5 out of 5 eggs5 years after

Pros: Perfect mobo for it's class. It's been working flawlessly for over 5 years now.

Cons: They shipped it with bad SATA cables! Drove me nuts for a year or so.
The symptoms were fairly frequent BSOD and inability to install Windows. after I figured out it was the cables....never had any more problems.

Other Thoughts: I know I should lower my rating because of the bad cables but I'm reviewing the mobo not the cables.

1 out of 5 eggsEVGA let me down again

Pros: mb temp display, decent overclocking

Cons: cheap NB paddle fan doesnt work well, fills with dust fast. Vreg runs super hot. Even put a 80mm fan blowing towards it, still peaks around 70c. plug is so close to vreg, I thought I maybe loosened it. Removed vreg, cleaned surfaces, applied Artic silver 5, lowered temps 2-3c. Still peaks over 70c.

Had issues with SLI and Memory low gap. On auto pc wouldnt boot.

Had issues with vdroop working backwards. it compensates when turned off, does nothing when turned on.

dead dimm slots #5 and #6.

bios has no memtest or memory test features. also no place to set boot display duration in case I wanted to view post tests or bios version. really out dated bios and software compared to most. other than the overclocking, I give this mobo a 8/10 on features, 0/10 on realiability and ease of use.

Other Thoughts: Ive worked with many motherboards and overclocking for decades. My first EVGA board had decent bells and whistles, but the hardware overall is junk. Such high temps and passive fans needed on NB? vreg so hot cause I switched ram from 1300mhz to 1600mhz and 15.v to 1.65?

EVGA has horrible customer support and loses my tickets all the time also. This is my last EVGA product EVER.

5 out of 5 eggsSill Going Strong

Pros: About 4 Years old now, and still going strong, currently contemplating between replacing entire system for a complete over-haul (PCIEX 3.0 would be nice) , or just upgrading best I can with what this board has to offer.
Great Board ... been OC'D since day 1, and rarely has problems.

Cons: None , this board performed its duty and beyond.... when the time comes to retire it, it will make a nice over-powered home server^^

Other Thoughts: Wish I could slap Pciexpress 3.0 on it to get the biggest bang possible out of PcIexpress 3.0 video cards.... but games aren't that demanding to really warrant the upgrade just yet.

5 out of 5 eggsMines still trucking along with upgrades

Pros: Just wanted to state and Thank EVGA for recently personaly helping with my upgrade. I upgraded to a 24g memory kit and a 2.6g evga 570Hd .. needless to say after a quick call to evga they sent me a new bios for my memory upgrade and it's been stable ever sence .. .i run quad screen set up 3 in a trip screen + a 62 inch tv ... this board regulary handles over 140 proccesses and i make it run multi games at same time / multi os's (emulated os in a os) with 30+ webpages and so on ... i mean seriously .. it's the stuff of dreams a pc that moves at the speed of your thoughts...

thx again EVGA

Cons: the only thing i don't like about this mobo is the north bridge fan died on me like 6 months in , it seems to stay stable so it's not a huge deal but i sure would love a mini replacement

Other Thoughts: northbridge fan died.

4 out of 5 eggsBetter Late than Never

Pros: Feature set (for when it was released); Looks (I like muted colors and hate bright, gae, color schemes).

Cons: Northbridge cooler + Fan totally gets in the way of a large HSF...I am running a CoolerMaster Hyper 212+ and it is bumping hard against them and the heatsink for the voltage regulators (?) next to the CPU.

Other Thoughts: For whatever reason, I cannot get some of my DVD's to boot (Win 7 Pro 64 OEM specifically)...dunno if I'm looking at a DVD drive/port failure or something with the DVD itself. Also wish that the 1st PCIe slot didn't block the only PCIx1 slot.

That being said, I'm looking to upgrade to a newer 1366 EVGA board with a newer, more modern feature set. Sticking with EVGA because I love speaking and writing to actual English-speaking Americans and having a very easy to navigate (and written in English, not some poorly translated) website.

4 out of 5 eggsNo problems here

Pros: Lots of options, easy over clocking

Cons: not 3x 16 Sli but instead 2x16 and 1x 8

Other Thoughts: I've had this board for almost a year and a half and it runs 24/7. On board RAID works well, no problems with 1600 memory. Overall it's been stable and reliable running my games and apps.

1 out of 5 eggsDO NOT BUY

Pros: TONS of features... but...

Cons: no use if board is buggy, tech support won't help or come up with a solution. Board refuses to function with RAID without pooping and even ruined data on my drives, also has other issues with anything connected via SATA...

despite this, EVGA refused to refund or even to exchange the board. I never had an issue with an EVGA product until now. I've had a nightmare of a issue dealing with EVGA's warranty customer service reps. They just keep insisting it's not 'their' board that's acting up. Anyways, this is how you lose a customer for good and this is my fair warning... BUYER BEWARE...

Other Thoughts: Good board, but dont get it from EVGA, try a diff manufacturer IMHO.

Manufacturer Response:

My name is Matthew and I am one of the assistant products managers at EVGA. I am Sorry to hear of the issues you've experienced with the board. If you could please contact me directly so I can work with you on this matter I would appreciate it. My e-mail is

5 out of 5 eggsGood board

Pros: Good board and everything is spaced out nicely. It also looks pretty nice. I have been running this board for both casual and semi-hardcore gaming for over a year and it still works fine without any Blue screens or other annoying errors. On average this board has been used for approx 16 hours a day for over a year.

Cons: As other reviewers said the lots could have been spaced out a bit more to accommodate a video card without having a slot blocked. Installing a larger CPU cooler can pose a problem if you lack case room.

Other Thoughts: I haven't had any problems with it recognizing my triple channel DDR3 1600 R.A.M so I cant list that as a con. However it does not mean that the board isn't picky about its R.A.M.

4 out of 5 eggsGood for a year

Pros: Okay board worked great, great phone support. Everything is spaced out perfectly.

Cons: Down side if you use a large cpu cooler it will be hard to plug in cpu fan or 8pin power if you have big hands.
Died after a yr and half of good service.
When a Video card is used it does cover a pc slot which most people won't use but I would have liked to. The pci or express slots could be spaced apart more.

Other Thoughts: After board died, called support 3 times then was able to get a rma. They wanted a bios update, check a different cpu and still board was bad. But got Rma'd in less then 10 minutes on the 3rd call. They didn't pay for shipping so I did lose money. The 2yr warranty really helped out because I would had to get a new board if it wasn't for that extra year warranty they offer when you register before 30 days.

2 out of 5 eggs

Pros: When I bought it, it *looked* like one of the few good i7 boards

Cons: -Since day one the board has refused to read my 1600 DDR3 as such, and runs it at 10xx. Supposedly this is now a known issue with my particular Corsair RAM
- After a couple months my EVGA vid card would cause a system crash unless it was in the bottom PCIe slot. Because it's on the bottom, this slot has the least air around it, and now my card runs hot
-Now, the board will intermitantly refuse to boot. the only way to fix this is to remove the battery on the board (resetting CMOS by using the on-board button doesn't cut it)

Other Thoughts: Before this board, I thought of EVGA as a pretty upstanding company. But this board has given me nothing but trouble with a configuration that should be relatively common.
