5 out of 5 eggsSo far so good

Pros: Had an easy time with setup. Dropped in CPU, RAM, and the thing powered up perfectly first try. BIOS setup takes a minute to get accustomed to, but works great. First thing I did was flash the BIOS to the newest. worked like a charm. This system has been a work in progress for over 20 years of builds and upgrades. I am pleased to add this EVGA board to the pedigree.

Cons: So far, none I can think of.

5 out of 5 eggsNice Board

Pros: So far everything is nice about this motherboard. No Issues at all.

Cons: For some reason the motherboard does not have a USB3.0 header to hook up the front panel ports. I currently do not have any USB3.0 devices and the case came with a header converter, so running the ports at USB2.0 instead.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat board

Pros: Have been using this in a primary system with a cpu clock of 4.2ghz on a 3820 for the last 2 months. The quad channel memory is great for ram disks and i needed the pci lanes for raid cards and gpu. I stress test it a lot usually running 6 to 10 virtual machines at once and minor gaming. Have not had a single problem with this board.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: I really didn't find any of the flaws other reviews stated. For a general purpose workstation this is ususally enough for anyone. Flashing the new bios has changed with efi but this bios is simply intuiative compared to other efi's i have used. Overall phenominal product, would deffinetely buy again.

4 out of 5 eggsGood enough

Pros: I really wanted to get into the 2011 socket but I'm poor, so when I saw this available for $79 I jumped. Once you update the bios this becomes a decent board. Actually I once bricked a computer with a bad bios flash so the dual bios on this is extremely comforting. All my usb ports work and it has never crashed.

Cons: This isn't a good beginner board. Honestly if you're on a budget like me you shouldn't even go the 2011 route if your primary focus is gaming. I just like shinny things I guess. So many bios updates come out and they all have very important issues addressed in each. The dual bios makes this problem less nerve racking though.

Other Thoughts: If you really want 2011 and don't have the money to pay for a 300 dollar board and this goes back down to $79 then go for it.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Cheap price for an X79 SLI motherboard. I only paid $89 after rebate and the rebate process from EVGA was silky smooth, taking less than 45 days from the date of purchase. So a close to 30-day turnaround from EVGA! I aviod rebate deals like the plague but this one worked out fine.

Cons: Limited RAM slots for some - personally I'm fine with "only" 4.

4 out of 5 eggsVery Awesome Deal Board

Pros: Worked right out of the box. Everything was working fine. Oddly, the network adapter was not being found nor was it even a device. The Reset CMOS button fixed that right out of the box and everything has been working like a charm since. The GTX 660, a huge video card, fits perfect inside it. The RAM is has a nice 2 Slots, then CPU, than the other 2 slots. Looks very neat

Cons: None so far

4 out of 5 eggsGreat board!!

Pros: supports the new 2011.
BIOS is very indepth.
supports quad chan mem.
overclocks semi easy(read cons)
not one issue but unsure about 1 LED(read cons)

iv owned more than 10 EVGA products within the last year or 2 and i have NEVER had any issues or recieved a product DOA!!! i will always cloose them as my TOP BRAND! great customer service and support. KODOS to EVGA

Cons: BOARD IS NOT FOR NEWBIES!!!(no disrespect to anyone) it will take some time finetuning this. if your a beginner this is probably not for you.

For a sli board, the pci is rediculously close. i mean maybe a cupple MM or CM betwen the first and sec with duel cards that use case bays. i had to use the bottom becuase i didnt like how close it was. no issues but for something thats supost to be for SLI you would think there wold be some breathing room but i guess not. (-1egg)

for those with no drive detected or no boot fetected and it the boots up. u must dissable the feature in the BIOS!

on my board i noticed my reset led(White one) was on the first few weeks, i randomly looked in my case to see it haveing a slight flicker and now more or less seems like it flashes as a HDD light. idk if its just a bad led but not a issue for me the board functions and its just a light in a button that i will probably never use. idk if its supposed ot flicker or be solid but it dont bother me at all. just with i knew, no luck looking on the internet or fourms.

BIOS has a TON of features and is a little overwhelming. it took alot of reading and looking stuff up on this board to get it all down pat. after words it overclocks like a champ

Other Thoughts: Build

nzxt karaken x60-Cooling

4 out of 5 eggsLiterally the best deal you will find on a X79 board -- anywhere

Pros: As the title says, if you got this board on sale ($99 AR) you will not find a better deal on an X79 motherboard ANYWHERE. EVGA is practically giving the board out for free at this phenomenal price.

The board also has a sleek sexy black theme. Arguably one of the best looking X79 boards out there.

Reasonably robust features (esp. for the price) -- debug LED, power and reset buttons on the motherboard, POSCAP capacitors.

Cons: Now, this board doesn't come without its own bag of problems -- which is to be expected at the price point. Note, all problems are as of the lastest BIOS, 044.

Intermittent USB 3.0 function. The ports will die on occasion.
No USB 3.0 header on motherboard.
Raising the BCLK disables the USB and Ethernet controller. Changing the BLCK ratio raises the BLCK, also resulting in the problems above.
CPU vCore does not drop at idle. In hand with this problem is no support whatsoever for CPU offset voltage.
The setting for memory command rate is currently broken as of BIOS 44.
XMP memory profiles are buggy, sometimes they work, sometimes they don't.
PCI-E 3.0 support is patchy, often the slots will not work with multiple cards.

Other Thoughts: Although there are clearly a slew of problems people are having with this board, my day to day experience with this board has actually been relatively stable. The board was still well worth the price.

5 out of 5 eggsBuy it on SALE

Pros: My first custom computer build that I did my self. Chose this board because it was $99 after mail in rebate.
This board gets mixed reviews because it is not for idi-ots.
32gb is enough for most people
can do 2600 ram speeds if you fine tune and your cpu can handle it
VERY cheap
good board to jump into x79 and use SLI or TRI SLI
Built in Microphone for computer power on beeps
Reset cmos button on boar and back of board.
Power, reset and DEBUG light on board
debug light displays cpu temps

Again don't buy this board if you are an IDIOT
You must flash to bios 41
You must disable raid array in bios if your not using it other wise you get that dam n screen saying NO OPERATING SYSTEM.
You must read Kingpins Over Clock guide for this board
You may need to adjust the speed of your ram to be correct
You will need to fine tune it
This board runs stable w/o much problems

Cons: Took me a week to learn everything about this board that i needed to know to get perfectly fine tuned. Reading forums or guides here and there in my spare time. But board did boot first try and installed windows no problem.

Other Thoughts: Be extra careful removing the piece of plastic covering the CPU pins. Make sure to unlatch both gates and raise it up before pulling on anything. including that little instruction booklet that's glued to the top. I almost destroyed(bent) all my CPU pins trying to pull the little booklet off the cpu pins cover and i ripped the whole dam n thing off while the locks were still pinning it down on top of the cpu pins.

4 out of 5 eggsI've been pleased

Pros: I got it on super sale.
It's worth more than I paid for it.

I read up extensively on this board and was a bit hesitant, but I've been quite pleased with this purchase! It's a quality filled board with good features.
I've not overclocked the cpu, as that comes after watercooling, but I've got the ram running happily at 18667. I haven't tried to push it faster.

Cons: BIOS is a little rough around the edges; not the smoothest experience.

My impression is that many of the problems with the BIOS have been fixed, but there are a few lingering ones. Research to see if it's riskier for a feature that you consider critical.

Other Thoughts: I'm an old computer guy and built and bought many systems and no longer have the time for finicky hardware, nor stuff that doesn't work. So the purchase felt a little risky for me and it isn't the top board in the x79 line. But I don't regret buying it at all.

This board was better than I expected and it has worked great for me. I would probably feel a little less excited about my purchase if I paid full price, but who doesn't like a good deal?
