5 out of 5 eggsIt was a good ride while it lasted.

Pros: The board ran like a champ! The onboard fault code LED is a big help when problems come up and having power/reset buttons on the board was nice as well.

Cons: No life time warranty. After 5 years of solid almost daily use it has finally died. *sigh*

Other Thoughts: I'm going to try to find a similar board since my other components are still working. EVGA if possible.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Mobo Good Price

Pros: This mobo is great, easiest comp build I have ever had and everything went together fast and quickly with no problems. Very...Very easy to OC and fine tune with this MOBO as the bios is great but also there is an included tool that lets you fine tune from inside windows! Also MoBo has a few little features that make it stand out one being an LED indicator built into the MoBo that gives numbers that correspond to why you might not be posting or any other array of problems making troubleshooting (which I didnt have to do) easy. Also has an external Cmos Reset button by the connections that prevents you from having to take your whole case apart to reset the Cmos. MoBo also has onboard power off and reset buttons for testing/troubleshooting without case hooked up. MoBo also has 3 on board case fan plugs and the CPU cooler pulg meaning you fan hungry people out there dont have to get as many Molex adapters.

Cons: Only Con I had was that as with most of the EVGA x- 58 boards out there there isnt allot of space for a big cooler so if your CPU cooler doesnt lift of the board before there is a fan or heatsink then it might not fit between the chipset and the memory, the stock Intel cooler just barely fi, this is a minor issue and not worth losing an egg.

Other Thoughts: MoBo has LOTS of USB ports and even comes with an adapter that fits into one of the rear case slots to add even more. MoBo also has good onboard sound and really good onboard Lan. DOcumentation on EVGA website and newegg specs are vauge but let it be known that this Mobo only has one X16 PCI express slot and that if you SLI you will be doing 2 x8 slots I mention this becuase some boards have dual X16 SLI slots but this is not one not a big deal but could be if thats what you thought you were getting. Overall really great and easy to install board, made brand new computer in about 4 hours from boxes to windows installed like I said smothest assembly of a brand new comp ive ever had. Also anyone who is saying this MoBo is unstable doesnt know the correct procedures to making it work right as I had no trouble getting the MoBO to do exactly what i wanted it to.

1 out of 5 eggsWould avoid.

Pros: Can't say any.

Cons: Way too many problems with it. It's very unstable.

EVGA customer service is rude and doesn't help when you email them.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello,

Please email me at Srobb@evga.com I would like to work with you directly to assist with your many listed issues.

thank you
Shannon

3 out of 5 eggsGreat Board, Some Reservations...

Pros: First time building a gaming rig.

- Audio is great
- Lights and digital readouts are great for trouble shooting.
- Tons of slots, SATA ports
- Looks great, easy to navigate
- Bios works pretty well (manually set your V/MHz of your RAM! Come on folks...)
- Can control a good number of fans
- processor install was a breeze (i7-930)
- Got it for a great price (1366 boards generally cost an arm and a leg)
- south bridge heat sink is low profile and stays out of the way of your video card.
- Water blocks are available for less than 150 dollars that cover the processor, NB, and even the SB.

Cons: - Had to remove north and south bridge heat-sinks to remove and correct the horrible thermal paste job.
- North bridge temps are still 52-62 degrees under hardly any load with the thermal paste issue resolved and 2 small fans mounted directly to the north bridge heat-sink. (no overclocking required! LOL)
- USB parts and i/o panel are kind flimsy. Still functional though.

Other Thoughts: My first higher-end gaming build and I have had mixed feelings regarding this board. It works well, the games look great, but the horrible thermal paste job has me questioning the rest of the craftsmanship.

The NB heat sink looks great, but it doesn't work that well. I have fans mounted on it, fresh thermal paste, but I'm still nervous about ever putting the screws to this system.

My build:

i7-930
GTX 400 Series Video Card
OCZ RAM 1600 MHZ (8-8-8-24) (1.65V)
XFX 650 Watt PSU
WIN 7
WD-Caviar Black 640GB

4 out of 5 eggsIt is what it is

Pros: The error code LED and power buttons on the MB are great for trouble shooting.

Cons: Runs my memory at 1033 instead of 1600. The 90degree SATA ports are a hassle. I don't know why people like these it just makes things harder to plug into it.

Other Thoughts: I have to look further into this memory thing, it may be due to the i7-920 chip rather than the MB

4 out of 5 eggsCheck your GPU cards for dimensions

Pros: Nice looking board that is compatible with a lot of ram and processor choices among all the price ranges.

Cons: This board has a heat sink off the side off of the first two PCIE slots which did not allow me to install my GTX 260 video card. I had to go with the third slot so now my video card is resting tightly against my power/reset/HDD LED connectors as well as making routing my sata power cables to my HDD and DVD-ROM awkward.

This board is advertised as being three way SLI capable but with certain cards it will be physically impossible due to the heat sink by the PCIE slots.

Other Thoughts: I like the board and its working fine but I would probably not build with it again unless this part was specifically asked for.

I love the EVGA brand for their excellent support and high quality products but was a little disappointed with this motherboard.

2 out of 5 eggsOK board. Useless rebate offers.

Pros: Board is OK so far. Pay attention to memory voltage - I found it defaulted to significantly higher than spec.

Cons: Yes, I'm panning the product because I was denied the rebate. I qualified for it, and submitted documentation as requested. Assume the rebate offer is worthless. If you do this, you may find other boards represent better value.

3 out of 5 eggsMediocre quality, tech support not what it used to be

Pros: Stable OC on a 920 to 3.3 GHz at stock voltage settings with power saving features still enabled

Looks good behind a case window

Cons: SmartFan controllers do not work, period

Flaky USB - iPod may or may not be recognized coming out of sleep based on the mood of the motherboard that day. Running a wireless mouse battery charger on Turbo mode causes entire USB system to shut down at random

Something on the motherboard makes a screaming noise playing GTR Evolution

Other Thoughts: Back in the good old days if you had a problem with an eVGA product you called their office and talked to a guy who knew what he was talking about and they'd cross ship a replacement for free if there was a problem.

Now, SmartFan doesn't work and all I can get is email support with some guy working from a script telling me to reformat my hard drive and reinstall the OS, even though that has nothing to do with BIOS fan control. Their stellar offer if wiping out my OS and programs doesn't work is to pay shipping and wait for two weeks with no motherboard for them to send a replacement after inspecting the returned board.

I used to buy eVGA because they stood by their customers - no longer.

5 out of 5 eggsGood board for a good price.

Pros: The first board I recieved was DOA. Got the new board with in a week, and it works great. It also looks really nice in the case.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Usually you get what you pay for. I think I got a lil bit extra with this board.
