5 out of 5 eggsOver 2 years and still working great!!

Pros: Bought: 3 / 22 / 2012
And still running strong!
OC'd my CPU without issues, also running OC'd SLI video cards and 1600mhz XMP profile ram without issues. I've had absolutely no issues with this MoBo as others have stated.

I've used 2 separate PSUs on this board as well as 2 different brands of RAM. I've also been through several different HDD swap outs and they've all worked fine. Same with Video cards..

I will not count EVGA out and would gladly buy another.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: As of this posting I'm running:

i5 2500k @ 4.6ghz 24/7

CM Hyper 212+ CPU cooler

Corsair HX850 PSU

2x EVGA 780ti SC ACX GPUs in SLI (sometimes put a 670 in for PhysX Dedi when ruinning benchmarks I also OC these cards regularly when benching as well)

12GB G.Skill Ripjaws X Series (F3-12800CL8D-4GBXM & F3-12800CL8D-8GBXM)

2TB Seagate HDD and a 750GB WD Black HDD

Creative Sound Blaster Z series soundcard

----------------------------------------------------------------------

I have run different size WD and Seagate HDDs in this drive at other times and regularly swap them out. I have also used a higher latency Corsair Ram 16GB (2x 8GB sticks). I have used a Nvidia 460gtx, a 570gtx, 2 670 gtx in SLI, and now 2 780ti's in SLI... I Have also had an Antec Neo Eco 620c PSU in here before the Corsair HX850 was installed. And have NEVER had any issues with any of this. The people saying this board is Hardware Specific, I am really not so sure about that. Was I just extremely lucky, or could they be doing something wrong perhaps? I'm not sure. But this was and is my experience with this MoBo.

I'm going to be bulding a new personal gaming PC when/if the Intel Broadwell CPU releases, and am seriously considering going with another EVGA board. I will definitely be going with a higher end product as I am feeling the need to build a top of the line system this time around, instead of a high performance budget build.

And for the record, I've been building computers since about 1997. More specifically, gaming computers. I've also put this board in several other builds and those have not had any issues either.

5 out of 5 eggsRE: barrysauce

Pros: I had a EVGA 790i purchased back in 2006. It finally died last Dec. 2012. I called EVGA and, of course, the 790i board is no longer available so they offered me this Z68. So why not?. But I am here to respond to "barrysauce" that posted back in 7/3/2013 @ 9:08:17 AM. You should call Toll Free: 1-888-881-EVGA (3842) or visit the EVGA website for support. I guarantee that they will accommodate. I've been a dedicated user for years! and a longtime member of their forums. Please mention my username of the forums who referred you.

1 out of 5 eggsDo not buy EVGA Z68

Pros: Inexpensive i7 motherboad. Good pricing. Bought the refurb'd model to save a little.

Cons: After about 6 months or so the system wouldn't post. Only if I hard powered it off and back on. Now it is dead. Just like all the other people that got this motherboard. Glad its not available anymore but I'm unable to get a replacement.

Do not buy this motherboard. Get a 150 or higher. Going to say stay away from evga and stick with asus or giga-byte for now.

Other Thoughts: Anyway an evga user can contact me so I can get this replaced?

1 out of 5 eggsDo not buy

Pros: Great while it works ( not too long). Got a good deal initially. No so good considering the man-hours that I had to spend trouble shooting/ making sure other parts were not defective.

Cons: Died after about 6 months. The RMA board was DOA.
Will be doing a second RMA now. I have been building custom PC's for 7 years now. Never had such issues.
Really disappointing.

They offer 2 kinds of RMA. The first one you send the board then they process and send one back. The second one, they charge you 200$ and ship one right away. 200$ security for this board is bizarre. I would assume any decent company would upgrade you to the second RMA after sending a DOA board or provide faster shipping. Having to wait for more than a week is absurd.

In short. Stay away from EVGA. The standards have declined tremendously over the years.

4 out of 5 eggsGood but Finicky

Pros: Good looking board, lots of features I like. Works well when it works.

Cons: Not for the novice, this mobo is high maintenance to say the least. It's picky with memory, hdds, and PSU's. I have an i7 2600k, gave it a slight overclock, seems to be working great now, running 2 - 7970s in x-fire. I went thru a few sets of memory and PSU's to get there though. I flashed the bios and tried manually playing around with memory timing and voltages etc. There is just some hardware that this board does not like. As another poster said - compatibility issues galore! Good board all in all, but I would probably not purchase it again.

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Looks good, feels high quality.

Cons: Rampant compatibility problems.

Other Thoughts: I have a Thermaltake ATX V2.2 power supply so I thought I was safe from the "C" post code problem. I was wrong. There is no way to know for sure what power supplies will work with this product and therefore it should not be sold or purchased.

4 out of 5 eggsExcellent.

Pros: SLI Capable, Designed well for airflow, Affordable, Great motherboard for gaming even in this time (2012), EVGA, Easy to build with, and on. Overall this board is great and I enjoyed building with it. (See other thoughts)

Cons: The only reason I knocked off an egg is because it is an old motherboard. However, that means EVGA has had the time to get kinks out.
I did receive a CMOS "Checksun" Error (I assume they meant 'checksum') However I proceeded to install windows and now when I boot the machine I don't receive options to enter my BIOS. I am still able to boot normally and enter windows but it does seem like a strange trait. If I can get any customer representative from EVGA to explain how I'm able to repair this it would be much appreciated.

Other Thoughts: I did research on this board AFTER I bought it (Foolish yes, but I lucked out). Turns out that everything I bought and had fit perfectly for it. In this section I will list the ABSOLUTE PRE-REQS if you decide to purchase this board.

-Power supply requires an 12V ATX v2.2 SPECIFICALLY. I'm not positive 2.3 will work, but after looking online I know 2.2 will.
-Sandy Bridge processor architecture only. The Ivy-Bridge bios update was released for this motherboard, so if you're able to obtain this update you will have Ivy Bridge support.
-It says EATX in the manual, however this is an ATX Sized motherboard
-Memory should be at 1.5V DDR3 1333. You are able to use 1600 MHZ RAM, they will be downclocked to fit the motherboards supported speeds.

These are the bare specifications in order to run the motherboard. Follow those instructions and the motherboard will have everything it needs to boot guaranteed! (Unless you receive faulty parts)

3 out of 5 eggsWouldn't recommend

Pros: Cheap, good for when it came out, nice features, pretty, SLI and Crossfire.

Cons: Old, frankly it's out of date and all current CPUs for this motherboard at at end of life.

Other Thoughts: It's a nice motherboard in all honesty and the cheap price of 66 dollars is tempting and I fell for it, I'm going to send this back and get a refund as it doesn't suit my needs. I wouldn't recommend buying this since it's going to be phased out.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Mobo if you do your homework

Pros: Cheap for a great motherboard. smooth build. as always love Evga.

Cons: If you don't know what it works with, it could make you cry. New bios allows Ivy Bridge CPUs, but you likely need Sandy Bridge CPU to update bios first.
