- Pros: Amazing capabilities. EVGA customer service is that of which I have never encountered. they walked me through the entire setup and diagnosed any of my problems (most were due to inexperience as a builder.)
- Cons: Requires a large power supply. Not that this is really a con, it just goes to show that this MOBO is extremely powerful.
- Other Thoughts: System specs:
2 EVGA 9800GTX+ superclocked running SLI intel core 2 duo 3.2 GHz 8gb kingston hyper X ddr3 PC3 (16000) 1tb western digital HDD 1000W powerbird modular PSU
solid
- Pros: I'm using XP pro.sp2 for now.Do not need IDE to boot up like a past review said, sata drive worked perfect.I have a mid tower Thermaltake Tsunami sure if I had full tower sata ports might have been easier to get to but w/smaller hands if I had a kid w/anti-static gloves to put the sata in I would have.Black sata are southbridge, red are JMicron's(jmb362).Fan control is great in bios if you use 4 wire connect w/ your NON-STOCK heatsink and fan.I used ASUS V52 w/back X bracket w/metal srcews before I put board in case W/Asus stock(pre-applied) thermal paste 2 weeks later cpu never goes over 38c and board never over 32c.My on board sound worked fine.
- Cons: none yet.Go to EVGA site thru Newegg and what memory EVGA recommends for this board!Played thru W@War solo on Balanced mode worked great.(in my opinion if you don't have to use plastic push pin system for your heatsink and fan DON'T!).
- Other Thoughts: Crucial Ballistix DDR3 2000 BL2KIT12864BE2009(if only 2gigs use black memory slots)I'll fill purple in when I get cash for OS64,Intel E8500,ASUS V52 92mm,2gigs memory,WD1002FBYS RE3 1TB,SILVERSTONE OP1000-E 1000W,BYTECC Black 1.44MB Internal Floppy Drive Model BT-145,EVGA 512-P3-N975-AR GeForce 9800 GT,LITE-ON iHAS422-08.Have not had money for sli to test:(
Nice Motherboard for a E8600 Cpu
- Pros: Can run Nvidia SLI ( 3 ) if you want to go overboard.
- Cons: None
- Other Thoughts: Left the orginial bios, DZ13s, from what I've researched about this board, they are the most stable. Have the E8600 cpu running at 4.00 with just a slight voltage boost. Kingston HyperX DDR 3 - 1800 works great, synced at 1800 in bios. Like others have mentioned, the bios is a little bit technical to navigate, but you can use Dummy OC to boost up your cpu, but that raises the voltages too high.
