1 out of 5 eggsDOA

Pros: Features

Cons: Features did not function

Other Thoughts: Board was DOA with no visible signs of defect. Newegg was far less than helpful.

3 out of 5 eggsGood board for money/features but horrible support

Pros: 4 Dimm slots

Full UEFI support (after bios BA6F1P06)
such as fast boot,, secure boot and ability to turn off all legacy bios features, 3tb+ booting ect...

Supports Ivy Bridge (PCIe 3.0 with ivy bridge processor)

USB 3.0

1xSata 3.0

Price point for functionality.

Cons: I bought this board beginning of December 2012 and when I first got the board it was on bios (BA6F1P04) when downloading drivers and going to collect the firmware for updating bios the site showed "Release new BIOS, support windows 8 BA6F1P06" but all links were broken and I eventually found it and applied it and have been happy with the board and the features added to the bios. Now it is a year later and I'm doing annual maintenance (firmware updates, opening up case cleaning it, and updating to windows 8.1) I visit their site and there is a "Release new BIOS. BA6F1P07" shown so I download it and recreate dos USB thumb drive, disable bios protect settings in the bios, and boot to the thumb drive and attempt to flash it I get a "3 - Error: ROM file size does not match existing BIOS size." and after a few back and forths with foxconn I'm not getting any resolution and they have so far pointed me back to the same broken fines, told me to do the same things I've already done over and over and their last reply is more ore less them saying they give up.

Other Thoughts: Board works good for a basic board and if their support was a little more knowledgeable and their bios releases were more readily available I would have no problems recommending this board.

I have specifically deduct stars and will not consider Foxconn again for low budget workstations/office desktop machines because long term serviceability of the board is in question for example "what if they release a bios that fixes something important?" well chances are you won't be able to find (dead links) or it will not work and their support seems unknowledgeable on helping you resolve issues in a timely manner. (FYI I consider long term as up to 3 years assuming there is no hardware defect that causes you to replace it prematurely)

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer
Thank you for your valuable feedback and sorry for the incovenience. Before flashing BIOS ROM, you need to set ME jumper to pins 2-3 first. After flashing bios ,please set ME jumper to pins 1-2 .we have setup the same board here but we were able to flash from P06 to P07. We can also just mail you the BIOS chips. Please provide us with your shipping address.
Best Regards

3 out of 5 eggsMeh indeed

Pros: Lots of supposed options

Cons: Terrible BIOS, no way to control memory settings

Other Thoughts: I really wanted to like this board, to the point that I re-ordered it after returning the first defective one. On paper, it looks like the best bang for your money, and all I ever needed in a budget build. Alas, just as the previous reviewer, I found the BIOS to be a complete mess, full of cryptic acronyms and absolutely NO WAY to control some of the vital settings. My CPU is an Ivy Bridge i5, and my memory is ddr3 1600, in fact, I tried two different sets from G. Skill and Corsair, in dual and single channel mode just to make sure, and no matter what, it defaults to 1333, and there's nothing you can do about it, which is a bit odd in 2013, to say the least. It is nice seeing Foxconn support responding to posts here, just keep in mind that people who buy motherboards to build custom systems are usually technically savvy enough to post relevant info. This could be a terrific product, if only paired with a decent modern bios, but judging by the fact that the last update is from 12/12/12, it's likely to be on its way out.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer
We apologize for the inconvenience. Please enter bios setup and find "F-center ",select "Penformance Tuning "--"North Bridge Configuration",please set "Performance Memory Profiles"-manual,then you can set"Memory Mutiplier"-16,please press F4 to save and exist.
Best regards,
Foxconn support team.

3 out of 5 eggsNice board but support is nonexistent

Pros: Great basic board and features.
Ethernet, integrated video (if using a cpu with integrated gpu), supports quick boot and secure boot (features require either video card with uefi gop firmware or using the integrated gpu on cpu), 1 sata 3 port, pcie x16 slot and 4 memory dimms

Cons: More PCI then I need and can't use the 1x slot unless I use a single slot video card but I knew that going in.

I sent an e-mail to their customer support asking about some features of their bios but haven't heard back from them in 3+ weeks. I did eventually resolve my own problem on the internet but a simple 1 or 2 line reply from their customer support could have saved me few hours of banging my head against the wall.

Other Thoughts: I would buy board again if needed and would recommend it to anyone with some experience building computers and trouble shooting skills. How ever the few gotcha's I ran across and lack of customer support would discourage me from recommend this product to a novice

2 out of 5 eggsMeh

Pros: The motherboard is functional and mostly does what it says it does. It was fairly easy to install and connect everything to it.

Cons: The motherboard has a fairly large number of flaws, mostly software based.

The BIOS is a total mess. It is next to impossible to find things and it is missing a number of important options. The BIOS defaults to not supporting 3GB hard drives and the option to enable it is difficult to find.

Enabling UEFI mode is non-inutitive (you select it via the boot device order of all things).

The biggest issue I have is that the BIOS recognizes my PC1600 RAM as PC1333 and has no options to override the timing or data rates!

Also be warned that this motherboard does not support 5.1 or 7.1 speaker systems. I read the description of 6 channels figured it did support 5.1 and didn't look at the picture to see that the 6 channels include the line out and microphone in ports.

Other Thoughts: There are better motherboards out there, at similar price points. I would suggest finding another model.

Manufacturer Response:

Memory controller is now integrated with your processor. So please check your processor spec. Are you using Ivy Bridge processor or Sandy Bridge? Ivy Bridge processor will allow you to run at 1600.

As for audio, it does support 5.1 channel. You need to use Line-IN, Line-out, and MIC to setup your 5.1 channel speaker set. This is how it is being setup on any boards.

Best regards,
Foxconn support team.
