2 out of 5 eggsEVGA and Newegg. Bad combo?

Pros: Plenty of PCI-E slots
Looks beautiful
Easy to install to case
2 type of SATA chipsets
On-board BIOS error LCD

Cons: Error code 55 4-post beeps.
Never got to use it

Other Thoughts: Ordered this motherboard to go with a new computer build, from the ground up. It and everything else came in, and sure enough the board didn't work - or maybe it was the Memory, or the CPU, or the PSU...We never found out.

EVGA support is why I give this board a second egg - the person I called the night of the build walked me through everything they could, tried to help, then suggested I send the CPU, PSU, Memory, and MB back since a 'no memory' error could be any of them.

Now I wish I would have went through EVGA to RMA the board instead of Newegg. It was (and is at the time of this posting) within it's 30 days, so I could get a full refund. Sent all the parts back on the 6th of August, got to Newegg RMA on the 12th, and just got 'approved for defect' on the 15th. Now the board is discontinued, out of stock, and of course that meant phone call to Newegg.

The first person I spoke to said I was going to have to wait 3-5 business days to see if the item came back in stock before they would refund the money so I can purchase another board. So that puts me not even getting ANYTHING done until the 20th of the month. Not satisfied I asked to speak to a supervisor, who told me they would expedite getting me refunded for the motherboard and get the rest back to me...

When? 3-5 business days I guess. I've been ordering through Newegg via parents and things for years, and for the first time I completely regret doing so and wish I had gone with another website. Moral of the story? RMA through EVGA, they take care of their customers.

Now I get to go find an Asus board (I suppose) to replace this...Ugn! Already dread their RMA if I need to use it.

5 out of 5 eggsVery Stable and Easy

Pros: Great layout, easy to install SLI, very stable

Cons: None, so far.

Other Thoughts: I really appreciate the spacing of the PCIe slots. My old ASUS X58 had the slots set so that the top video card in a dual SLI setup had the bottom video card blocking the fan. The EVGA solves this problem by staggering the PCIe slots so that the video cards have my Revo Drive between them. This was how my old NVidia 780i was set up, and I'm glad that this new motherboard returns to that system. The result is that this computer not only outperforms my old one, but runs much cooler.

5 out of 5 eggsHigh quality MB

Pros: After having a very bumpy experience with ASrock Extreme 6 Z77 and i7 3770k combo and I decided to purchase an EVGA Z77 product based on prior experience with their motherboards (all of which still work going back to the 680i and 790i). I have never had an EVGA motherboard failure to date. This board was not an exception - it booted up on first try and has operated w/o problems for going on a year. I did update the BIOS right first thing, but have had no issues with its features or stability. The CPU is overclocked to a stable 4.5 GHZ with closed loop water cooling (I have had it up to 5 GHz). I have a case with excellent cable management so I appreciate this board’s side-access ATX power and SATA connectors. This board manufactures very well and utilizes higher quality components. I also have an ASrock Z77 i7 3770k as a second system. It works fine as well now, but I prefer the EVGA product because I had some difficulty getting the ASrock to acknowledge Corsair 2133 RAM; the EVGA Z77 FTW had no issue with the same modules. Would I condemn all ASrock products because of that difficulty? By no means, they make a good product too – all motherboards have their incompatibilities and quirks – you just need to be patient and find a work around or move on to another component.

Cons: None so far

Other Thoughts: In my opinion EVGA is a great company and I recommend this motherboard product. In fact, my experience with EVGA motherboards has been so good that I plan to buy a EVGA Z87 Classified for a new i7 4770k system.

4 out of 5 eggsA great board with a bad rap

Pros: Purchased this board despite reviews due to a good history with EVGA products. Immediately updated the BIOS upon arrival and I have not looked back. My overclocks are on the mild side, but I have had no issues with it doing anything I have asked it to do. I will note that I am only running it with two sticks of Corsair Platinum Dominator RAM and that many of the issues seemed to manifest with all 4 slots in use from what I saw in the reviews. I had no problems seating my heatsink flush to the chip (EVGA Superclock), and the board worked great with my original GTX580 TriSLI and my current GTX680 SLI configurations. For what I paid, I got a great motherboard.

Cons: I still paid too much. This board hit the pricepoint of $99. Driven down by all of the negative reviews, I guess. I bought it when it was $199. Wish I had paid less.

Other Thoughts: EVGA has been good to me. I wanted to buy their product as a result. They continued to work hard following the release of this board to address its issues and as of this point in time, I feel like they have done so. I wouldn't hesitate to pick up another one if the need arose.

2 out of 5 eggsVery loud

Pros: For the most part, this board works well. The colored RAM slots and SATA connectors are nice additions.

Cons: - My EVGA GeForce GTX 660 graphics card can only be used in the top PCI-E slot. If I put it in any other slot, it either blocks the much needed USB connectors or it blocks the fan for the Z77 chip.

- The Z77 fan is as loud as a hair dryer when running at 100%. It will run at 100% from the second you boot up your machine to the second you turn it off unless you find a way to force its speed down.

Manufacturer Response:

The fan on this board is not intended to run at 100% at all times, if it is then please contact me at

Thank you,
Brandon B

Pros: Well... Smecksi Looks Obv. Lol. Freamin lots od PCI-E's and what everyone else says. Lol.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Motherboard

Pros: Read the specs, Quality is built in for use and longetivity.
I received this board as a replacement for a z-68 board from evga, I have it paired to a 2500k, runs rock solid.
It seems most of the complaints here are bios related again, I have not had one problem.
Evga may not be a major supplier of motherboards but they put out a quality producy. The price is high because of the high end components they put in.
Again ,read the specs. on evga's web site.

Cons: none
