buyers of any findings. And if i ever got the computer to boot.

1 out of 5 eggsAbsolute garbage

Pros: None

Cons: Not working

Other Thoughts: Will boot about 20% off the time, for no apparent reason. Changed power supplies etc. no improvement.
Will not support discrete graphics card in PCIE slot, tried 3 different ones.
Should've listened to other reviewers. Don't bother, it's a time waster. Now I'm out shipping cost both ways.

Manufacturer Response:
