5 out of 5 eggsSolid Mobo

Pros: Excellent amount of features, power buttons on the mobo itself made it easy to test before putting in case. this was a replacement for a dead GB mobo and it is much better. the pcie 16x slots are placed perfectly. This has been running now for 9 months with no problems.

Cons: wish it came with acc but i knew that when i was buying.

Other Thoughts: bought the extra year coverage just in case very much worth it seeing how i paid much less for a new board with less features.

4 out of 5 eggsSo far so good!

Pros: 3 PCIe ports. My last motherboard (ASUS P6X58D Premium) had three as well but the third was so low on the board that with a full tower you couldn't run SLI in slots 1 and 3. Purchased this board as a replacement so my two graphics cards wouldn't be right next to each other.

Works as advertised - I was really concerned based on all the negative reviews, but the fact it has 6 DIMM slots for RAM, 6 USB ports, 2 USB 3 ports, 2 Intel Gigabit ethernet ports made it a nice upgrade for my rig. No problems so far even though it is refurb'd.

As another pro, when I upgraded from my last mobo, the BIOS on this one is slightly more advanced and customizable. For whatever reason my last mobo wanted to run my RAM at 1066Mhz instead of 1600Mhz, but that was much easier to fix on this EVGA mobo.

Cons: No major cons so far.

The one minor con I have is that the pin slots for your PWR, PWR reset, PLED, etc. was really tough to do right. Not a whole lot of room for your hand, but not problematic enough to warrant a lower rating.

Other Thoughts: If you are replacing your old mobo, BE SURE TO READ THE FORUMS. I replaced my old mobo with this one thinking my computer would be able to boot up fine. Boy, was I wrong. Windows Seven Forums was infinitely helpful for getting me up and running in the least amount of time possible.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks well

Pros: Worked on first boot. Had to adjust a few settings for stability and to match installed components. Using for a media center which may be overkill but I had a spare processor that needed a home. I used the onboard display to monitor temps which after a week I noticed were high, but after some additional voltage tweaks I was able to lower the temp.

Cons: Nervous about a refurb but those fears were unfounded. No cons beside heat generation.

Other Thoughts: Recommended at this price point definitely. I may even swap this out for the rampage extreme I use because it has USB 3 and 2 Sata 6 ports but until I get a sata 3 SSD I may hold off. Specs on Sata 3 versus two don't really warrant the need to change. I've purchased about 6 refurbs from Newegg with only one dud. I'm glad they make this stuff available because who wants to spend 200.00 on obsolete technology.

5 out of 5 eggsgreat board

Pros: Works as it should. north bridge can get pretty hot but this is true for most x58 boards.

Cons: whish refurbished items came with some accessories like the SLI bridges since you dont get those with the video cards.

Other Thoughts: got this because my 3 year old gigabyte mobo died on me after connecting a bad printer...guess it fried it somehow O.o. love the LED lights on it and the small LCD? that shows the temperature and error codes if any.

3 out of 5 eggsRead Description

Pros: Okay so the reason why I gave it 3 eggs even though the motherboard came in dead. When the motherboard came in and I had issues with the memory slots and the pci express 2.0 slots so I RMA'd it. First of all it took 1 week for them to figure things out and then finally start the RMA process. Once the RMA process started they said that I physically damaged it and that they wouldn't do anything to help me and referred me to EVGA. So then I waited for a whole another week with about 4 phone calls to figure out what happened to my motherboard....

See other thoughts for more.....

Cons: Once again, dead and had to RMA and wait for a while.

Other Thoughts: OKAY so I sent the motherboard to EVGA and they told me that they would have to charge me a fee for the damaged board. But I talked with a RMA support rep and they said that since I claimed that the motherboard came damaged, they would waive all damage fees for me.

This is the only reason why I would want to give 3 stars for what EVGA has done

Manufacturer Response:

Hello,

I am glad to hear our RMA department was able to work with you.

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: 24hr pros that try to help you has been the only plus.
Otherwise NONE!!! 1st board junk, bad VRM according to mfg call in to try to get the second one to work, gave error code FF from the first press of the power button.
Second board JUNK..... error 10 and boot loop party.
At least the second would let me into the bios after CMOS reset.

Cons: These boards are junk, 2 in a row that won't work, if you get one that will work just pray it will stay that way. Odds are you will get one that will not work.

Other Thoughts: Takes 2 weeks to get from start of RMA to get the second. Then you get to start over.... another two weeks to wait on another, should have just sent it back to the egg. FIRST, LAST, and ONLY EVGA product I will ever try.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello,

I am sorry to hear you were unable to get the board to post properly, if you have any issues with the replacement please contact me directly, Matth@evga.com so I can work with you on any issues you are having.

1 out of 5 eggs3rd RMA board... dead =(

Pros: Worked for a total uptime of about 7 hours...

Sound worked fine.
All memory slots worked (all 12 filled).

Cons: ...then just shut off never to boot again, just like RMA #2

So just in case people are wondering, this was with a new powersupply and different memory to rule out that those may have been causing the issues.

This was in an open testbed, with a fan blowing on the board so motherboard temps were good.

Everything was working rather nicely actually, I was pretty excited... and then nothing. *sigh*

Other Thoughts: I just don't think these boards hold up under 24/7 load. Maybe the power section and/or voltage fluctuation kills the chipset or something.

I was actually monitoring the voltages on this particular board - they fluctuated a lot. Tried a different power supply just in case but same thing.

Basically this motherboard probably would have kept working for a long time if all I did was game on it. However running encodes and/or a distributed computing project on it 24/7 apparently isn't so good an idea.

This time, I'll send evga an email and do the RMA through them - maybe they can figure out what blows up on these. Or maybe it's something else and I have the widowmaker processor (works in other boards though).

regardless... I think I'm done with refurb boards. forever.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello,

If you are seeing fluctuating voltages on multiple boards and power supplies you may have dirty power on the circuit you are using. I would recomend testing on a different circuit in the house to rule it out as a possibility. If you are still unable to get the board to post please contact our 24/7 technical support (888)-881-3842 for further troubleshooting or to setup another replacement.

1 out of 5 eggs2nd dead RMA board... =( going for a 3rd.

Pros: The onboard audio and the black memory slots worked on this one! Was kinda neat since I had the same hard drive with win7 install from the last RMA and it just booted right up and the audio was working.

Cons: Was cruising along for about 15 minutes... then the machine just shut off. Permanently.

The onboard LED diagnostic wouldn't even light up after that one.

Other Thoughts: ugh... so I'm up to roughly $27 in RMA shipping costs now.

I tried reseating everything but ... I'm just rather tired of this by now. I guess there's a reason evga has enough refurb stock of this model board to be able to offer them on newegg ;/

I guess I should have taken Matth up on his offer, I was just hoping I was unlucky the first time and I would be able to get this machine together sooner. But that's not to be apparently =(

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome

Pros: Got this board yesterday to breath a little life into an i7 920 rig. Small problem which was completely my fault and was quickly fixed after a brief conversation with EVGA's (awesome) support staff. Works perfectly now, the best $100 investment ever.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: If you are anything like me you have reservations about buying a refurb board that is of questionable reliability, you won't regret buying this board.
