4 out of 5 eggsWorth it

Pros: board is very stable, runs great. The BIOS reset button does not affect your RAID settings (most nerve-wracking event ever is pushing that button without knowing it's affect on RAID). The BIOS settings are very generous in options. Overclocking is easy as the auto-voltage option works very well for basic overclocking.

Cons: the overclocking tutorial available in the EVGA forums is out-dated and may cause harm to more recent processors (due to voltage settings.) The RAID 0+1 only supports exactly 4 drives. This is not documented anywhere I could find and lead to me purchasing 6 drives expecting to use a RAID 0+1 only to be disappointed and have to reconfigure my RAID plans. (the RAID issue is what caused the loss of egg number 5)

Other Thoughts: all in all, I love this board, and will probably be sticking to EVGA because of it.

1 out of 5 eggsWorst motherboard ever

Pros: Nice looking motherboard. Nice I/O shield plate.
Worked for about 14 hours.

Cons: After 14 hours, shuts down on its own. (see Other thoughts)

Other Thoughts: After 14 hours, shuts down on its own. Boot back up, no USB. Remove the motherboard and try it on a barebone setup, can't boot because of blue flashing light indicating something wrong with the power input. Try another PSU, same thing. RMA the motherboard, same thing. RMA again, same freaking thing !. Try another set of CPU/RAM/GFX off my friends comp, same thing.

After 6 RMA's, 3 months and over 100 $ in shipping costs, they send me a FTW3 that actually works.

I must say that the customer service of EVGA was very good. But, if your products fail, even the best customer service won't do nothing about it.

Moral of this story ? Do alot of research before buying ANY computer component.

1 out of 5 eggsDouble boot

Pros: It has a warranty.
Looks nice
OCs decently.

Cons: -Double-boot with Virtualization enabled.
-Northbridge heat sinks are ridiculously large and run hot

Other Thoughts: Worst component of my build - I was suckered into the rebate.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi,

The double boot with VT is enabled is a normal occurrence for this product.

If the double boot is not ideal, you can try BIOS 49 which does not have a double boot with VT.

Thanks,
Jacob

5 out of 5 eggsEVGA Customer NO-service

Pros: I really loved this board. It had everything I needed.

Cons: EVGA Customer Service. I returned this board for an RMA and somehow it was damaged in transit or whatever. Of course damage voids the warrenty, therefore I am out of a motherboard.

Other Thoughts: WILL NEVER BUY EVGA PRODUCT AGAIN. Thanks a lot EVGA.

1 out of 5 eggsBad memory sticks

Pros: nothing exceptional to mention

Cons: defective after 3 months of use

Other Thoughts: bought this in june 2010, three months into it and memory slots read only 4 of my 6gb of ram. tried finding a solution for two months. turns out it's a pretty common defect. evga will not pay fully for freight. returning it now for fix, still waiting after it

5 out of 5 eggsGreat board

Pros: I've had this board for almost a year now and it's been great. I used it as the basis for my first build and I'm still happy with the choice. It will last for years to come.

1 out of 5 eggsVery Disappointed

Pros: Great board with lots of features and over clocking ability. EVGA support tech was very friendly and helpful.

Cons: I received motherboard defective. The front panel usb didn't work, and memory slots 1 and 2 don't work. EVGA charges you $30 to have ship you a replacement, and then have you ship the defective board back with prepaid shipping labels. Most companies do this for free plus this was their fault, not mine. This was the first time I have ever splurged on parts and it backfired in my face. I have always had good luck with cheap parts, but I went with a more expensive brand since this was my first enthusiast PC build. What a disappointment.

Other Thoughts: I really feel that I shouldn't have had to pay $30 to have the mobo sent to me first so that I wouldn't have to be without my computer for however many weeks.

4 out of 5 eggsDecent, Not Steller

Pros: The board is quiet and functional.

Stays cool under full loads.

Easy to clean.

Cons: Placement of the SATAs and PATA/IDE is bad if you are using a small case. Shouldn't be a problem in a mid-tower++. You will have to remove your GPU if you want to change/install additional drives.

Other Thoughts: While many don't use IDE, some of us still do. The board BIOS makes it hard to use IDE CD-ROM drives. Getting the system to recognize, let alone boot from a CD-ROM drive is a lesson in patience and tenacity.

Tech support is the reason this board gets 4 and not 3 stars. Great EVGA support. Call, 5 minutes in you get an intelligent person who speaks clear english.

4 out of 5 eggsStill quality

Pros: Quality product with great customer support. Works as intended without the dreaded 66% of RAM detected common with this chipset and windows. I recently did a build using the upgraded version of this mb (the ForTheWin)for a friend that is promting this review. If the price between the two is a real deal breaker you're still getting an awesome product, I'd personally shell out the little extra for the newer bells and whistles.

Cons: THE NB GETS WAY, WAY HOTTER THAN IT SHOULD. I'd recommend installing something besides the very cool looking yet still ineffective HS that EVGA has given this board.

No USB 3.0 (Granted the tech isn't there to support taking the standard consure price thresehold but it will be with time)

No SATA 3.0, this is pretty big as the speeds offered by the newer tech is quite quantifiable.

Other Thoughts: Great MB, just plain great. Don't buy it, shell out the extra for the EVGA F T W.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome

Pros: Great board. Easily allowed me to OC an Intel 920 from 2.67 GHz to 4.2 GHz. Supports Quad SLI very well too (dual 9800 GX2's)

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: EVGA X58, Intel i7 920 2.67 GHz, 6 GB DDR3 1600, 1200 Watt PSU, 2x EVGA GeForce 9800 GX2 SSO SLI, 2x 250 GB 7200 RPM RAID 0, 500GB 7200RPM
