Almost a great board.
- Pros: - Lots of options in BIOS for overclocking
- Many extras (dual lan, firewire connectors, etc.)
- Cons: - CPU socked it located high on the board preventing installation of large heat sinks (Thermaltake Max Orb won't fit in my mid case)
- the nortbridge fan is exhausting the hot air directly on my video card. I wish they let it blow either left or right instead of straight down. - Can only insert the single card into the 1st slot (the one closest to the nortbridge...) If it was possible to move the card lower I think the heat issue would be somewhat alleviated.
- Other Thoughts: Decent board, except for the couple of things mentioned above. Because of the heat issue I took one egg off.
The nTune software is a bit glichy too, caused my comp to crash a couple of times.
great board great price
- Pros: Great board, i got it in a combo with the e8500. this was my first build. at first i experienced the automatic ff post. but after i went through and performed all the procedures on the manufacture's website listed in their knowledge base, it worked. (it turned out that the board was shorting in my case because it was working fine in the plastic clam-shell it came in). oh i especially like the angled northbridge because i was concerned that i would not be able to use ruby orb sink((120mm fan spinning in a plane parallel to the board) (lots of people complained that it could not fit on their board). but do to the awesome gangster-lean the northbride has you can put on a big fat cpu cooler.
but i fixed the problem and now it is smooth sailing.
lifetime warranty and 24/7 phone customer support were enough to keep me loyal, but when you add in the 90 day step-up program, there is no reason to go with a company other than evga.
thanks for the sweet deal newegg!!
- Cons: .........uhhh....... i cant have 2 in my rig?
- Other Thoughts: e8500 @ 3.4
this board thermaltake ruby orb gtx 280 sc (evga) (waiting for my second one) ultra x3 1000w psu
- Pros: Great board. Easy setup, no problems at all. Northbridge cooler and fan are a great idea. 6 SATA ports are great, and the 6 USB ports with an option of 10 is great. Tech support and knowledge base is also superb. Bought another board for my 2nd rig since ABIT has closed it doors.
- Cons: None
