Great Company - Broken Motherboard (i.e. bad memory slot)
- Pros: EVGA is a great company, I've done a ton of business with them and they are truly a pleasure to deal with. I would rate their customer service up there with Costco.
- Cons: One of the two DIMM slots was bad.
- Other Thoughts: I love EVGA video cards; it is the only brand I use for video cards. I have always only used ASUS motherboards; however I decided to try an EVGA motherboard because of how much I love EVGA customer support and the very high quality of video cards. Needless to say I've returned this defective EVGA motherboard and replaced it with an ASUS equivalent. It may be random bad luck for EVGA on this one, but because of this experience I am going to continue to stick with ASUS. Note that ASUS has EXTREMELY poor customer service in comparison to EVGA, and I would highly prefer to do business with EVGA.
Horrible Experience
- Pros: None Yet
- Cons: This Board Literally Fried my brand new Ram (tested in another system and stickers melted) and Possibly fried a new Core 2 Duo Processor(can not test yet). I had to RMA and can only get a replacement and spin the roulette wheel on another $60 worth of ram to see if it gets fried as well. It was installed correctly as well.
- Other Thoughts: Costly Mistake, especially if my processor is fried. I really Hope the return Board I get is Functional. I know the Vendor will not pay to replace my Ram and Processor and Highly Doubt EVGA will either.
Good mATX Board
- Pros: Great mATX board. NVIDIA chipset runs most games smoothly on Medium High to High and will get 30-40 FPS. I'm going to note that I mostly play simulation games. The built in audio works perfectly, and I can use my front jacks for one audio stream and rear jacks for the other, which really makes good use for mixing and cueing while being a DJ.
Can accept almost any dual & quad core Pentium CPU, which made the CPU selection a lot easier.
- Cons: The "PC Health & Status" window in the BIOS keeps freezing every time I go to it. Kind of a pain since there really is no motherboard monitoring system that I can use with this motherboard. Not a big issue though, the computer doesn't run hot at all from the very little readings I get.
- Other Thoughts: This is a good board for those just getting into the Intel Core 2 Duo age, or for those looking for a good HTPC board. I will probably have to buy a separate video card in the near future, since this chipset and built-in video can't handle everything on High settings.
I'd love to see a DVI or some sort of TV-Out port built in on the low end EVGA mainboard, but I'm not complaining.
