Comes with a GUI BIOS that is focused on functionality, new software interface for overclocking in the O.S., ultra high quality components, premium Creative Core3D audio, robust PCI-E 3.0, and memory trace layout.

It starts with a full 8 Layer PCB, improving overall overclock stability and PCB cooling. The memory trace layout is optimized for compatibility, improved overclocking and 4 DIMM memory support. The PCI-E layout is improved, PCI-E 3.0 compatibility, and 4-Way SLI support in E-ATX form factor. • 8 LAYER PCB

High layer count enhances stability both for heavy loads as well as high over-clocks.

Z97
  • HIGH GOLD CONTENT FOR CPU SOCKET

Z97
  • PCI-E DISABLE SWITCHES

No need to remove a card when testing, instead you can disable the slot with a dip-switch, this can greatly reduce the time spent in troubleshooting , as you do not need to disassemble anything to isolate PCI-E components.

Z97
  • ONBOARD POWER, RESET AND CMOS REST BUTTONS

When testing on the Z97, or running it in a benching environment where you do not need to worry about wiring the board to a case to have access to power and reset buttons, they are built onto the board.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent motherboard

Pros: Everything you would want, except Thunderbolt. I liked the layout and the Core3D audio.

Cons: Has had no issues.

Other Thoughts: Perhaps I am just lucky but this is a very good motherboard and I would recommend it if you can still find one.

1 out of 5 eggsDOA

Pros: N/A wasn't able to use. This was DOA.

Cons: -Dead on arrival
-Also noticed this is too big for some mid-tower cases. I had to use a different case then the one I had intended as the cable plug ins were to close to the edge of the case.
-Pricey for what you get

Other Thoughts: Board was DOA. Shipped to EVGA for a replacement but was denied because of a shipping problem. EVGA customer service was very unhelpful and not understanding at all. I had always heard they had decent customer service but I was very disappointed.

5 out of 5 eggsNice board

Pros: I got this as part of a Shell Shocker bundle. This mobo has most of the top features for a top end mobo. Very well constructred and seems very sturdy. Has a three way switch for bios which is a great feature.

Cons: none

1 out of 5 eggsI'm going to assume it's a great product, but it was damaged on receipt and I wasn't going to waste time installing it.

Pros: No Pros at the moment board was damaged on receipt.

Cons: Damage upon receipt and no help from Newegg as they said it was outside of their return policy.

Other Thoughts: The large heatsink had been damaged and detached itself from the top two fasteners at the top of the motherboard. Upon further investigation it appeared as if some of the CAPs between the I/O and the heatsink had been bent as if something hit the heatsink which is why it was detached therefore smacking into the CAPs. Newegg said it was past their return policy which was one day after I received it. I'll have to check to see if the return policy was non-refundable and I missed the fine print, but still nice of them to throw me to the side and wish me luck. I also purchased an extended warranty and the warranty department has no record of my registration so now I'm out $300. Thanks Newegg for great customer service.

3 out of 5 eggsGreat Product! ... of Satan.

Pros: When it works, this mobo is pretty sweet.

All the pros are listed in the specs, it's probably just my experience that was bad.

Cons: I can't be sure that all of my issues are caused by this mobo, so I'm giving it 3 eggs still.
- The southern heatsink rises too high, it doesn't allow for a larger card to sit well in the first PCI-E x16 slot.
- Comes with comprehensive bad luck.
- See "Other" for potential issues that may have been caused by this thing.

Other Thoughts: -GPU Killed.
SLI'd 2 GTX 970s with this. Elite: Dangerous was beautiful with the DK2 for about 5 minutes and then my slave card died.
-1TB of SSD (2x 256GB and 1x 512GB) Killed.
I'd also purchased some cables from Corsair. Upon their installation (after which, my rig looked so beautiful) I powered up and immediately powered down when i saw smoke coming from my SSD's. One lived, it was an Intel SSD but not the Toshibas or Crucial. One of the CPU power cables was also faulty though, so it probably wasn't the mobo.

All in all, it was part of a terrible and expensive time sink that's left me pretty disgruntled.

1 out of 5 eggsProduct came broken they want 70 dollar to fix it. DONT BUY EVGA!!!!

Pros: it looks cool?

Cons: The product came broken from the box would cause the computer to freeze and crash about every 15 to 20 minutes
When i sent the product in for RMA it took a total of 2 weeks and 3 days for them to process and send me pictures that the CPU socket pins were bent? Which they were not when i sent the board into them then they insisted that i pay 70 dollars to fix the "damage" (that they or shipping caused)

Have built 8 computers have never had a problem with any company's RMA until i ran into EVGA they are terrible.

Other Thoughts: NEVER BUY EVGA this has been a nightmare trying to deal with this company i have had to RMA 2 other motherboards and had no problems with them and they payed for shipping and handling!!!!!!

This motherboard has been the worst i have ever bought, and the company that backs it is just as awful.

Buy MSI or gigabyte or ASUS 100x better customer support and better products

1 out of 5 eggsIt might be good, but i wouldn't know.

Pros: Not sure what any pros could be, it wont post.

Cons: Got everything hooked up inside the tower, running this mobo with an evga gtx 970 SSC, 16gbs of RAM, 4.0GHZ intel processor 4690K and a 850 watt psu. I plug the power cord into the psu, flip the switch to turn the PSU on, and the computer decides it's turning on now, to the tune of 4 consecutive beeps, meaning there's a hardware issue, and an EVGA code on the mobo showing code #55, meaning there's a RAM problem. I took it to a repair shop for diagnosis, and they said they checked all my components and they're all fine. They did plug in a 6 pin connector the pci port that is located on the bottom of the mobo that is used for SLI, and after plugging a 6 pin in there and then into the psu, the pc posted and booted normally and went straight to the bios. i took it home and connected a 6 pin pci cable, and i still get 4 beeps and code#55. EVGA recommends replacing the motherboard, sadly, RMA department is gone until tuesday. It's been a great time with this mobo.

Other Thoughts: You never really know if what you're buying from anywhere is going to be good or not. In my case, this was a very expensive endeavor, and im not very happy with the late delivery i got, and this is easily the worst product i've ever bought from newegg.

4 out of 5 eggsAwesome Mobo

Pros: First time building a pc and this mobo is HUGE and it has CPU temp meter which is very cool and supports up to 4 video cards

Quality MOBO upon first look its just beautiful

Cons: I am no fan on the sideways connectors for the sata power and usb 3.0 , I was lucky because I purchase a very big Phantom 530 NZXT Case but it made cable management more difficult as I had to remove hdd cages to use the USB 3.0 Header and Power and Sata.

Other Thoughts: Make sure you get a very big case

1 out of 5 eggsFaulty video-out & a shorted graphics card = AVOID

Pros: Onboard power buttons, CMOS reset, BIOS switch, and debugging features are useful, I can't speak to the rest as my board shipped with faulty video-out functions.

Cons: Unfortunately, my motherboard shipped with faulty and non-functioning Mini-DisplayPorts. Additionally, a graphics card that had been working perfectly from December of 2011 promptly shorted when installed in the first PCIE slot on this board, and is no longer functioning in its old motherboard, leaving me without a functioning PC until this issue is resolved by EVGA.

Other Thoughts: While I got this board at an excellent price from Newegg as part of a Black Friday bundle, it has ended up costing more than it saved me, as I now have to pay for a graphics card out of pocket to replace my now-shorted card in addition to the inconvenience of having to RMA the product. I'll revisit this review after the RMA process, but my suggestion for the moment is to avoid this board.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Jacob C.,
